2 years experience of EKOHeat4000

2 years experience of EKOHeat4000 in the UK - its OK so far

We had an EKOHeat4000 installed 2 years ago when oil was 60p a litre

We had problems with reliability, but once we realised the problem and fixed it ourselves, it has become pretty reliable... not as good as an oil boiler, but acceptable.

Service costs are high (£420) and getting higher - and you can only use one company - so there is no competition.

At present with oil at 37p a litre, I reckon we saving about £300 per annum against a spend of about £2000 on heating (if you ignore the price of the boiler and the install costs.) However, this is a saving based on a 30 year old oil boiler - so I suspect that compared to a modern oil boiler it will be about break even... But hey oil prices are only going to go 1 way so hopefully we will be saving more soon!
