Scammers

They look cheap but they have a hidden cost. It will take you months to get your money back, you must get someone to sign to say the car is not damaged because you will need this document to start your credit card didpute. They do it every time to everyone. I foolishly read the reviews after collecting my car. When I arrived in the office (which isn't at the terminal) there was a young woman crying, they were charging her some ridiculous amount for a tiny mark on one of the wheels. I am now 1 month after returning the car and not only do I not have my deposit back, they simply ignore my requests. Just don't use them.

Scoundrels & thieves!

I wish I had read this website before I hired through them.

Yes, they charge the insurance excess to your card then don't return it for up to 6 weeks! Yes, they charge you for damage you didn't do. Whenever you normally pick up a car, you are given a condition sheet on the car. Dickmanns leave the condition of the car blank, therefore indicating there is no damage. Unless you spot it, you will be charged for the damage already there when you pick the car up. DO YOU SPAIN absolutely should not recommend this car hire company, they know what they are like. NEVER hire through this company. (That is why they are the company who always offer very cheap cars by the way as they are the company left with cars as past customers won't rehire with them).

don't use them DICKMANNS

They will rip you off, keep your money and take 2 months or more to return it, say you have damaged the car when you return it exactly the same condition that you collected it in, then charge you 250 euros for damage that was on the car when you picked it up, saying that they havE A photograph of the car before I picked it up, when you ask to see it they say they will email it to you , BUT GUESS WHAT NO EMAIL OF PHOTOGRAPH AND THEY KEEP THE 250 EUROS, AND YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT 2 MONTHS OR MORE FOR YOUR DEPOSIT OF 950EUROS OR MORE.
THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN AND NOBODY SHOULD USE THEM, they are a disgrace

Estoy de acuerdo con todo el mundo que escribe sobre DICKMANNS, la empresa insolvente ? ¿Por qué están en la lista de búsqueda Doyour España , aunque hay una gran cantidad de quejas por varios años ? DICKMANNS sacó 950 euros por mí en 12/26/2015 , y hasta ahora, el 03/14/2016 yo acabamos de regresar el depósito de seguridad después de las quejas de mi y compañías de tarjetas de queja recurrente de DoYourSpain . DICKMANNSno reservar los fondos de reserva , pero que cobran dinero de la cuenta y utiliza la más probable en sus operaciones actuales . La pregunta es, ¿cuándo la

Still waiting for a refund.

I have used Dickmanns many, many times from both Murcia and Alicante but will not be using them ever again.

I hired a car over the Christmas period from Alicante airport and despite numerous emails and telephone calls have still not been refunded the 950 Euros paid as a deposit. I have now accrued interest on my credit card bill.

They keep telling me there is a problem with their bank and it's out of their hands. Really?? Just refund my money please.

Sign the petition agains them!

Pleae, sign the petition of Change.org in order to return your money and attract attention to the illegal activities of this company. It is called
"Stop the illegal activity of Dickmanns Rent a Car, make them return money to the clients". It is very important to make this problem visible!

Very good company

The car we rented was to be picked up off the airport. The pick up vehicle was with us in no time and was great as it had a step to help get onto the minibus, which was so helpful as I have a problem climbing high steps.
The driver was very helpful with lifting our cases into the bus and friendly
The trip to the car hire place was only a few minuets away and the service there was also very good.
The hire car was clean, it was just a matter of checking that if there were any faults with the hire car they were already listed on our paperwork
We have used this company on numerous occasions and we have found no problems at all. We recommend this company if you need a good family car.

Nice experience

Very friendly and helpful. Cars clean and quite .Free shuttle service to and from the airport. Excellent instructions of what to do in case of a breakdown etc.
Everything explained in English, phone numbers given out in case of emergency. Value for money. Help getting luggage in\out of vehicles.
Reliable service and the company made sure we got to the airport in plenty of time to catch our flight

Don't use this company

I never received my deposit back. They hold your money for 30 days I think and don't let you use insurance which isn't theirs and is highly overpriced. They have such a confusing business model that you actually have to read through the small print as YOU WILL get charged for things that you don't expect to. I tried to contact their accounts number but waiting for 5 mins after which someone picked up the phone and put it straight back down to end the call. The customer sales people at Alicante airport are very good but unfortunately have to represent a really awful company.

Still no return of deposit.

I have waited for 57 days, and I am still waiting for a return of a deposit.

Please know that they write DEPOSIT, and they are CHARGING your card.

Keep off.

It took me more than 60 days to get the deposit back.

DO NOT USE DICKMANNS!!

Like many other reviews, I was ripped off by Dickmanns over their €950 security deposit. I travel via Alicante several times a year and have used Dickmanns via Do You Spain on many occasions over the past 7 or 8 years. It would appear that they have only recently introduced (in the last 12 months or so) a policy of deducting the security deposit if not opting for the extra insurance (another rip off common to most car hire firms), but it took me over 7 weeks to get my deposit back after a 4 day rental in December 2015 and only then by contacting my credit card provider. The customer service lady I spike to at Dickmanns was off hand to the point of rudeness. I will not be using them again and I would also recommend checking the small print at the time of booking to ensure the rental company will only authorise the deposit against your card, not actully take the money up front. This can also add significant currency exchange charges (about £23 for a €950 transaction).

Never hire a car from this company

I hired a car from Dickmanns from Murcia airport and had booked this through DoyouSpain. Car hired for 7 days and returned 26/12/15, I have still not had my 950 euro deposit refunded 36 days later!!
I have emailed a complaint to DoyouSpain who informed me that Dickmanns had informed them that the return of the deposit had been authorized 22nd January 2016 but I have still not received.
I have now sent all the documents to my credit card provider one of which is a terms and conditions in which Dickmanns state they block/swipe your card for 950 euro deposit and this will be released on the return of the car in the same condition.
My credit card provider have passed my complaint to a specialist team who are hopefully going to get my deposit back. If only this company realized that good customer service and honesty would encourage customers to return.

I will never use them again/Varning för Dickmanns

I had to wait 58 days for my 950 Euro deposit. I wrote to them a several times and everytime the answered that the should make a payback "this week". No apologies for the delay and no explanation. A lot of worries for me about the money and a lot of time by the computer and telephone.

Nice people on the company i Alicante, but that didn´t help me (sorry guys). Economycarrental supported me and helped me to get my deposit back. Thanks for that.

Jag fick vänta 58 dagar på at återfå min deposition, 950 Euro, utan ursäkt eller förklaring. Ett tag trodde vi att de aldrig skulle betala tillbaka. Economycarrental hjälpte till med kontakten och stöttade mig. De skickade en ursäkt och skulle ompröva sitt engagemang med Dickmanns.

Do not use this company as they cannot be trusted to refund your Deposit

Dickmanns took a deposit of £900 pounds from my credit card. I videoed the car in detail inside and out with my Go Pro upon collection at Valencia airport and upon return 4 days later. The car was returned in exactly the same condition as when collected and this was agreed with the Dickmanns representative who was the same person at both collection and return.

Now Dickmanns are refusing to return any of the £900 deposit and providing no reason why.

The car was arranged via 'Do You Spain' who seem content to continue to collaborate with Dickmanns despite all the bad reviews that Dickmanns continue to receive.

I now have to start the legal process of trying to recover my money with the help of my GoPro Video Recordings.

In my experience neither Dickmanns nor 'Do You Spain' are trustworthy enough to do business with.

Three years ago this was a very good Company, but now you simply HAVE to avoid them or you will get ripped off.

We paid 115 Euros for what we thought was fuel but Dickmans are saying it was for insurance.
We had told the man 'in the van' at Murcia that we did not want insurance since we have our own. I even had the Policy in my hand to show him. So why would he charge us for Insurance and why would we think that he was; we thought we were paying up front for fuel.

We had booked the car through 'Do You Spain' as FULL TO EMPTY but he said that we could avoid a 40 Euro refuelling fee by returning the car full, which is what we did.
We believed that we had paid 115 Euros for fuel (FULL TO EMPTY) and that we would get a refund upon return.

When we were on the way to the airport we called Dickmanns to check on their return policy.

My partner spoke with a guy called Pepe Santes who said we had paid for insurance but, because it was obviously a mistake, he would tell the person at the desk in the van to refund us.
I found out later that he had then called the person at the desk and told the lady NOT to give us a refund. THIS IS APPALLING PRACTISE.

When you buy insurance you are given a certificate and policy schedule, we were not given these so didn't know that we were paying for insurance.
If we had been given these, we would have reiterated that WE HAVE OUR OWN INSURANCE.

I have tried to get a refund out of this Company but they do not listen.
We have used them before on many occasions from Murcia and they USED to be a very good Company. Excellent service and a brilliant price.
But this has completely changed now and you simply MUST avoid them or run the risk of getting ripped off.

My advice is, if you book through 'Do You Spain' or some other similar Company, specifically request that you are not given a car from Dickmanns.
If the Car Hire Voucher arrives and you see it is for this Company, cancel it immediately.

Never again

Charged for lots of damage on the car which I am 99.9% was not caused by myself. Picking up the car still dripping wet out of a car wash, I failed to spot all the scratches on the front of the car. They charge you a whopping 950 Euros on your credit card and then a while later refund as much as they feel like, without a word of explanation. In my case they withheld 300 Euros. How many more people will be charged for the same scratches?

Luckily I have annual insurance which I hope will cover this scam. Cost about the same as the rip off insurance offered by Dickmanns for 1 week.

Always video the whole car when picking it up!!!!!!!

Live and learn. One less customer here.

The Dickmanns hire car scam

Total rip off. They are charging me for damage to the car ! When I picked the car up there were scratches and dents all over it. So I took my own pictures of the car before I drove it away ! The good thing about smartphone is that they date and time stamp a picture 😊.
I'm back out there in January so I might let people know at the airport about there scam
I will see you in court Dickmanns!!!
