Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 773 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Customers frequently praise the helpfulness and politeness of the staff, including mechanics and recovery drivers, who often arrive quickly and resolve issues efficiently. Many appreciate the good service received, with some noting that the process from initial contact to recovery was well-handled and reassuring. The pricing is also seen as a positive, with several reviewers finding the cover to be affordable and comprehensive. However, some customers also noted significant issues with contacting the company, often finding it difficult to speak to someone directly by phone and being directed to online forms or emails that sometimes missed the point. A recurring concern is unexpected charges, particularly related to automatic renewals without prior notice, cancellation fees, and additional administrative charges for policy changes. There are also instances of poor communication and dissatisfaction with the service when it came to specific breakdown situations, with some feeling stranded or facing unexpected costs for specialist equipment.

WILL NEVER USE AGAIN OR RECOMEND.

WILL NEVER USE AGAIN OR RECOMEND.
I called them once for a flat tyre (no spare), no issues (but noticed subsequent call outs for same issues would instigate an additional fee - not helpful with 4 tyres on a car and no spare provided). Did not realise auto-renew was on - first year renewed without me realising at a significant jump in cost. Renewed this year, I went to cancel the policy the very next day, assuming it was a 14 day cooling off period but they wanted to charge me. Wrote email to customer services, they said it was auto renew and nothing they can do, but cooling off period does apply?! Queried where I had agreed to auto renew and received detailed AI-assisted email highlighting dates and various policies etc. Clearly this is a frequent query/complaint they receive!
Cancelled policy at a cost of £26 (which was about the same price of my original policy 2 years previously). Noticed that current policies were set for monthly payments, so I have queried where I had agreed to that, assuming previous policies were paid in one lump sum. Awaiting reply.
Absolute con of a company that clearly makes the majority of their money from auto-renewals and/or cancellations of auto-renewal policies. I possibly would’ve kept the policy if I hadn’t had breakdown included with my new insurance, so it’s probably a good scam to be running. I will never use them again, and I will certainly never forget their name. Absolute joke who clearly dont care at all for customers, only their bank balance.

Very bad service and poor response to complaints

Phone insurance for 3 years. £70 the first year, £90 odd the next and most recently, £34 to start the cover, £8 every month and £12 to cancel. I received no renewal invite or notification, just charged my card repeatedly. No idea what the charges were for. I never agreed to auto renewal and you can't actually contact them to cancel. When I tried to resolve, Customer Service Team repeatedly ignored my requests. Just said the fees were due. No investigation or explanation. When I asked to log a complaint, again refused and sent to another email department. Now backwards and forwards with a Support Team who are more responsive than Customer Service but still not actually understanding the issue. It's not fair or appropriate to charge a customer if you haven't sent renewal documents or notice. I received them last year, why not this year?! Very frustrating and overall would not recommend.

Great service and assistance

Dynamo were very helpful when I required assistance, the phone call was easy and straightforward getting straight through to a customer assistant person. They then communicated a timeframe, which the recovery vehicle arrived ahead of predicted time and they were very helpful with my problem and getting me back on the road

An unethical dishonest company

If i could rate this company with a zero i would. Steer clear of this company, they are sneaky in how they auto renew your policy, increase charges without any warning and make it highly difficult and costly to cancel a policy. Their portal is deliberately unhelpful as are their staff when emailing them. A dishonest company on every level

I bought a ‘one month’ European…

I bought a ‘one month’ European breakdown cover (£24) from dynamo in May 2026, received confirmation email detailing the arrangement, along with duration of the policy, and link to the policy docs. However, they auto renewed and said took a June payment, which I’ve cancelled and they charged £28 to cancel - what a bunch!!!

Cancellation within cooling off period

Wanted to cancel a car breakdown cover 4 days after renewal policy do to high renewal cost. When I went on the website not only lost first payment £35 but charged cancellation fee of £22 plus admin fee. I had to pay extra just to cancel. A classic example of small print, charges were not clearly visible. When contacted them just a statement that they have a right to do it.

Ravenscroft recovery company provided excellent roadside service and advice. They arrived exactly on time, let me know when they were coming and soon got me on my way. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the man that attended was so helpful, offering me advice that was really helpful.

Terrible company

Full of hidden fees, manage to email you when you take policy but for some unknown reason the renewal reminder finds its way into your spam so you miss it, then when you explain you don’t have the car anymore and didn’t know it auto renewed, you get smacked with more fees and the tone of the email is terrible, arsey and rude

We had a straightforward breakdown…

We had a straightforward breakdown (flat battery) in the Netherlands. The company initially offered to tow me to nearby garage, rather than offer roadside assistance. I had to insist to make sure the mobile mechanic would attempt a repair (which would be straightforward in this case), rather then automatically recover me to a garage.

The experience was otherwise great, and the roadside assistance was available within about 90 minutes (following quite a few admin questions regarding the duration of our trip, and other additional questions because of the claim from outside the UK).

NEVER use this insurer

NEVER use this insurer. They are impossible to contact by phone when I tried to cancel my policy and they made me pay extra charges when I did eventually have to cancel the policy. Horrible customer service and expect to lose a lot of money!
