  1. Legal Services

Written by the company

DriveProtect is a Membership organisation for Motorists in England and Wales who’ve either received a Speeding Ticket, or want to protect themselves in the event of future speeding issues. We retain specialist Speeding Solicitors on behalf of Members to give you unlimited legal advice relating to speeding and motoring offences, and — when necessary — to prepare your case and defend you at Court. We started in 2009, and have helped thousands of Motorists in that time. Is DriveProtect Good Value? Absolutely — it’s far better than that. When you’re “caught” speeding, going direct to a top solicitor can cost eye‑watering sums. I read about one pensioner who spent £12,000 just on consultation, case prep, and representation. That’s not unusual with high‑end lawyers! By contrast, DriveProtect membership is incredible value. You’d need to stay a member for nearly 34 years to spend the same amount as that one single case. For me, that makes DriveProtect a no‑brainer.

Excellent service

Having been stopped by the police recently for speeding (120mph on M6 Toll Road by unmarked BMW X5) I was in a bit of a predicament as, at the time of the offence, had 11 points on my licence.

I have to say at the outset it was my fault and I was speeding.

What being a member of drive protect provides is access to some of the best motoring legal brains in the country who are not judgmental and offer simple advice on each and every stage of the process through to the court appearance.

A listening ear just when you need it.

The appointed solicitor, after a phone discussion, decided that representation in court by a barrister was required and a barrister was instructed by the solicitor on my behalf.

Being in court is no walk in the park and a stressful time, but my barrister, with his evidence challenge and pointing out of salient legal points to the magistrates (three magistrates present on the day), of the options available to them in handling any sentence to me. this, obviously, was backed up by the clerk for legal advice to the magistrates.

The legal challenge came in the way the reporting police officer had presented his statement in the evidence bundle and is always a worthwhile task in checking this over with what you remember of the actual event. even write down what actually happened within 15-30 mins if you can. Road conditions, weather conditions, traffic conditions, light at the time of the alleged offence, what you said exactly to the police office, what he said to you etc etc. Remember, don’t exaggerate as it is on video and can be checked. This can work both ways !

I am doubtful that if I had not had access to this specialist service I would have had the same result.

I’ve been a member pretty much since it…

I’ve been a member pretty much since it started and have used the service a few times not because I’m a good driver but because I have been lucky and haven’t been caught!

As a self-employed taxi driver I cover about 50,000 miles a year and my licence is crucial to me no licence = no driving = no earnings !

The first time I used it we had to go to court as I was charged with failing to provide information about the driver of the vehicle the Barrister explained that I was in hospital and we won the day no points great result.

And recently I was leaving a 30mph zone and less than 20 yards from a no speed limit sign so started to gently accelerate there was a camera van parked on the opposite side of the road which I was well aware of but assumed it was there to catch drivers coming from the no speed limit into the 30mph.

I honestly thought that that when in an lower speed zone you could increase speed in preparation for entering the higher speed zone when you could see the sign. WRONG!!!

Matthew from drive protect checked it all out for me and the law is you can’t exceed the speed limit until you pass the sign even if it is only yards away but when coming from a higher limit you have to slow down and be under the limit when you pass the sign.

Originally the police refused to give me the option of a course but after a very stern letter from Matthew pointing out the Law they changed their mind and allowed me to go on the course RESULT!! no points.

I can’t speak highly enough of the very professional and extremely friendly service Matthew and his team provided five star and Drive Protect is worth every penny it costs. They have saved me a lot more than it has cost me without a doubt, try having a Barrister for a day and see how much that cost’s ?

I wouldn’t be without them

A very happy member

Very pleased with the service from Drive Protect.

I recently received an NIP, knowing that it was incorrect I was unsure what to do and was suggested by a friend to join DP.
Once I was signed up, everything was very straight forward and the helpful/friendly staff got me in contact with a solicitor within a couple of days.
They were able to tell me what to do, to confirm that I was indeed wrongly accused and had the NIP cancelled. I am very pleased and have recommended to my friends and family to join DP.

(not a lot of) Money Well Spent!

I’ve been a DP member for years now. I think I’ve used the service about three or four times, and guess what…it’s worth every penny of the £13 odd a month that I pay for it. I always speak to the same lawyer, Mathew Coxall. He’s a no nonsense guy who really knows his onions. He just tells you what to do. You do it. Problem solved. Money well spent!

Complete Rip Off - Avoid!

Total waste of money - paid a direct debit for years and then I phoned them as I received a speeding fine - no answer. So I emailed them......also no answer. What a rip off! Avoid

Hi Philip,

My apologies that we haven't replied previously. We have only just become aware that people leave reviews for DriveProtect on Trustpilot and have now set up notifications so that that we will receive any reviews such as yours by email.

First of all, I am very sorry that you didn't get the experience you were expecting.

Something obviously went very wrong and after almost a year I fear we will have no way to discover what that was.

Could I ask that you contact us via email or phone and we will attempt to make it right for you? If you have the email that did not receive a response I would appreciate it if you could forward to me personally and I will look in to what happened.

Best regards,

Adam
