Café Au Lait Intenso? Nothing Intense About It Anymore!

I have been buying NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Café Au Lait Intenso for a long time, mainly from Morrisons, and it used to be one of my favourite Dolce Gusto coffees.

But whatever has happened to this product recently is absolutely ridiculous.

I bought a new 3-box pack for £11, expecting exactly the same coffee I had been buying for years. Instead, the coffee is incredibly weak and almost tasteless. It tastes more like warm, watered-down milk than an “Intenso” coffee.

I still had an older box at home, so I compared them.

The production dates are only around two months apart, yet the packaging and capsule design have noticeably changed — and, more importantly, the taste and strength have changed dramatically.

With the old product, one capsule was enough. With the new product, I would practically need two capsules to get anywhere near the strength and flavour that ONE capsule used to give me.

So effectively, I now have to spend twice as much to get the coffee I was previously getting.

Same machine. Same preparation. Same person drinking it.

The only obvious difference is the product.

This isn't a minor change in taste. This is a massive drop in quality.

If the recipe, coffee content, manufacturing process or ingredients have been changed, then customers deserve to know. If nothing has changed, then Nestlé seriously needs to investigate what is happening with these batches.

I bought Café Au Lait Intenso because I wanted a strong coffee. What I received is so weak that calling it “Intenso” feels like a joke.

I genuinely regret spending £11 on three boxes. For me, this was £11 thrown in the bin.

If you are thinking about buying this product because you remember how good it used to be, be careful. The product I received recently is nowhere near the quality I used to get.

Very disappointing. I will not be buying it again unless the original quality comes back.

Latte macchiato new improved taste is disgustingly bad and I won’t be buying anymore

Disgusting!
The taste is awful now, pods smell of burnt coffee, gone down the cheap route like everything else.
Time for a change in brand & machine.

I notice that many are referring to the new latte macchiato pods as revolting and horrible. I was a dedicated fan of the old ones, but I totally agree that the new ones are awful. They are sickly. Please bring back the old ones and let the public know when you have done so.

Have used these pods for years but am noticing that they are getting weaker. I realise coffee is more expensive but we are paying more!. Having to use 2+ Americano pods for a stronger coffee. Sadly we will be looking at upgrading to a better coffee machine.

Have to agree with other reviews, the coffee machine itself is really easy to use, but the coffee pods are just awful! The milk is not good and 1/2 the pods I bought didn't work in the machine! not impressed. As I have used the pods, I cannot return them. What a waste of money! In my opinion the whole Dolce gusto experience has been a waste of money and time. Do not buy the Dolce gusto pods

Hate the new “improved” latte macchiato 😩 Bitter and gross. I really miss the old version, which was my go to both at home and at work. I hope they consider bringing it back!

Oh gosh .i used to love cappuccino but it’s sooo bitter tasting now. It’s awful. What have they done to it? Can’t they leave anything alone.

The new improved taste Latte Macchiato is vile.
It takes so artificial, caramel and not like a latte at all
So disgusting
Struggling to find any of the original pods so am considering changing my coffee machine

I've recently been drinking Americano, strength 4, but wanted something stronger so went for Americano Intenso, strength 8. The result was disappointing there is no real difference between the two.

The new 'Improved' Latte is quite frankly DISGUSTING!
I used to love my 1 coffee in the evening after dinner but I am so disappointed with these new pods.
Unfortunately, I buy them on a subscribe & save, so now stuck with 12 boxes that I just can't see me drinking.
Such a shame as I will now have to look for a different brand.
Hopefully, Dolce Gusto will act on the negative comments and bring back our beloved coffee's!! 🙏

Awful. Don’t buy. Booklet came with machine stating they do dairy free pods. I was told by customer service they’re discontinued and they weren’t allowed to tell me other compatible pods I can use. They don’t cater to vegans or lactose intolerant people in 2026 which is crazy and appalling! I was offered a £5 discount code to compensate which is a joke. Returning the machine. Be better and cater to other groups of people. So angry.

Like many other reviews I have been buying Latte Macchiato Coffee Pods for years, the new improved taste is dreadful, tastes horrible, it needs a danger warning on the label, it now contains twice the amount of salt, 3% more Fat, significantly less fibre, the old product had 'Spectacular & Voluptuous' on the packet, its now described as "Indulgent and Creamy" , not according to my family it isn't, a great lesson on how to destroy a brand !

Really liked the latte but your so called new and improved taste is nasty and what is with the constant milk pods leaking all over the place i thought my machine had broken so got a new one amd nope still the same ..have been buying your machine and pods for years now sadly will have to go to another brand

The new improved dolce gusto latte macchiato coffee pods are not nice at all. Unfortunately, as a dedicated user and coffee addict I have resorted to trying to find an alternative to these new pods. Very disappointed and don’t understand why they have to change the taste.

Have used the Latte pods for years and loved it, new “improved” taste is awful can’t drink it, so disappointed.

I have been using Dolce Gusto pods for about 4 years now. Narrowed my choice down to 4 verities, flat white ,au lait, latte macchiato and cappuccino. Now i am down to 3 flavours. I can only describe the new macchiato as revolting.

Does anyone else have a problem with pods the pods splitting both coffee and milk. The milk just goes everywhere and coffee goes slow and then leaks everywhere. Doesn't happen everytime but wasted 2 coffee pods this morning.

Why have Dolce Gusto changed the latte macchiato pods? They used to be delicious but they are revolting now. I won't be purchasing any more. Horrible taste.
