Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever. I have had someone find my card on the ground and stole all my money off my account so had it frozen. After that I got paid ordered a new card and I have done everything proving my identit from doing the ai licence check verification I having to fax over my information with a real notary. They continued to deny despite me being the actual account owner. I am missing payments to my bills including my pphone bill which I'm going to lose my number which is connected to everything important. They have done nothing to help the situation but make it worse. She threatened to hang up on me makih me even more upset and so I hung up and making this review. I highly do not recommend this bank including if someone steals your money because ddn going to tell them to freeze the account you'll never be able to access your money because there verification process is ridiculous and they are no help. I've had to contact them so many times the last couple of days. And just think you have to go pay for a notary but how am I supposed to pay for a notary when all my money is on my bankih with them. It's a ridiculous process that legit doesn't make sense when they could have done other things to prove my identity. DO NOT BANK WITH THEM. After I get access to my money I'm cashing out and closing my account permentaly and never banking with them again. Not just that but I dought I'm even getting my money back for the fraud committed on my account. Thanks for creating high stress in my life making things way more difficult I'm so angry right now it's not even funny

Unethical & Will Destroy Your Credit Record

Through one of those "credit monitoring" services, I was informed that my chances of approval for a DiscoverChrome card were "Outstanding!" I don't NEED a card. I have a PERFECT VISA with my financial institution but thought a back-up would be comforting and Discover appeared to be quite nice. I even checked for "Pre-Approval" and received word that I qualified.

They pulled FIVE "hard inquiries" with-in 24 hours on ONE application, my FICO DROPPED OVER 40 POINTS because of the number and rapidity of "hard inquiries" and THEN...

For no reason given, from THREE different "representatives" ("The records don't show a reason...") the application was denied!

I have a VISA card, a personal loan, BOTH with "early pay-off". My regular bills have NO negative remarks for YEARS.

Discover all but destroyed my credit score and history and not so much as a "Gee, sorry."

Scam artists who ought to be shut-down, out of business.

I've since done a LOT of research to find that many who have applauded Discover early on only lived long enough to learn the truth: eventually, Discover will get you, and when they do, it will take a LONG time to recover.

Thankfully, my VISA is still at a most amazingly low rate, the bank disregarded all the "Discover" nonsense, and my credit rating with my financial institution remains stable and intact.

As many have also stated in the…

As many have also stated in the comments. My Credit card was randomly closed without any notice. They told me i would recieve a email within 24 hours stating why. And I did not recieve any. They also stole the cashback money from my credit card that I earned fair and square. No rules broken. They are thieves and were also recently sued for 1.2b which makes sense , very shady bank. If youre reading this save yourself trouble. It has been about a month since I have been waiting.. No response. I've Left comments multiple times. Talked to their support. Who didn't realize I was on the line and was stating racist remarks about "white people". How he hates "white people" and "hates working for white people". For over a minute this worker was saying racist comments because he didn't hear me on the line. Then he hung up after I said "HELLO"...and I had to go through the hoops of support phone calls again because their team is not properly trained. Terrible experience. They have been ignoring me since as well as all the loyal customers in these comments, and globally.

Had my account for ten years

Had my account for ten years, they closed it after sending me a letter I didn’t get. Nothing in my statement balances said my account was in a status that was going to be closed.

A very happy customer

I've been using Discover Bank and Credit card for over a decade and have never had a problem.
They are great with amazing customer service and a good online presence. I never have a problem finding an ATM with the Allpoint network.
It is my first choice when it comes to financial institutions for everyday transactions.

Would give no starts if I could

Would give no starts if I could. Get the invitation in the mail to reduce personal debt with pre-approval for loan amount requested. Was told there should be no problem of obtaining the amount requested since it was pre-approved. After agreeing with the application, was told denied. Don't tell people they have pre-approval and do a hard credit check for nothing. Be better Discover! Dissatisfied customer. Even with a "pushy" representative to move you forward. I don't typically leave reviews, but completely unfair to people. Find a better way for the pre-approval process.

Discover Financial a Horrible Company

Helene ruined our roof, our insurance company quickly estimated and agreed to replace the entire roof along with funds for tree removal and loss of food in our freezer refrigerators and this funds were sent out immediately. Roofer scheduled repair quickly but asked for down payment to order material. I have no mortgage but borrowed a small amount of money to liquidate some bills so Discover’s name was on check along with mine. Sent check to them, it has now been over two weeks and they constantly ask for additional info, stalling release of funds and haven’t released funds for my loss for spoliled food and debris removal. Have never dealt with such incompetence in my life, every person I have talked to passes the buck but in meantime roofer informs me he may not be able now to get roof started before end of year due to Holidays so we face possibility roof will leak as our rain season approaches. Discover views this as their money are very slow and could care less that we have been affected by this hurricane and potential new damage if roof doesn’t get replaced, am considering legal action but that won’t get us a new roof quickly, these are arrogant people and not trained as customer service, will not do any business with them again, this is a disgusting event

Should Be Called Merchant Service Not Customer Service

Just read another review that mirrors exactly what I've been going through. Once my credit card is paid off I will be closing my account with them. I called them to file a dispute and the lady was so condescending. I had bought a pair of sneakers from Stock X and they sent me shoes that had scuff marks on them. I took photos and contacted the merchant but they unsurprisingly did not refund me. I submitted my dispute to Discover and uploaded photos and still lost. Called Discover and got a different agent who was condescending. They claimed they couldn't do anything because Stock X doesn't accept returns. Stock X does do returns, they just often refuse to honor it. Although, anyone with two eyes can see the product was not as described and therefore I should've gotten a refund. Anyway, stay clear of this company. They back the merchant not the customer.

They have NO crypto interest

This is a review for Discover Financial Services.
Trustpilot has posted this review in error under the wrong company....

No interest in crypto. Unable to transfer funds from Discover checking to Coinbase. HUGE disappointment, SOFI accommodated easily. Moving full account completely to SOFI. You're about to get left behind Discover.... WAKE UP !!

Transferred funds from brokerage to Discover banking. Attempted transaction into Coinbase failed. TWICE! Easily went through with SOFI.
Common Discover. Your falling behind!

Zero Stars

Zero Stars – Discover Will Not Stand Behind You

If you have a dispute over a product you purchased with your Discover card, beware. While you can file a dispute, they won’t tell you that you can only win if the merchant doesn’t respond. Discover seems more interested in protecting the merchant than the customer.

We had a dispute with a company that provided a defective product. Despite having proof that the company agreed to refund us— including a signed document from the owner—Discover refused it, claiming they couldn't consider it because it was a legal document, and "they're not lawyers." This was ridiculous since the document was meant as proof, not for legal judgment. It didn’t matter to Discover that the product was damaged or that the refund was agreed upon; they simply sided with the merchant.

Their dispute process exists, but it seems designed to shield businesses, not consumers. Discover is a predatory company, and with so many credit cards out there, consider this a warning. Steer clear.

Get a Discover It card and begin to live a nightmare

I've had a Discover card for about 10 years without many complaints to mention but it was becoming increasingly apparent that I really couldn't use the card very many places as much as I thought I could with the exception of some bills to pay. I understand that they are going to be merging with Capital One which in my opinion at this point would be bad for Capital One and very good for Discover. Their new motto is Discover It but the it is a nightmare in reality. After dealing with many customer service agents who repeatedly promised me that they would mail my replacement card by Federal Express to Mexico where I'm currently located I had to take more creative measures to try to get my needs met by writing to the CEO Mr. Cecere who promised me at least once at this juncture to take care of me as a valued customer he said. So today I wasted my valuable time being led down a rabbit hole once again by incompetent unprofessional lack of customer service people. I was completely treated with a lack of integrity, morals, ethics and principal to the extent that they had the audacity to write me a letter saying that they were going to mail the card to my address in the states which of course will not do me any good when I'm in the country of Mexico dealing with a dental medical emergency. Do they have any ability to think correctly and to honestly respond to their customers rather than lying to them repeatedly as they did with me? I am a senior so I feel as if this is elder abuse on top of everything else.

Discover Card - Beware of Hidden Foreign Exchange Costs

I was initially attracted to the Discover Card because of its claim of "no foreign transaction fees." However, I was disappointed to find that the card charges a much higher foreign exchange rate than what was originally shown at the time of purchase. This effectively cancels out the benefit of not having a foreign transaction fee. I filed a few complaints and provided proof that a much lower rate was shown at the time of purchase. However, online customer service couldn't explain why I was charged a different rate and simply blamed the merchant. After filing a complaint with the CFPB, the CEO's office responded by saying they can charge whatever exchange fee they like per their terms of service. This is definitely the worst bank you can ever deal with. If you're planning to use this card for international purchases, be aware of the hidden costs and lack of accountability.

DISCOVER FINANCIAL SERVICES ARE FRAUDSTERS …

I have been a customer of DISCOVER Credit Card for four years. I called DISCOVER Credit on August 2nd, 2024 to have the automatic payment deducted from my bank account. The customer service rep never did, and DISCOVER Credit Reported me 30 days late on my card and on the three Credit Bureaus. I spoke with Supervisor Eve from New Jersey and she told me it's still my fault. Worthless company

Discover Bank and Discover credit card, BAD PEOPLE, CONSUMER BEWARE!

These Discover Bank and Discover credit card people are unscrupulous and lack business and personal integrity. Consumer Beware!

I had an unfortunate situation with Discover, I got nowhere talking to Discover’s bots. I consulted the Elliott Report “Company Contacts,” and I contacted the very people that Elliott Report identified as Company Contacts at Discover. Actually, I contacted them, several times by email and US Mail, and I got nowhere, not even the courtesy of a response, never mind, action, or RESOLUTION.

I cannot say enough bad things about Discover, and Discover’s leadership, other than I believe they are unscupulous, and lack business and personal integrity.
