Coming from an Accounting background, I thought, and after several conversations and requests to see even see screenshots of the work papers, that I was getting a “full” and “complete” workpapers to service a company. The Excel files are not “white glove” like they stress. The formatting and presentation of the Excel are as basic as they come, inconsistent formatting, and of port quality.

We have over 100 workpapers updated and add new ones every year. We have many world class CPAs (for example Chip, former Audit Partner at a national firm) that loves them so I'm uncertain which workpapers you think are missing? Why does a national partner think they are great but you don't? From Chip: " The "firm in a box" or "practice in a box" concept that Andrew talks about I've found to be true and it's what got me to sign up. My background is in Big 4 and large global firms, so someone else doing all the behind the curtain work is what I'm comfortable with.
Every work paper, every template, every letter and a full marketing approach are all part of the program. And, after 90 days, you'll be in the VIP program with weekly marketing calls (let's admit it, accountants aren't the best marketers!). They are 60 minutes of expert tips and I've found them to be a big help in growing my firm and securing speaking opportunities at conferences after only a few months."

Multiple 6 Figures Per Year for $10k 1 Time Payment

I bought the program. Some things were underwhelming but some things have made me multiple 6 figures over the years. You still need to be able to sell to own your own business, any business for that matter. But the the work papers and education on how to sell CFO services were new (thus useful) to me. How to craft an Offer for CFO services that actually gets accepted is where I was able to extract the 6 figures of ROI.

Do not waste your money on this program.

I was looking for a little help getting into the industry using my existing experience. The owner, Andrew Hunzicker, makes a lot of promises and talks a big game, but falls short of delivering. I was promised Andrew worked with us closely, that the group shared work with its members, that Andrew himself referred work to members, and that the members contracted with each other. None of this was true.

At the base level (as it existed when I first joined), you pay for access to a set of educational materials and weekly marketing calls. You can also a monthly fee for access to their “networking” group, which is just a poorly moderated Facebook group. If you don’t pay this monthly fee, you get zero assistance from the owner or his team because you “only” gave him $7k for access to educational materials.

The educational materials are terrible. This is an understatement. It exists as a messy website containing a few messy excel files (complete with formula errors), screenshots of different excel spreadsheets (so you can’t use them), screenshots of images and articles, defective URLs to articles, and outdated articles in various file formats. Additionally, none of them follow any kind of accessible format— the screenshots and scanned articles have no image descriptions, and none of the audio or videos have captions or transcripts. If you request accessibility accommodations, you are told “everyone gets equal access” and no accommodations will be made.

Additionally, the materials aren’t actually helpful. Nothing in them is ground-breaking. You could take a basic bookkeeping course and be better off (that’s what I did), and if you’re already a CPA or tax professional, you already know everything you need to know.

With the monthly fee, you get access to biweekly group calls as well, but these are all just more marketing-speak, with no new information after the first week.

If you have the audacity to ask about the program’s shortcomings, you are shamed in some way, usually publicly. Andrew is also incapable of putting anything important in writing— his usual response to any kind of communication is a short-form video (again, no captions or transcripts, or even a descriptive title), which doesn’t really answer the question. No matter what you say or ask, you are told that you aren’t paying close enough attention to the materials and that you aren’t putting in “the work.”

When I joined, he’d just created a mastermind and franchisee program, so all his efforts were going into getting money from masterminds and franchisees, and didn’t care about us peons who’d “only” done the base program and monthly Facebook fee.

If you search Andrew Hunzicker online, you see there are several programs like Dope CFO (such as the CFO College) with the similar marketing speak as Dope CFO. There are also logo images for major media outlets, but no links to articles about him or the companies he creates. The logos are just there to make you THINK he has ties to or he’s regularly contributed to major media outlets. I wish I’d found these spinoffs before I joined, because they’re full of red flags.

There is a competitor’s program that’s infinitely better than this one, and I wish I’d discovered it before I gave Andrew my hard-earned money.

Really surprised by this review and pretty certain I know who it is (ie read the last sentence and sent by my only competitor that I also trained as that person had exactly 0 real life CFO experience).

Anyway, anyone looking for reviews can read this one or search google as well as our website for many testimonials. You can also post in just about any Facebook accounting group and ask for feedback about DOPE CFO and you are very likely to get 95% or more positive feedback (try it out!)

A couple of quick notes: On the education piece of the program. We have sold that piece alone (at 10k) to several NATIONAL accounting firms without a single complaint. The education is over 100 hours covering the science of the plants, the verticals, software, insurance, banking, GAAP accounting for cannabis, and IRS federal codes (280e, 471, etc) as well as all the relevant tax court cases. Additionally I have covered in detail the entire 2023 and 2024 AICPA national cannabis conference summary (which I help plan and lead every year).

We have over 100 work papers, tools, SOPs and systems already built for you: onboarding tools, engagement and offer letters, price quoting tool, chart of accounts for all verticals, PBC lists, controls docs, day to day tools, month end tie out systems, month end reporting tools, financial models, pitch deck checklists and more. If you need it for your cannabis practice it is built and in the program (and now vetted by 100s of CPAs across the US as well).

Our marketing system to find clients is second to none, including live weekly calls with my marketing agency out of LA that is world class.

Go ask around in accounting groups and yes there are always complainers for any system, but you will find 9 out of 10 love our program and who we are! PS: I (the founder of the program and nationally recognized, award winning CPA and CFO) am on 95% of our live weekly calls
