Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 21 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed strong disappointment with the 'new improved' taste of the latte macchiato pods, frequently describing them as unpleasant, watery, and bitter. This change led numerous people to feel that the quality of their once-loved coffee has notably declined. Reviewers also encountered product quality issues, such as milk pods leaking and capsules not functioning correctly. Consequently, many long-term users are now stating they will no longer purchase these products and are actively seeking alternative brands. This widespread dissatisfaction has prompted several customers to consider changing their coffee machines entirely.

Why have Dolce Gusto changed the latte macchiato pods? They used to be delicious but they are revolting now. I won't be purchasing any more. Horrible taste.

Have used these pods for years but am noticing that they are getting weaker. I realise coffee is more expensive but we are paying more!. Having to use 2+ Americano pods for a stronger coffee. Sadly we... See more

Dolce Gusto

I would buy Dolce Gusto recently because I enjoyed one or two cups of coffee ☕ after work. However since the war in Ukraine the prices jumped from £2.99 / £3.50 to £4.00. Well, I gave up smoking 25 years ago and it didn't hurt my pocket. Believe me water 💧 is as good as coffee.....Goodbye Nescafe and Good Luck to you!!

Great coffee and machines

Great coffee and machines. If its leaking and splashing everywhere it's usually needs piercing plate removed and that's a cheap quick job as I discovered bit only 3* because I hate, super hate the new website. It lags and doesn't load properly and I want to buy a lungo intenso bundle and won't add yo basket and won't add anything else. Don't have my mocha anymore. Hubby likes the latte and I like the lungo decaff or lungo intenso. Bought yhe nepresso adapter pod tray and works a treat although handle going down with piecing plate feels like your going to break it but its fine. I have machine at home, motorhome and bought for both our kids for thier houses. Often a deal on them with bundle of coffee from amazon or dolce. Love the hot choc. Daughter has 2 of the hot choc pods instead of milk and choc as she's lactose intolerant. None of us a fan of the vegan ones.

Given up my machine and pods

My machine has lasted really well but I stopped buying the proper pods once they stopped the Mocha ones which were my absolute favourite. No warning - surely they can see who bought them regularly and let customers know they’re stopping. Only buy compatible pods including skimmed milk pods elsewhere now, just the mocha aren’t quite as nice. Pods are a lot cheaper too.

I was so pleased when DG started making Mocha pods again.
However the price of DG pods goes up so often, and they’re no longer affordable. I did shop around a bit and found cheaper ones from time to time.

Since January 25 I’ve been trying to follow a non UPF diet as much as possible and this has also meant I’ve had to give up the mocha pods, because they are definitely UPF.

Nescafé Dolce Gusto broke after six months

Six month old Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine started working randomly. Nescafé told me that it would be repaired under warranty. Three weeks after pickup I found a very large box on my doorstep that contained my machine wrapped in many metres of bubble wrap. No contact at all from Staffords Ltd before or during or after the machine was taken from me; no paperwork from Staffords Ltd on or in the box. Staffords repair? The machine does not work - precisely the same faults. A total waste of time. Wasted money spent on boxes of Nescafé coffee pods that are sitting in the cupboard. Nescafé have told me that the machine will be repaired under warranty i.e. Groundhog Day. Do not buy a Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine but, if you do, just buy your Nescafé pod boxes one at a time. Save yourself money and forget Nescafé's multiple box offers.

Lukewarm and mediocre coffee

I purchased this machine 3 months ago as a replacement for my Tassimo machine which had broken after 9 years of continuous daily use. I chose the Dolce Gusto because the pods were easy to get and there were very large numbers of compatible pods available. Sadly the machine is far from fit for purpose after two weeks water leaked through the bottom of machine every time it was used. I found that a small seal hadn't been fitted properly and was able to rectify the problem myself. The coffee that it produces is very hit-and-miss, occasionally a properly heated fairly acceptable cup of coffee is produced however on the whole it produces barely warm coffee and often almost cold coffee. On researching this problem I discovered that many others have the same situation. I have now purchased a replacement tassimo and despite the more costly pods it is worth the extra money to know that the coffee I make is hot and tastes like coffee. Please think carefully and read reviews before purchasing a Dolce Gusto machine I wish I had.

Excellent bought first machine 8 years…

Excellent bought first machine 8 years ago, later bought a larger machine, great choice and great quality, taste nice not like some other out there taste plastic, bit disappointed they stopped Caramel Chococino, I can’t understand some of the negative reviews on here, I’m picky about coffee, if it’s horrible I would not recommend, however Dolce Gusto is really nice, good quality and easy to use and I highly recommend it.

Customer service is appalling I purchased several boxes of pods was given a tracking number but delivery company hadn’t received items from them. Several emails asking where my items were was told that it was the courier fault which was a lie. Eventually after two weeks they arrived packing was terrible pods were just thrown in box and box was opened and holes in the sides where box was so thin will definitely not using this company again

Don't use Dolce Gusto, use Tassimo.

Don't use Dolce Gusto. Tassimo is far superior.
Dolce Gusto can't be bothered to process orders, then when you cancel and ask for a refund, they pretend it's already shipped when their own order tracker on their website shows it still hasn't even been picked. When you point this out, they go quiet and refuse to reply as they know they have been caught lying. Then later you get an email to say it is going to be shipped later, and again they refuse to reply.
Well 2 can play at that game, if these do eventually reply, I will refuse the delivery and go to litigation to get my money back.

By the way Tassimo tastes a lot better too. sitting here drinking it now. Cheaper machines and cheaper pods. I'm glad they convinced me to switch, and would recommend everyone else does.

Rubbish and rubbish pods

Well I have been bought a dolce gusto piccolo for Xmas. I was given this late last week. I have bought numerous boxes of pods. First of all it would be nice to have instructions in English. They seem to be in every other language but .after setting up and cleaning the machine I decided to try a few pods. The latte was black coffee. End of. The latte macchiato is just milk. The hot chocolate is just milk. Out of 6 boxes I’ve only found the cafe au lait any good. This is being sent back immediately. Utter rubbish. The machine itself is flimsy and you have to stand over it and wait. Or it overflows. Don’t buy.

Tried to order on the NEW ("!) website

Tried to order on the NEW ("!) website. Made a mistake but unable to cancel or delete the order. Contacted the Chat service, very curt and disobliging. Have been trying for two days now and still get no where. Have been using the site for several years now and have always found customer service a little 'iffy' and not too helpful.
Customer services responded saying they had cleared the order and I can now reorder.
This new webpage looks as though it is going to cause me problems !!,

Poor design poor pods mainly the milk…

Poor design poor pods mainly the milk ones, pods are of dubious batch quality, especially the Starbucks ones which regularly fail and squirt out all over the machine, which is so badly designed with multiple joints that you've guessed it! - impossible to properly clean when covered in milk, this happens at least weekly. Wiping it is very very fiddly, and does not get the milk out of the joints. You have been warned. Mine's in the recycling this morning!

Advice about faulty DG Piccolo machines

Bought Piccolo XS machine from Argos. Tried to clean it before first use as per instructions. It wouldn’t do anything. Returned to Argos as faulty and requested replacement, which arrived a few hours later. Same problem. Phoned Dolce Gusto customer service and told that a lot of people don’t know it needs to be reset. Why don’t they know? Because it doesn’t mention this in the manual. Was told how to reset, hey presto it worked. So the first device probably wasn’t faulty at all. Have emailed the company to suggest an addendum to the manual. How difficult would that be?
