Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 118 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers express significant dissatisfaction with the product's quality, particularly regarding the batteries, which often fail prematurely and are very expensive to replace. Reviewers frequently report issues with the warranty process, stating that the company does not honor its advertised warranty periods for batteries and tools. The customer service is consistently described as unhelpful, rude, and difficult to communicate with, leading to frustration when trying to resolve product or warranty problems. Some people also felt that the pricing of replacement batteries is exorbitant, often costing more than new equipment, which makes the products an unsustainable investment. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that the tools themselves work well and offer good performance, with some reviewers having positive experiences with battery longevity.

EGO tools are not well built

I purchased the EGO trimmer from Amazon. I tried using it this year and it no longer works. I got four months out of it before failure. These are basically throw away tools. Ego products MUST be purchased from a valid vendor otherwise the warranty is invalid. Amazon and MANY other online retailers are not authorized EGO retailers. The IGO blower I have only works in one speed after one year. I've only use the chain saw one but I do not expect it to last very long. I've spend over $700 on Ego tools and I don't think there is another brand of tools that I have has to deal with so many failures before. I read so many reviews that liked Ego tools, but I will not buy another again. Stay with the good major brands like Milwaukee, Dewalt, Ryobi, etc and only through authorized dealers.

The 54 volt weed eater is a joke

The 54 volt weed eater is a joke. No power. All it does is get caught and scorch the grass. Sold my gas weed eater but headed to Lowe’s to buy another one. This product is junk. Tried to sell it in a garage sale for $5.00 and no one wanted it. It was terrible from the beginning.

Read Ego Garden Equipment reviews before you buy!

I bought Ego weed wacker yesterday. Following the instructions tried to remove spool from unit. "Push release on either side and gently pull out lower spool assembly".
NOT. Gently? Can't remove! Called Ego. 'We will call you back. Won't lose my place in line." 14 hours later at 5AM I get a call and voice mail. Guy spoke so fast and very poor english! And he will help me? Then I looked up Ego. Very, very bad reviews on customer service and their batteries are worse!
Took back, refund today.

These are terrible products

These are terrible products. Batteries go out constantly. Weed eater and mower just constantly stop working. Weed eater won’t wind the string. Lawnmower won’t work and no one knows how to fix it. Stay away from these overpriced garbage products.

BOOOOOOO 👎👎👎👎 Tools are pretty good

BOOOOOOO 👎👎👎👎 Tools are pretty good. Batteries and chargers are PURE CRAP. NO ONE around to test, rebuild or remanufactured Batteries. 4 years in with: EGO 56V 2.5 AH and 5.0 AH Batteries, 2 CH2100 chargers, pole controller w/trimmer, edger, & pole saw. Leaf blower. Can barely do my tiny lawn after charging both Batteries all night. Both indicators will show full charge, less than a minute later one flashes red or yellow, the other, says green until I plug it in to a tool. might last 1 hour, might last 10 minutes. Crap shoot every time. At $250 a pop for new Batteries, "F" that! I can buy GOOD gas powered equipment that will do the same job faster, better and foe a fraction of the cost for the power.

I'm DONE with this "ECO friendly" garbage. Setting it all out by the curb next to my trash cans.

All these positive reviews are most likely FAKE. I am happy to provide video proof of everything I have said.

Tools are great! BATTERIES SUCK!

Welcome to the bad battery world

Search the web and you'll find the battery constantly gets in a bad state like won't charge etc. People trouble shoot on Reddit. What's worse, the customer service call is never through. I bought it last fall and this spring it won't work. And buying a new battery is 300 USD. A total rip off. I will never consider any ego related product ever again

Loved eGo

Loved eGo, have a 10 year old blower that's a dream, a weed whacker that's great, and I off-branded with a greenworks mower until I could get an eGo. Fast forward a few years after the mower, and I get an eGo mower expecting similar quality and what a piece of turd. While the engineered features are nice, and I haven't (yet) had any trouble with the self propelling the battery which is a big 56v behemoth and probably costs well into the 200 range is dead/won't charge broken on the start of the second season, so really more than a year old, but less than 3 useful seasons of usage old and it's requiring a primary component change. I don't know that these manufacturers understand that the "battery" is as critical as the "fuel processing" components of a gas mower that runs for 5-15 years without any need of changing. I used to love eGo, but after this mower and battery experience I'm going to stop buying their products in lieu of greenworks or another electric brand, or possibly a gas mower.

Extremely Disappointed with EGO and…

Extremely Disappointed with EGO and Their Customer Service

I purchased EGO’s most expensive leaf blower, the 765 CFM model, expecting premium quality and durability. Less than a year later, the blower has already failed. To make matters worse, I have received no callback, no customer support, and no real help — even after going through Ace Hardware where I purchased it.

For the price, I expected a reliable product and responsive service. Instead, I’m left with an expensive paperweight and endless frustration. If you're considering EGO products, think twice — because when things go wrong, you’ll be on your own.

I bought an EGO mower in 2021

I bought an EGO mower in 2021. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because the mower is very good. The reason I'm only giving it two stars is because EGO's customer service sucks. After four years my mower wouldn't work.I called customer service, they said it was a warranty issue. Sparing details, after three phone calls, many emails and several days later they finally sent me to a repair shop called "The Tool Doctor" in Renton, WA. Well, The Tool Doctor had no discernible store front, did not respond to repeated phone calls despite supposedly being open, and was generally sketchy as hell. Meanwhile, my grass gets taller. Four years of good mowing for 550.00 is not a good deal. Having essentially no service options in a major metropolitan area like Seattle is crazy. Their customer service rigmarole was annoying and I wound up wasting an hour of my time and fuel for no reason. I'm done with EGO products altogether. I've owned about twenty Milwaukee tools and ten batteries. When I had a problem with my grinder, I went five miles down the road to their service center, the clerk read my serial number and told me to come pick it up next week. That easy. Not so with EGO. I went on a multi-day expedition just to get something out of customer service and they finally lead me to a dead end. GET BETTER. I now have a 25 year old Honda mower that I can fix myself when it breaks. Nobody to send me on a useless excursion.

EGO was a bad decision.....

Converting to Ego cordless equipment was the worst decision I've made in 2 years.
1. Chainsaw is the worst I've ever used. So much slack in the tensioner, chain is always loose. Last chain I used last 40mins.
2. Whipper Snipper is gutless, even when using the larger batteries. I'm always going back to my petrol snipper.
3. Mower I've had for 1.5 years and already on blade number 3. Design is annoyed seeing your arms tangled up in the mower frame when trying to remove the catcher.
4. Blower is good, but huge, my milwaukee is a good contender and it's tiny.
I really don't know how they can claim to be #1 in cordless equipment. I think Milwaukee gear would eat this garbage.
What provoked this review was because I was halfway through a 40mm beach when my brand new chain got tangled in the saw and was destroyed. I had to then finish cutting the tree with my Milwaukee reciprocating saw to finish the job and it never let's me down.

I think you are trying to hard

I think you are trying to hard to make the best product for lawn care. No problem with that. The problem I have is I was all in, blowers, lawn mowers and trimmers. Batteries a big problem and expensive. Products are expensive as well. The self load trimmer I bought lasted less than three years. In other words, the problems with your products do not justify the cost of the product.

If there was less than 1 star I would…

If there was less than 1 star I would give it A zero, the only good part about it is the blower. The battery sucks and does not last long. The weedwacker is the worst weed wacker I’ve ever used. Getting the head of the weed wacker off to reload it with string takes about 20 minutes and the power load works maybe half the time. It’s advertised like you can put on other accessories and stuff like that but you can’t, you have to buy a whole other weedwacker and buy accessories for that. Worst buy ever, get a stihl.

Terrible warranty service buy flymo

Wow spent a fortune on ego mower, strimmer and batteries.
2 Chargers have failed one in first month!
Now my mower has packed up at just over a year old and the backnup is non existent, no phone number and I've got to wait over a month at my dealer for the part. Wish I'd never bought it now and stuck with petrol

Zero stars DO NOT BUY AN EGO MOWER!!!

I would give it no stars if possible

I would give it no stars if possible. After only 3.5 years this $500.00 product is a piece of trash... pure garbage. Battery charged, lawnmower won't keep running or not start at all. Going back to a gas powered mower. Terrible! So their quality control must be non-existent and therefore I would not trust any of their products!!!

POOR Customer service

Called ego customer service today 4/10/2025. First, does not speak English very well, does not understand what I am asking. Great product but customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Your products are only as good as your customer service which is currently lacking.

Terrible customer service

These guys are okay when selling you items with fast delivery and easy to use website. However it's when you reach out for the much needed customer service they fail big time.
I am waiting for a refund it's been over two weeks, and no where on their website do they mention a £25 handling charge if you return an item.

The Worst

While under warranty, the motor of the snowblower failed. Took my husband days to get a response from the company when calling--on hold for ridiculous amount of time. We were given all sorts of tasks to verify it was indeed broken. Complied with very specific photos and descriptions . After 6 wks they told us to take it to Agway to get repaired. Repair is finished but EGO won't answer Agway to approve the repair payment so it is being held there. This has been a 3 month process. In central NY--January through April 3rd. Absurd.

DMV has better customer service

After a decent product for 3.5 years. It's now a pile of trash after the battery refused to coordinate with the lawn mower.

I've been ignored for 4 days and straight up refused help from customer service to troubleshoot this issue. There are no resources online and the advice I'm receiving from Reddit is to literally drop the battery to 'fix' it.

I borrowed my neighbors mower and will likely buy that (or literally ANY other brand) instead of spending an additional $300 on poor quality EGO products.

Ego trimmer Worthless after 2 years

I have owned an ego trimmer for 2 years and hate it. The unit feeds line beautifully but than the minute you use it one side of the trimmer line breaks and once the other side is worn down from use you have to refeed the line into unit. It takes hours to trim a very small yard because this POS does not work.
BUYER BEWARE Ego sells crap product. They don't warranty the trimmer head so I have to pay to repair a unit that is 2 years old. DO NOT BUY EGO you will regret it like me.
