This clinic change my life

I cannot stress enough how excellent my experience has been with this clinic. I've struggled my whole life with dismissive GPs fobbing me off with vague assumptions about anxiety and depression, giving me antidepressants I didn't need, not taking my request for an Adult ADHD assessment seriously, then refusing to give me a right to choose (RTC) referral, which forced me to waste another 2 years on a 3-4 year waiting list for assessment locally. I moved house and was subsequently kicked off that waiting list because I moved boroughs and there is no facility to transfer referrals in the NHS. I was heartbroken to be back at square one with what would have now been a 5 year waiting list ahead of me for the local NHS team to assess me.

But getting kicked off that list is the best thing that could have happened to me because I found a new GP in my new borough who is excellent. They saw how awfully I'd been treated around my previous referral and the impact it was having on my mental health. They understood and supported RTC, so referred me to Dr J and Colleagues for ADHD assessment without any hassle. Dr J and Colleagues accepted all of the information from my previous referral as supporting evidence without issue. Four months later I received the questionnaire to complete ahead of my assessment and had my virtual assessment appointment a month after that.

Dr Romina had read my history before the appointment and was very patient and understanding in listening to my responses during assessment. He quickly came to the conclusion that I had combined type ADHD. He referred me for medication titration which began a few weeks after my assessment.

I was lucky enough to have Marylyn Nathan Wilson managing my titration. She was so incredibly patient, kind, informative and helpful. Each month during the assessment we would try different medications until we settled on a type and dose that worked best for me. She would carefully monitor any changes including my blood pressure and communicated with my GP consistently to make sure they were informed and happy with the actions she took. She gave me lots of advice about how to get the best out of the meds such as increasing my water intake and eating more protein. She noticed from my feedback that my hormonal cycles have were affecting my experience with the meds and adjusted them to suit. She even made special arrangements for my medications to be delivered to my work address so I wouldn't struggle with missing the deliveries on my in office days. I would come away from each appointment with her feeling much better informed about my condition. I cannot thank her enough. She's now completing my shared care agreement for my medications to be managed by my GP going forward, which they will be very happy with as they've been informed at all times throughout the titration process. I will now see her again in a year to make sure all is still well.

The medication and support from the clinic has made such a huge difference in my life. I am able to cope so much better, perform better at work, manage things better at home, engage more socially, and sleep better. I'm also no longer on antidepressants (because I wasn't depressed I just had burnt out from unmanaged ADHD). My life generally feels much more structured and under control.

If you have been referred to this clinic, or are considering them for private assessment, you'll be in very good hands. I sincerely hope more NHS trusts take advantage of services like this through RTC to spread the load of the demand on services for ADHD and Autism. It really does make a world of difference for patients to get access to timely and thorough care instead of being left languishing on waiting lists while their mental health declines due to lack of support.

Marylyn Nathan-Wilson - Excellent, thank you!

I have had a good experience with Marylyn Nathan-Wilson (with Dr J & Colleagues) for titration on ADHD medication. I found her to be very thorough, patient and understanding and she was knowledgeable. She explained clearly how my other medication could be affected by ADHD stimulants and safely explored my options with me. I have not felt rushed and have found the experience to be positive. There has been good communication and I would highly recommend her.

Great patient oriented and understanding service

I have had such a positive experience getting my adhd diagnosis through Dr J and Colleagues. The main positive has been how nice and helpful and patient oriented the psychiatrist i have been speaking to, Marylyn Nathan-Wilson, is. Everytime we have an appointment she is brilliantly informative, understanding and helpful and has made the whole process a joy. It has been such a net benefit on my life that i cannot understate how happy i am. Many thanks Dr J and Colleagues and particularly Marylyn.

Excellent service at Dr J and Colleagues

All the staff at Dr J and Colleagues have been so helpful and patient and have guided me through diagniosis for Autism and ADHD so well that a process that I though would be daunting was actually straightforward.
They've taken me right through from diagnosis to titration.
Well recommended

Incredibly disappointing and unprofessional.

I have read some of the glowing reviews of this company. If only we had anything like the same experience! Instead, we have been dissatisfied with almost every aspect of how my daughter's case was treated, in relation to her symptoms of ADHD and autism. The key takeaways are incompetence, inappropriately conducted assessment, unconscionable delays, confusing and contradictory requests for additional medical data, failure to respond to emails, poor communication and lack of explanation or apologies - over 7 months, after which we gave up. We didn't go the Right to Choose route, choosing this company because it was close enough to have face-to-face assessments and would be quicker. How wrong we were about the speed! On making the first contact, this company was quick to request payment. This was the first and last example of efficiency. The first interview was for ASD, which was online, at the endof October 2024. I had to chase them up several times for the follow-up, which didn't take place until March 5, 2025. For the ADHD assessment, I had to make numerous requests to clarify where it would take place, not helped by a website that has an incorrect address. The interview was conducted in a small, windowless room, with bright strip lighting. This setting was very unsatisfactory, both for my daughter and her mother who struggles under bright lighting, which can lead to migraines. The assessor failed to make eye contact with either my daughter or her mother. The report, when it came 6 weeks later, lacked professional credibility. Apart from the numerous spelling errors, the report did no more than echo what was in the completed questionnaire and said at the meeting. Reading it gave no insights or showed analytic expertise. It was replete with evidence of poor assessment technique. For example, my daughter reported that I have some autistic traits. My autism is recorded as fact, without any further questions asked. However, when her mother said that she was autistic, she was asked if she had received a formal diagnosis. At the answer, No, he said that she wasn't autistic unless diagnosed. This exchange does not appear in the report. So it was deemed OK to report that I have autism, even though I have not been diagnosed, but not her mother's self-reporting of the same condition. Bizarre, and indicative. The next step was to provide an echocardiogram and ECG. I asked for clarification, and asked again a week later, and was told that they wanted 'a normal ECG and 24-hour ECG'. I sent the results on Feb 4, and heard nothing. I chased them up, again, was told that one report was missing. Not true. Both were in the email. Then they said that the 'normal' ECG was not sufficient, and should have been a 12 lead ECG. Having provided this, they then demanded the results of a 24-hour heart rate monitor over 2 weeks. Over and over, our experience has been extremely disappointing. This company has held up what our daughter needed. It was at this point we looked for another company offering relevant services. Within a week, we received excellent service from this new provider. No extra readings required.

I have regained control of my life!

I had the pleasure of being allocated Maralyn Nathan-Wilson, a pharmacist who is part of the titration team with Dr J & Colleagues .
She truly goes above and beyond. After being diagnosed with ADHD, I was nervous about finding the right medication and dosage. Maralyn's kindness, empathy, and patience put me at ease. She took the time to listen and understand my needs, working with me to find the perfect solution. Her dedication and expertise are truly exceptional. I'm grateful to have found the right treatment and feel like I've regained control of my life. Maralyn is a shining example of the excellent care provided by Dr. J and colleagues. ASD assessment

I have just had my ASD assessment with Dr J & colleagues and I couldn’t be happier with the whole process!
I was so nervous and scared but the whole way through everyone was so kind, compassionate and made me feel so at ease. I had Dr Laura Jackson and Dr Verela Cipriano and both doctors were amazing. They really made me feel so comfortable and understood and I never felt rushed, if I didn’t understand anything they were really patient and excellent at explaining things for me.

The admin team have also been brilliant, always so kind and helpful, and extremely prompt at getting back to me whenever I had questions

I would highly highly recommend Dr J & colleagues

Thank you so much everyone for making such a big moment in my life easier ☺️

Titration Experience

I have been going through titration with Marlyn Nathan-Wilson, who has been an absolute gem in dealing with my case, helping me find the right medication and in being friendly, professional, and putting me at ease.

She clearly cares very strongly about her patients and patient safety and is a credit to Dr J.

Thank you Marylyn!

I'm grateful to have selected Dr J and Colleagues through the NHS' right-to-choose scheme primarily due to the fact that I've been put in the hands of Marylyn Nathan-Wilson during the titration process.

I have less positive things to say about the Administration at the clinic and the general management, although the process is overall more smooth and swift than going through the NHS, I don't get the impression that the higher-ups at this clinic care about their patients: the administration is disorganised; they are hard to contact via anything but email; and provide little follow-up or care. With that being said, I don't think this is outside of the norm for other clinics that provide right-to-choose care for ADHD. In fact, I can commend Dr J and Colleagues for being quicker on average than the other clinics available.

However, the people on the front-line who deal directly with patients during the titration process are a godsend. I've got nothing but positive things to say about Marylyn who has gone above and beyond to ensure that my concerns are heard and addressed. It is through her efforts that I've been able to have all the time that I need to try different medication options in an array of different doses, she has treated me with endless patience and empathy and has had to overcome the clinic's rigid and inefficient procedures to ensure that we find the medication option that is most suited to my needs.

I really cannot overstate the impact of having a carer like this in charge of your treatment, the titration process can be inherently stressful and time consuming, but having someone in your corner who you can rely on and trust to have your best interests at heart makes all the difference. I truly believe Marylyn is the epitome of what a carer should be, and I'm only writing this review to ensure that she gets the credit and appreciation she deserves.

Marylyn Nathan-Wilson

I'd like to thank Dr J & Co for their help and assistance in getting both my ADHD and Autism assessment completed in a timely manner. I used the 'Right to Choose' to initiate the assessments. At first it was for ADHD however the ADHD clinician I noted as I should under go an Autism assessment - this was amazing as it meant I had finally in my life 'all the pieces' needed - since my teens I was told my issues stemmed from Anxiety/Depression. Dr J & Co were also very helpful when there were issues with Derbyshire NHS services they resolved the delays in a timely manner. I must really highlight the assistance and guidance Mary Nathan-Wilson provided to me during the titration period. Mary is a kind soul who approaches you with empathy, patience and understanding. I found communication clear and to the point (necessary for AuDHD) and she had expedited my medications quickly as she undersold the urgency, the issues with Derbyshire NHS meant I had no medication for over month. Thank you to all at Dr J & Co.

This isn’t a healthcare provider

This isn’t a healthcare provider. It’s a disappearing act.

I was diagnosed with ADHD by a contracted doctor from Dr J and colleagues in April. It is now nearly July and I’ve heard absolutely nothing since. No prescription. No follow-up. Not even a “hey, we forgot you exist.”

The first time I was supposed to have an assessment, nobody bothered to tell me. The doctor just rang me out of nowhere. Luckily, I was free and could take the call. Apparently this is their standard approach. No notice. No structure. No basic professionalism.

Since then, silence. I’ve called. I’ve emailed. My GP has done the same. Still nothing. If this were a group project, they’d be the ones who ghost the team and then try to take credit at the end.

If my diagnosis involved suicidal thoughts, we’d be talking about something a lot more serious. Thankfully it doesn’t. But that doesn’t make this any less appalling.

At this point, I’m tempted to try smoke signals or tie a letter to a pigeon. Maybe that would get a response.

I could not be more disappointed in this so-called “practice.”

Great experience, I was quite frustrated at first but Marilyn Nathan Wilson was so patient and understanding.
A few face to face meetings later and I'm definitely feeling the benefits from the experience.
It's definitely not a fast process but it's definitely worth the work.

Very happy with Dr. J’s.

I asked for Dr J’s as my right to choose after going through the long process of getting a diagnosis for ADHD. My teenage son had his titration with Dr Tsakiri who was great and I felt it would be a good idea to be with the same clinic. The correspondence from the admin team is always professional and friendly.
After receiving my diagnosis I started my titration with Marylyn Nathan-Wilson. As others here have said, she is such a lovely, warm person. She has been very patient as I navigate the world of ADHD medication. I’m still on that journey at the moment but am reassured that I have Marylyn who has my best interests at heart.
Thank you Marylyn!
