Initially great, but now seems unusably slow

We are a small charity and needed a relatively small amount of cloud space for storing and sharing documents such as policies, minutes, reports etc, without incurring major costs. Google docs is only free for individuals and their free service for non-profit organisations is highly complex, ridiculously OTT, and I never managed to access the Google Drive feature, which was all we really wanted anyway!
Drime, on the other hand seemed perfect, providing just what we needed. It is simple to use, with enough free space for us and no unnecessary complication. Setting it up and sharing the login with my colleagues was dead easy.
But . . .
When I set this up for our charity, last September, it appeared to work well and the access speeds were quite acceptable. But now it seems to be dragging its feet - incredibly slow, such that accessing documents simply times out. Drime appears to use OnlyOffice to open documents, but from our trials, it doesn't work with pdfs - ever! Trying to open a small pdf took about 90 seconds at which time there was a notice "Download Failed". Opening a small Word file took about a quarter of a minute.
I don't know if this is a temporary problem, but it is a shame that such a great service should be marred by such slow operating speeds.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

What you’re experiencing is temporary, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration. We’ve had a significant influx of new users recently, which has put unexpected pressure on our infrastructure. We are currently upgrading our servers to restore and improve performance.

Our team is fully focused on stabilizing speeds and resolving these slow loading and timeout issues as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Drime Cloud storage unreliable

I have just started using Drime as I am shopping around for a replacement for Google Drive. Drime appeared to offer a lot for a reasonable price. Given this I started with the free version to see how I like it and compare it to other providers like Proton, Koofr, etc.

My experience:

1. Problem with the android app and not being able to review some PDF files. This is apparently a known problem with the Drime app and relates to the size of the PDF file etc. Then I noticed that when I open a doc in the android app, there is a bug where the same document is opened despite selecting another file. This is useless. I informed Drime of this problem. They did not respond and the problem persists.

It might be that Drime is just getting going and I would be happy to support a new company but only if my data was going to be held securely and that I can access it! Given the poor customer service and the lack of responsiveness in fixing the problems I will be deleting my account with Drime.

A pity as I am keen to make the switch and need to be assured that the provider is secure and the functions are well developed and stable.

Hi, thanks for your feedback.

Our applications are functional, but the specific workflow you are using, very large backup-style uploads, is not fully supported at the moment and is not the primary use case Drime is currently designed for.

Regarding the refund, your request was made more than one month after the purchase, which is outside our refund policy, so we were unfortunately unable to process it.

Good support, good pricing

Good support, very fast answers
Good price for lifetime plans , monthly prices
I forgot to see or ask if need more storage like 100 TB or more what a price will be
The only negative thing I saw is that the upload date files is updating daily. For example, I have uploaded files on 26 nov, but the date of uploads today is 5 december, tjis must be corrected.

Drime is worth using

Drime is a very promising startup. The direction the company is going is solid and the focus on collaborative and multiuser storage & app workspaces is an excellent choice. Photo and video apps worked well. Be aware some features are still in development or just promissory notes at this point in time.

UPDATE: now that rclone works perfectly in 2026, I think they are very usable. Upped to 5 stars

Calm, Capable and nearly Great Cloud service

I’ve been using Drime as my everyday backup-and-share hub, and it feels like a service built by people who actually use cloud storage. It’s not flashy for the sake of it; it focuses on the basics—syncing, sharing, and not losing your stuff — and generally gets them right.

What I liked is:
- Clean, calm interface: Files are where you expect them, and the web app doesn’t fight you. Uploading, renaming, moving—simple wins.
- Sync that feels trustworthy: Desktop sync is steady, with clear status indicators but it can be even more stabilized in terms of download speeds. I didn’t get the “mystery conflicts” that plague some tools.
- Collaborative Editing: Office productivity tools are easy to use and helps working with teams anywhere
- Sharing that’s thoughtful: Link sharing is quick, and permissions don’t feel buried. Expiring links and easy revoke give peace of mind.
- Little usability touches: Right-click actions, “copy link” at hand, drag-and-drop that actually works.

Where it needs work
- Speed under load: Large folders and many small files can feel slower than top-tier rivals. Parallel uploads and better delta sync would help.
- Smarter conflict resolution: A more human comparison/merge prompt would avoid guesswork when the same file changes on two devices.
- Space-saving on desktop: A true virtual drive with on-demand files (pin/unpin) would ease pressure on laptops with small SSDs.
- Media previews: Video and large PDF previews sometimes stall; adaptive streaming and better caching would improve flow.
- Admin tooling: For teams, richer roles, audit logs, and simple retention policies would make Drime more enterprise-ready.
- Transparency: A public status page and incident notes inspire trust when things go sideways.

Security and privacy
- The basics appear covered: Encryption at rest/in transit, 2FA support, device/session management. Setup is straightforward.
- What I want next: End-to-end encrypted “Vaults” (version-2) for truly sensitive folders, passkeys for passwordless sign-in, and a clear transparency report. Ability to change vault password is also required one. If Drime wants to court pros and businesses, SOC 2/ISO attestations and data residency controls are table stakes.

Apps and integrations
- Desktop and mobile apps feel consistent and are easy to set up.
- API is readily available
- Integrations yet to be tested

Pricing and value
- Drime feels fairly priced for personal use, especially if you value a clean UX and reliable syncing.
- For teams, value hinges on admin features, compliance, and support SLAs. If those mature,
- Drime becomes an easy recommendation.

Finally, there is room for improvement as Drime is pleasant to use, syncs reliably, and makes sharing painless. Collaborative editing of docs on Mobile version is expected.
If Drime doubles down on speed at scale, space-saving virtual drive tech, and privacy features like end-to-end encrypted vaults, it could punch above its weight and can easily contend with the giant players on the market.

The company's intentions are good for customers

The company's intentions are good. They want to provide a privacy-focused service that value a customer's privacy and security of their data. Their offering of a 20GB Free plan is extremely generous - there is no security-focused provider that provides 20 GB. I know since I did a lot of searching.
