Very helpful mechanic arrived within two hours and fixed the problem quickly. I liked the tracking updates so I could see how far away the mechanic was. The only reason its not 5 stars is because two... See more

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND STAY AWAY FROM DYNAMO
On Thursday, 15th January 2026, at 7:52PM, I made an initial request for assistance through the Breakdown App.
I did not receive recovery until 11:37AM on Friday, 16th January 2026. This amounted to a total waiting time of 15 hours and 45 minutes, which is, quite frankly, unbelievable.
At first, Dynamo sent a ‘Roadside Resource Technician’ to assess the situation. The technician determined that the fault was too serious to resolve at the roadside, so a recovery vehicle was arranged.
At 9:16PM on Thursday, 16th January, a Recovery Operator was allocated with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) of 120 minutes. However, this operator later cancelled, stating they could not commit to attending.
Dynamo then began the process of contacting other Recovery Operators. However, it soon became apparent that allocating a Recovery Operator was far more challenging than they had anticipated. By 9:45PM, no alternative Recovery Operator had been secured for that night.
As a result of these difficulties, I was forced to stay overnight at a hotel. The recovery was rescheduled for the following morning, and I was informed at 06:23AM that a Recovery Operator had been allocated, with a further ETA of 215 minutes (an additional wait of 3 hours and 35 minutes).
At 10:23AM, I was informed there was another delay, as the operator was dealing with a different breakdown. The estimated arrival was now set for 12:00 midday. The operator eventually arrived at 11:37AM, nearly two hours later than the original ETA.
After my vehicle was finally loaded onto the recovery truck for the journey home—which should have taken around 90 minutes—the driver decided to collect another vehicle en route. This vehicle was dropped off first, resulting in the total journey taking three hours instead of the expected ninety minutes.
Compensation was provided for the hotel stay, along with a further £50 for the inconvenience caused. However, this gesture felt rather insufficient given the ordeal endured.
All the above facts have been provided in writing by Dynamo and have been verified by them.
In light of this experience, I strongly advise others to AVOID Dynamo at all costs.
Money for nothing
Dynamo were incredibly un helpful. My vehicle broke down before a trip to France, so I was unable to take it. This was 10 days before the policy started. They would transfer it, at a cost, which is understandable, but this was not an option. They said if I cancelled, then I would owe them MORE money!!!! So I paid for nothing. The communication was uncaring. I will never use or recommend them .
I tried cancelling my breakdown cover…
I tried cancelling my breakdown cover policy as cost had tripled, tried to get my online account portal but kept just getting a page with Dynamo’s logo and no way of getting into my account. No phone number to call to talk to someone about the difficulties I was having. Sent emails to their Admin dept to say I wanted to cancel but couldn’t get into my account. They responded saying that to cancel my policies I needed to do it online and sent me screen shots of the pages I needed to fill out. Numerous emails were sent stating that I couldn’t get into the website to cancel, the responses were You Need To Cancel Online. 3 days I tried to get into my account online to cancel without success, I emailed them asking if this was a scam, no response. Friday morning a payment was pending from my bank for £76.10 to Dynamo Insurance, I emailed them again with my concerns and was told again to go online. I was shocked that I could finally get the website and enter my account to cancel. But the biggest shock was that I had to pay more to cancel, an additional charge higher than the £76 !!!! I’ve contacted my back to cancel the auto renewal payment saying that I was Scammed and that a crime had been committed because I was denied access to my account before renewal. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!

Increased renewal premium by 72.85% without any communication
I insured my iPhone with Dynamo Cover and never made a claim. At renewal, they gave no notice of auto-renewal or the new price—despite this being expected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
They then increased my premium by 72.85% without any warning. I only noticed after checking my bank statement.
When I contacted them, they refunded me but gave no explanation. This feels like a tactic relying on customers not noticing price hikes. Very poor transparency—check your statements carefully.

Read reviews before deciding, Avoid is my opinion
They tempt you with cheap breakdown cover, they get your initial payment, and they know that if you cancel they will get your money and more through their terms and conditions, knowing not many peeps read them, making money for nothing, great scam, After sending in various photos of my dashboard and seemed a lot of hassle to just send in mileage and dashboard pic.
I got frustrated and decided the hassle was not worth it, have to say the replies I got were not helpful, and more oriented towards highlighting it was going to cost me to now cancel within the cooling off period, and to the point of feeling this company was holding me to ransom.
I decided at one point to just cancel this policy and this was before it began, but to my surprise it was going to cost me more to cancel than what the policy was actually worth, so they were keeping what I paid and wanted a further 48p.
It’s in their terms and conditions and they have every right, be careful, ensure you want to do business with this company, I asked to not implement automatic renewal and remove my bank details, this was going to cost me a further £60 as my policies had a discount and I would need to repay this.
I finally provided photos they wanted and within the 14days requested or it would cost me a further £8+ for not doing so.
I’ve decided to cut my losses before I lose anymore money to this bunch after reading other views on them, It’s all about the money for this lot, especially looking at the terms and conditions.

amazing and kind customer service when you need it most during a breakdown , call handlers go above and beyond to help and support . fast recovery and made such a horrible situation so much better with their efficiency and kindness

The year in which I was covered I never had to make a claim so I was happy. Paid approx £18 for the year.
Come renewal, money left my account for £14ish for first month then £6ish per month ongoing.
I never received a renewal email and I had to pay a £15.99 cancellation fee 2 days into the 2nd years policy.
I contacted them advising that I hadnt received a renewal instruction and I wanted to cancel but was given a generic response of
"Please note that the Platform operates on an execution-only basis. This means you are responsible for all insurance decisions and actions relating to the policies and contracts you enter into. This includes, but is not limited to, purchasing, amending, renewing, and cancelling policies."
I reluctantly paid the cancellation charge out of principle and took an alternate option with another provider for about £10 for the first year.
Wouldnt use again

Amazing service easy to report a breakdown and updates for driver arriving were great also arrived to help within the hour and had car at garage promptly
Avoid this company tried to cancel…
Avoid this company tried to cancel within 14 day cooling off period for two policies and was charged £15.99 for each policy todo this.
You cannot speak to anyone, very impersonal.
Buy cheap and you get a cheap- load of rubbish. I would not recommend. Sticking with Green Flag.
Just imagine if you actually had a breakdown, would they even help without them piling on loads of extra charges….
Genuinely the worst
Genuinely the worst. I called them on a Friday to report a breakdown at home, they sent a recovery truck rather than a diognostic van. ON GOOD FRIDAY, no garages open which they knew, Charged me for that. But as they agreed they sent the wrong thing they said we won’t charge your next recovery, well next recovery 3 days later, (car found to be really broke) they did infact charge me and left me on the road for 5 hours. THEN called to discuss “specialist charges” which I refused, they took my car to a garage. That is is. After 5 hours on roadside. Made a complaint, week later still waiting a response. Recovery person also broke my gear stick. Genuinely the worst. DO NOT waste your money. They just call recovery company’s available at the time to assist you. It’s basicly a PA for car breakdown. Give you a list what’s “covered” but many many loop holes, honestly just go with AA. Funnily enough a AA van stopped to help me within my 5 hour wait time, and advised to go with them I can assure you I will. Doooooooo not waste your time with dynamo it’s cheap for a reason. DISGUSTING
Beware add ons that auto renew beyond your single trip policy
I bought single trip European breakdown cover for 10 days, and selected the options to add pothole cover and guaranteed vehicle hire. The way these options were offered made it appear (to me, anyway) that they were connected to my single trip cover, but in fact they were set to renew monthly, and to cancel them (which I did as soon as I noticed) I had to pay £7.50 early exit fee per option. I could have continued them for a second month, then cancelled without the fee (which would have saved me a few pounds) but by this point I didn't really trust the company to be transparent about the process, so I decided to cut my losses and run. I did read the details of my main policy, it just didn't cross my mind they would be selling me add ons that would extend beyond the period of the breakdown cover I had purchased. Clearly, this is my error, but it surely isn't accidental that this information is not clearly presented to avoid these kind of errors. I can't comment on the quality of the breakdown cover as I didn't have to claim. I do wish I'd paid more attention to negative reviews which mentioned renewals issues, but I didn't think they would apply in my case as I was only buying a fixed single trip policy.
Avoid at all costs.
The company took payment i didn't agree too. Didn't send me policy documents when my renewal was due. Autorenewed without my permission. Tried to cancel same day and they want me to pay £47 to cancel. There no contact number to speak to someone. I email asking for help and got a very rude response even though I explained I was a vulnerable customer. Avoid at all costs.

Excellent service
Excellent service. The mechanic, who was friendly and helpful, came quickly even though we were still at home and not in any danger. The problem was diagnosed and sorted very efficiently.
Home puncture assistance
I had a puncture at home and was transported to a garage by a secondary provider. The call was answered quickly and the Dynamo staff were polite and helpful.
Unfortunately they couldn’t get me the home assistance I needed until the next morning or it would have been 5stars.
