⭐ 1 STAR – TRUSTPILOT RATINGS ARE MISLEADING. ECONOMYBOOKINGS IS A DISGRACE
I genuinely do not understand how EconomyBookings has so many so-called “five-star” reviews on Trustpilot, because our experience was nothing short of a complete scam. Either people are reviewing a totally different company, or Trustpilot needs to seriously explain how reviews like ours are drowned out.
EconomyBookings ruined our Christmas holiday and showed zero accountability from start to finish.
Before travelling to Jamaica, we contacted EconomyBookings to change the named drivers from my wife (who does not drive in Jamaica) to myself and my brother. We were told clearly “no problem” and asked to send copies of our driving licences — which we did exactly as requested.
When we landed on 15th December, the car was UNUSABLE because the local provider said only my wife was listed as a driver. From that moment onward, EconomyBookings ghosted us completely. Repeated calls and messages over more than a week were met with the same meaningless response: “we’re dealing with it”. They were dealing with absolutely nothing.
Only then did we discover — conveniently too late — that EconomyBookings had outsourced our booking to a third party in Jamaica, something that was never made clear at booking. That third party was blatantly not legitimate. When we went to find them, it was a shack in the middle of nowhere, rubbish on the table, no professionalism, and often no one even there.
Because it was Christmas, hiring another car was impossible. We were forced to spend hundreds of pounds extra on taxis, including a long journey from Montego Bay to Trelawny, after waiting over five hours with no support, no assistance, and no concern from EconomyBookings.
We paid £574, and let me be crystal clear: the ONLY reason we got our money back is because we booked with American Express. Had we not, we would absolutely have been left out of pocket. EconomyBookings had no intention whatsoever of refunding us. When we complained after returning home, we received nothing more than a dismissive “sorry”. No apology, no ownership, no responsibility.
I have been driving for over 25 years, and this is by far the worst car hire experience of my life. EconomyBookings take your money, outsource you to dodgy, undisclosed third parties, then abandon you when things inevitably go wrong.
This review is written to warn others — because judging by the inflated Trustpilot score, people are being misled. If Trustpilot is endorsing companies like this with high ratings, then that in itself needs questioning.
If you value your money, your holiday, and your sanity — DO NOT USE ECONOMYBOOKINGS. They are incompetent, misleading, and completely untrustworthy. Absolute disgrace.

I booked a car throug Economy Booking

I booked a car through EconomyBookings.com for pick-up at Berlin Brandenburg Airport on 29 Dec 2025. I arrived on time, was ready to rent, and offered to provide any proof needed — even suggested paying cash — but the car was not released because of a name-on-card issue.
At the counter, I was explicitly told this situation was normal and that I should contact the booking platform for a refund. Instead, I have been ignored for weeks and my refund request is still denied.
This company took my money and did not provide the service I paid for. Their customer support is slow, contradictory, and unwilling to resolve the issue fairly.
Avoid this broker. This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing.

I reiterate what others have said.

I reiterate what others have said.. do not use this company. I booked a car, but the rental company called me and said they had none. Even so economybookings took my money, So far after 7 days of contact and calls I have got no where re the reurn of over 300 euros.
So I will be filing a claim and making sure that people know about their terrible support.

Economybookings.com defrauded me

On August 16th, Economy Bookings (agent of a rental company) requested for my credit card details for a car rental service to be provided in Toronto on August 18. I obliged thinking it was a responsible company. They took my money without complaining. The rental company "City Car & Truck Rentals" picked me on schedule at Toronto Pearson airport to their office. I had my Driver license, international passport, a printed voucher and my credit card with my name inscribed clearly. However, the rental company refused to release a car to me claiming that the credit card would expire in September. My rental service was supposed to be from August 18 to August 25 when I would have returned the car. But all the rental company did not care. I left without being assigned a car with a Uber. I called the support line of Economy Bookings and reported the incidence. I was asked to fill an online form to report the case. I did this on August 19. I have written several emails and called Economy Bookings to follow up. ALl my cries have fallen to deaf hears. They claimed that probably I missed my schedule time, they claimed that the rental company might not give me a car if I was under the influence of alcohol, they claimed that I needed to show that I am the primary driver and my name is inscribed on the credit card, they claimed that perhaps it was a case of no show. I responded step by step to all these untruths, yet Economy Bookings has refused to refund my money (330.03 USD). I went to another car rental company at Richmond Hill, in Canada, hired a car using the exact same credit card and returned the car on August 22.

I have been so gentlemanly to explain each of the untruth to Economy Bookings and make them pay me back my money but all fell unto deaf hears. This is a clear case of a Corporate company using their platform to defraud people. I wonder what it cost them to refund money for a service that was never provided. A service that was glairing that I met all the terms and conditions of the service, yet because there is no way I can take my money back, they have refused to refund my money.

I wish to use this platform and more platforms to spread the word that Economy Bookings is a FRAUDULENT company, anybody dealing with them will be doing so at his/her own risk.

Warning

WARNING to potential users of Economy Bookings.
We have had a very poor and costly experience and their customer services team is unhelpful and unresponsive.
Almost to the stage where this feels like a scam.

In our experience, they use the cheapest suppliers they can in each location and that brings with it a real problem.
We used them in Sardinia in August and the rental company they used had the largest queue by far of all circa 20 rental firms at the airport.
As we stood in the two hour queue, we noticed that at least 75% of people got turned away with no car, causing a horrendous start to peoples holiday.
We were confident everything was in place for our booking having rented hundreds of cars over the years, however, they found a reason not to let us have the car. The reason was pathetic and not in their terms of business.
(I can explain the reason if people are interested).

We called economy bookings from the desk while being served, yet they weren’t able to help. They told us to email them.
We emailed them but they still said they can’t help.
We emailed them again and we have now heard nothing.
Very poor.
We have lost our sizeable deposit, we wasted 3 hours and had considerable stress at the airport and we had to hire another car direct from the airport at considerable expense.
It ruined the start of our holiday.

The moral of the story is to go direct to a well-known car company and perhaps pay a little bit more at the outset.

Just don't. Good luck getting your money back. "Your" e-wallet is a locked vault.

I purchased full coverage, had a flat tire in El Salvador. The rental company that EconomyBookings set me up with charged me $70 dollars and EconomyBookings covered that. All good.

However, they make it impossible to actually get that money from EconomyBookings. They put it in "your" E-Wallet, which can only be used to reserve another rental with EconomyBookings. I'm still in the process. Here's what I ran into so far

- No way to withdraw the money yourself and it expires after some time, which means they keep it.
- I called and was met with an "AI Assistant" who wouldn't listen, but instead it pitched their service over and over. I said "connect me with an agent" a few times before it finally listened.
- A guy picked up the phone who listened and sent me an "email with instructions on how to withdraw the money".
- The email told me how to submit a form for them to contact me with my concern. Lol. Thanks a lot.
- After submitting the form. it said they will get back to me in "5-7 business days"

Ridiculous. I paid for full coverage, and when I ended up using it...they give you a gift card. Go to hell.

If I could give this pathetic scam…

If I could give this pathetic scam agency minus five stars, I would! I booked a car this July at the Bari airport. My flight had an engine problem so we landed late. As we landed I called the car company to realize that they did not even have cars at the airport and that they were closed... I stood there like a package that no one picked up. I had to take a 30 Euro Taxi to my hotel, and in the morning, a 40 Euro taxi to the dilapidated industrial shed where this company had their cars... Not only did they not apologize for not waiting for me with a car (YES! they had my flight information), they expected a thank you from me that they are not canceling my reservation because I never came to collect the car I reserved!!! I have never encountered an audacity like this. Just for that, I would close this company for good! However, the dreadful behavior went on: I then proceeded to get the car (which I fully paid online for) but was refused because I do not have a physical card with me. I have all the card detail to enter the information manually, I paid for the car IN FULL online and I have the digital wallet. But, No. The claimed that they can not do it, and that is it. (I had rented a car in Rome from Hertz with a card online and manual card detail entry - no problem at all). I was sent away from their office (or that is what they called this shed) with no car, lost the money I paid online and zero apology. I then returned to the airport and successfully rented a car from Hertz! Conclusion: Economybookings.com is a horrible organization that spits in the face of their customers and should be shut down!

Absolutely Appalling Experience – Avoid at All Costs

Do not trust the quoted prices from Economy Bookings – they are completely misleading. When I arrived at the rental location, I was told I needed to pay five times the amount that had been agreed upon in my original booking. The rental company blamed Economy Bookings, claiming they had already notified them of the pricing error. Yet Economy Bookings took no responsibility.

What followed was a painfully slow and useless back-and-forth via email with Economy Bookings, who took an average of 4–5 days to respond each time. Their final answer? Because I signed the rental agreement (which I had no choice but to do in order to get the car), they would not refund me.

I asked them a very straightforward question: what exactly was I supposed to do when the rental company refused to release the car unless I paid the extra? Sit in the office and wait 5 days for Economy Bookings to respond? It’s been 6 days since I asked this and – surprise – no reply.

Terrible, terrible company. Their customer service is a complete joke and their pricing is a scam. A wonderful way to start your holiday after a long flight – being held hostage at a rental desk.

Avoid this company at all costs. The price you are quoted will not be the price you pay.

This is by far the worst customer…

This is by far the worst customer service I ever experienced
We rented a car in Sicily. On Day 2 the car broke Down. It took a whole Day to get a replacement and we had to pay for transport to the airport to change it. No compensation. Instead we had to make a new rental. New deposit. Then it took nearly 2 months to g’et the deposit back. And now it has been 6 months to try to get compensated for the expenses to take a taxi to the airport
We raised our claim immediately through their customer support.

Economy bookings is scam

Economy bookings is scam, no customer service and you cannot talk to the customer service through their number. Emails no response. Some car rental supplier are also scam , bring you there (offsite of airports car rental center)with Lower pice but no car available (they don’t have many car may be only a few) only the expensive Jeep Convertible charge you much higher than market price. Don’t expect you can get your money back through email with them.

This is the worst booking service…

This is the worst booking service booked a car 3 weeks ago. Have trying to get in touch since then as they haven’t confirmed yet took the money. Every time they put me on hold and hang up, last time 24 hours before my flight they said will talk to the manager and call back didn’t receive any call and called again so the next one tells me yeah i can see that the call dropped apparently no one was supposed to call she tricked me saying this to hang up and then requested to talk to the manager this agent also put me on hold and hang up on me.

Car hire cancellation/no refund

I have taken out a car hire in Malta, only to turn up and the hire company did not have the vehicle requested, so tge booking was cancelled on the spot. Contacted Economy bookings for a refund, which turned out very difficult and a refund was not given, I would never use them again and will mot recommend to anyone looking tir a hire car, use other known companies.

Title: Beware of Fraudulent Companies Listed on EconomyBookings.com

I am extremely disappointed with EconomyBookings.com. I recently booked a car rental through their website which was advertised as Zezgo. Upon arrival, I found out the actual provider was Active Rental Cars, a company notorious for scamming customers by withholding deposits.

Despite numerous attempts to resolve this issue with EconomyBookings.com, including multiple emails, they have not responded or provided any assistance in recovering my €650 deposit. It's clear they are aware of the fraudulent practices of some companies listed on their site, yet they continue to promote them, putting customers at risk.

I have trusted EconomyBookings.com for years, but this experience has completely shattered my confidence in them. Their refusal to help and the lack of response to my concerns are unacceptable. I strongly advise against using their service until they take responsibility and ensure the legitimacy of the companies they work with.

Stay away from EconomyBookings.com if you value your money and peace of mind!

scam

scam, cheating and bad service.
Do not rent through them. Offer of 45% changes to full price when withdrawing from one's account. Free cancellation is a scam! they do not give a full refund without taking a 60euro fee. For what!!! Sending my money back cause they change the price!
Fraud and cheating company! Avoid them!

i placed a claim since my last time i used the service (march 2016) without a serious answer.
Once they took your money, they stole it. my reservation number is B52122302 and i'm still waiting answer from them.

i real scam. don't use this company never i'm very mad with economic booking.
