“Same old song and dance” (Aerosmith). That’s the best way to describe EG4’s warranty support.
My EG4 DIY mini-split failed after only 5.5 months when the quick-connect fitting cracked and dumped all the refrigerant. After ~25 emails, calls, and 6 weeks of frustration, EG4 finally offered to send a line set — but never gave a date. I bought one myself from their sister company, Signature Solar, and went through the proper steps: installed, torqued fittings to spec, evacuated, nitrogen-purged, leak-tested, and recharged. The system still leaked.
I filed a warranty claim with full documentation. EG4 denied coverage, blaming “installation damage,” yet still offered a “goodwill” replacement line set. Contradictory and meaningless. If they truly believed it was my installation, why send parts? They never asked where the leak was or offered any service support to resolve it.
I reviewed their 108 Google reviews:
- 5 mention no warranty closure/support.
- 13 cite poor or no technical support, many unresolved.
Even the owner has admitted publicly that EG4 may not provide a replacement even when the issue falls under warranty. That makes their warranty worthless.
Their replies always include nice public apologies, but after a year of reviews, the same lack of support continues. Lip service only. Same old song and dance.
Bottom line: I cannot recommend EG4. If marketed for DIY installation, the fittings should be bulletproof — they are not. EG4 also struggles to support products they didn’t design in-house, and it shows. At best you’ll get apologies, at worst you’ll be left with an expensive, non-functional unit. Buyer beware.
