If you enjoy cooking or have any hope in baking foods avoid this cooker/oven like the plague. To carry out anything on the stovetop other than to sauté you require an alternative heat source, which we regularly have to reach for when trying to brown meat etc. As for the oven, if you hate cooking/baking/the taste of food, the Hotpoint steam-o-matic is for you. You will have a face full of steam anytime you open the oven door, max temp is 220 degrees minus another 10 degrees for the frequency of the heating element switching off building steam and ruining anything that requires a crisp. Cakes etc., you need to add another 10 minutes to the time required to bake so the blagged energy efficiency is irrelevant. It is about as useless as its washing machine and dishwasher. I detest their products and I’ve unfortunately cursed myself with them, don’t do the same.

Generally we've been pleased with our Hotpoint cooker but one thing that drives me mad is the thoughtless design. The oven door will spring back on you so if you've just taken something out the oven door will spring back on you and burn your arms meaning you could drop whatever you've just taken out!! The other thing is that it won't shut with a reassuring click and just swings open again. Bad design there

disappointment with Hotpoint electric cooker understatement,

This is an email sent to Hotpoint if you use the customer experience phone number you get a two finger response and it costs the phone call the email address is very well hidden but you can find it !!
Hi Team,
In the past i have always thought of Hotpoint as a very good company for electrical goods (i am 63 years old) this was the reason when we had to replace a 15year old electric cooker we decided to select from your company's range of products .Hotpoint HDM67V9CMW/U Double Cooker - White
Issues started within a year with sauce pan cooking area you will notice the fading(unable to load image) of the black to a silver / grey on the front left hand side which we thought weird at the time after we had the product for just over one year apparently it is cosmetic so therefore not a fault. And the threat of customer services saying if it was not a fault but fair wear and tear we would be charge a cost of nearly 1/3 of the cost of the cooker as it would not be under warranty (your service representative opinion of course is the only vote) this frightened us away _

you will notice from the included photograph(unable to load image) that the enamel has gone awol leaving visible rust again we were told it was cosmetic and i refer you to the above paragraph regards costs . i write this email today with the photograph taken today you will notice that the hob has now dropped in the top right corner and the rust has travelled or was present but hidden along the entire side .

you can see from the invoice the appliance is just over two years old. therefore i have no consumer rights as you only give one year and cosmetic i believe is not applicable .the cost for your super extended warranty is not worth the investment due to the cavate of terms hidden in the small print .

the users of this product is solely myself and my wife so i think we could hardly be called heavy users but after the sinking of the hob we have to source another cooker because of the fear of hidden damage / build quality.

That is the situation i fully understand that your product meets is specification of lasting the 12 months of warranty therefore you are quite safe and you should take this email as purely hugely disappointed in a recognized brand name which was a standard for electrical products in the U.K .What has gone wrong team ? or are you products designed and built to last just over the 12 months i don't know of course .

if i was able to i would leave a review including the two images so the other people can make an informed choice .

i have sent Hotpoint in its full this email ,and will be purchasing another cooker and it will not be a Hotpoint product as i can no longer trust the build quality of an essential household item even with such an established name .

Thank your time in reading i don't expect a reply of course but i feel better for unloading this .

If there is urge to reply i have one question ,how on earth does the rust get around the edge and no we don't leave it water or use abrasive cleaners it gets a squirt of disinfectant along with kitchen units and wiped dry

this is a retracted version of an email sent and i have not received even an acknowledgement from them . my advice do not go by Hotpoint brand name it clearly living on its past standards

I just hate that companies like this even exist

Bought a fridge freezer directly from Hotpoint - broke in 5 months. It was a Which Best Buy! How on earth Which can give any awards to this company is beyond me.

It has been 26 days since we reported it broken and they say they are still waiting for a part. We are family of 5 and its been a complete disaster trying to function without one.

Zero sympathy from anyone I have spoken with and they say legally they only have to fix it within 30 days and will 'probably' be able to do that. The parts we need cost more than the appliance so we asked if we could just get a replacement but thats 'against policy as they have to try to repair it first within a reasonable time period.' 30 days is a reasonable time period?

I have a property management company that is constantly buying white goods and can say with 100% certainty that after this experience I will be going nowhere near this company again.

I cannot imagine owning or running a business that has such little regard for their products and for their customers who spend their hard earned cash on them.

I’ll never buy Hotpoint again!! No customer service for a faulty machine

Bought a tumble dryer from Hotpoint and u can honestly say I’ll never touch Hotpoint again. Belt has broken three times and I have complained only to be told I need a 4th breakdown before it can be discussed with the engineer???!! If the machine is faulty how come I can’t complain until 4th repair, if it’s faulty it’s faulty! Good job I took insurance out or it would have cost me a fortune plus having to have time for engineer visit, never ever buy Hotpoint or whirlpool again disgusting customer service.

Didn’t want to give even one star.
Hotpoint used to be good quality now it’s a pile of junk. Grill rack miles out of alignment, black paint coming off cooker, grill not igniting and i’ve only had it 8 months. Can’t get through on phone and no answer online. Products are now made in China but they lied and told me eastern europe.Avoid these cowboys.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. Reneged on a 5 year full warranty. Expensive washing machine failed after 2 years, trying to invoke guarantee was impossible. Hotpoint outsource to domestic and general and they both pkay each other off. Escalating to senior management impossible, constantly ask for same information, never follow up, almost every bad customer service practice followed. AVOID THIS BRAND.

Rubbish oven hae60ks

Bought a hotpoint hae60ks 18 months ago and I have barely used it. I've only used the top oven and grill and the bottom of the oven has started to rust already. I'm not impressed at all with this. I've also noticed that it takes forever to preheat. For an oven that's not used often and has been cared for properly. Well this just isn't good enough! I can't put the correct date in as it's been over a year..

Purchased end August and delivered sept 4th 2022.. Worst oven ever!!!

Abysmal experience

This company are adept at avoiding dealing with any issues arising from their products.
Cooker purchased and within six weeks glass lid malfunctioned. No engineers available until 29th December 2023. Tried everything to get them to come before Christmas Day but to no avail. Used camping stove for Christmas Day. They arranged to come on 29th December. Didn't turn up, no communication. Phoned them and met with a brick wall. No managers available, wrong telephone numbers etc. Finally got a call back from complaints department. New date, two more weeks without cooker hob. Engineer came, told me wrong part ordered. He in fact found one on his van! Apparently the lid is known to be faulty. Clearly not fit for purpose, should be recalled. More calls and emails met with a brick wall. Offered a cleaning kit which I declined and then a £10 voucher. Also declined. Can't write all the issues but advice would be to steer Clear of this company and their products.

BEWARE OF HOTPOINT AND D&G INSURANCE

when my fridge of just 3 years failed I contacted Hotpoint, I was advised to take up Domestic and General Insurance and book an engineer, from JULY - mid SEPT. 5 engineers attended to no avail and fridge was still not repaired. Last engineer attended and did nothing said it was unrepairable. D&G cancelled my contract, but as the fridge has had hardly any wear in three years has never been moved I fail to see why it packed up. After I paid for an independent engineer to come and give me his report he said he was sure it was leaking internally which non of the others had picked up on, I sent Hotpoint many emails to stress the situation and complain that in no way should this fridge go down after 3 years. They have not yet graced me with a reply and for such a large company I find this appaulling

Rubbish product rubbish service

18 months ago I bought a tumble drier for a tenanted property. The unit stopped working 2 months ago and we called out an engineer. Having waited weeks for the repair to be carried out he replaced the belt and left. A few days later it sounds like a bag of spanner’s. Never again will I buy a Hotpoint product, buy German it lasts a lot longer and their customer service is a million times better.

Don’t buy hotpoint washing machine.

i had it 6 month major fault on the electrics. Then 3 month later stopped spinning. The seal on the door came away then burning smell and smoke coming from the drum. The seal on the door has gone again flooding my kitchen. The machine is less than 18 month old.

Really terrible customer service

Really terrible customer service. They need to improve this. Impossible to ring them when something has gone wrong with the appliance. Just a message to say they don’t take calls. There is then a pretty unhelpful virtual assistant and then a conversation by WhatsApp that no one replies to. I have now wasted several hours over 2 days to be told 2 completely different things by 2 very poorly trained (one with an attitude problem) customer service staff. When I asked which version I should rely on being correct I was told ‘how would I know’! Still no answer about what to do next (but they did try to sell me an £18 a month policy for no apparent benefit. Clearly their sole purpose. I agree with the many other reviews on here - do not buy Hotpoint whatever you do!

Hotpoint Engineer Gary who came to mend…

Hotpoint Engineer Gary who came to mend on
Washing Machine on Wednesday of last week 12th October did a marvellous job, and repaired all, but
since another repair by another Engineer earlier this
year when a new drum was put in, it would seem that
the inside piece that goes with the detergent drawer
and fixes right to the back of the machine was broken and we could not have possibly done that
to the machine as that is the inner part of the detergent drawer not the piece you take out to wash
he had to mend this and sort out all the wiring as it
was in a bit of a state. Thanks to Gary we were able to catch up with our washing. Because of that piece
being broken that is why we have had a leak for months from probably when the new drum was fitted
previously by the other engineer
