Had an at-fault total loss accident in…
Had an at-fault total loss accident in my campervan. ERS were great throughout the claims process, the total loss team were compassionate and carefully talked me through what all the options meant for me (retaining the vehicle or scrapping it). When I chose to scrap it the payout was very quick and no quibble on valuation. They even held off from scrapping til I could visit the vehicle to remove some personal items.
Can only speak to my experience but the total loss team at ERS were really great, especially Simon who I spoke to a few times on the phone.
Disgraceful Company. This must be one of the worst and…
This must be one of the worst and untrustworthy insurance underwriters in existence and should be banned from trading. The trouble is most people don't know they are insured with ERS until it is too late because most of their business is done through agents.
I renewed my classic motorcycle policy which was changed to ERS by my broker Peter James probably because it was cheaper than my previous insurer. After my policy had been running for a month Peter James informed me that ERS were querying a previous accident I had had in my car which wasn't disclosed. I replied 'yes that is correct but I didn't think that was relevant because your wording only referred to motorcycles and riders where as if it was relevant it would have been worded vehicles and rider/drivers.
I apologised and said I was happy to pay any increase in premium if required.
ERS informed me two weeks later that my insurance is void when it started a month ago and my name would be on the national data base as a 'fraudster'.
I recently returned from an enjoyable trip to France and it appears that I have riding uninsured because ERS void my insurance, I hate to think what would have happened if an incident had occurred.
Looking at the other reviews it seems that this is a prime company to be featured on 'Watchdog' and I find it hard to believe that knowing their reputation that any reputable brokers would use them...Well I can because they are cheap.
On delving further it appears that ERS have been on the FCA 'radar' for some time and one of their claims departments has been deregulated. Nuff said !.
Do not use this company.
Do not use this company.
My wife was not at fault for an accident, ERS had an offer from the 3rd party which was much higher than they were offering my wife. She had to accept the payment but now they wont let her cancel her insurance and says she has to keep paying the £75 per month premium as they say they have not received payment from the 3rd party yet. What utter BS.... these are the sort of shysters you'll be dealing with if you choose ERS... makes my blood boil that they can get away with this
Competitive prices, terrible claims service.
I was rather hoping that I wouldn't have to be "one of those people" that writes a review on a company, but at this point the experience hasn't been fantastic. I unfortunately had a claim in November of 2018 with my classic car and to this date, over half a year later, I've no resolution from ERS. I've had no contact from the company despite numerous emails and all information provided, I don't even have an agreed valuation yet, or whether my car would be repaired due to its rarity.
The reality is, over half a year and no communication in regards to a claim is laughable at best. ERS's prices are good, particularly if you're a younger classic car enthusiasts, but hope to god that you don't have anything unfortunate happen as it's a long and disappointing process to get the service that you paid for.
However, the reason this is not a one-star review is because initially when I had just had the incident, the phone staff were very helpful (as long as you talk to the office staff and not the out of office claims team which got multiple of my details wrong).
Hopefully my saga will come to an end within the next year or so, but I'm not quite sure I can recommend ERS on the topic of when you unfortunately have a claim.
Please listen under no circumstances…
Please listen under no circumstances use this company for your insurance as they pay out on claims without consent of policy holder.
They employ staff that have no people skills and treat you like a criminal and when you make a complaint they offer £100 compensation when your insurance had doubled in price please don’t use equity red star
Worst insurance company ever
Worst insurance company ever! Motor home was stolen and recovered in September 2018. I finally got it back from ERS in April 2019 with a shed load of faults. Most distressing time of our lives.
WORST INSURANCE COMPANY OUT THERE
I had insurance with ERS. By far, the WORST insurance company I have ever dealt with. They cancelled my insurance because I had not updated them with my new occupation despite the fact that I genuinely didn't know I had to, and nor did they issue me a refund for the remaining months I had paid for. Having checked on Google, statistically, 60% of drivers do not update their insurers because they are unaware they have to. Customer service was also really appalling but that looks evident from the many reviews below which seems to be negative in the majority. REFRAIN from using this provider - you have been warned.

I have all of our family cars insured…
I have all of our family cars insured with Equity Red Star. Unfortunately one of our most expensive cars was nudged, while parked in the secure car park of an upmarket hotel with what looked like very minor, tiny dents in rear offside wing. With this being a highly expensive car, the initial repair quote by the marque's authorised repairer came in at over £30,000 which I thought was appallingly expensive. I was later delighted to see that the engineering assessor for the insurer negotiated the cost down by circa 50%...still expensive but Equity RedStar have been excellent and dealt with and authorised everything and I doubt any other insurers would have been in any way better. I am very happy with both my broker who is Classic Line Insurance, from whom I receive a great service and Equity RedStar. I am saddened that I had to make a claim, as their premiums are fair but the damage happened when my car was safely parked in a secure hotel garage specially chosen as suitable to park this expensive vehicle and was not of my doing. I cannot fault Equity Red Star.
I insured my classic car with ERS… Great company IMHO.
I insured my classic car with ERS through ClassicLine for the past six years. Unfortunately my car was a total loss after an accident just before Xmas. After reading reviews on here I was worried, a lot and thought I'd have a battle on my hands.
However, ERS called me on the fourth week to tell me they would cover the cost of my car. This was a seriously expensive car and ERS stepped up and did the right thing.
We usually only get to see the bad/negative reviews posted unfortunately.
Really bad experience during the…
Really bad experience during the contract when trying to ask for details and also after the contract expired. I don't get why the poor customer service, they seem to only want 1 year of custom basically on the following year do not want you as you expect to pay less for your policy. Anyway, I didn't have any incidents just needed NCB letter , it took ages of me having to ring them on and on, no references given and thwy don't know about an other in there. I am sorry I was theur customer and definately never want to be again, totally negative feedback to people that I know for Equityredstar.
Would leave zero stars if I could
Would leave zero stars if I could. Treat me disgracefully so I went to the ombudsman and they didn’t even respond to the ombudsman in the timescale they had been used. DO NOT use this company
You need to avoid ERS (Equity Red Star)…
You all need to avoid & boycott ERS (Equity Red Star) insurance because they overcharge taxi drivers. First-year insurance is £3200 inc interest, 2nd-year insurance £5800 (2 x X) because the driver had 1 fault accident, 2 none fault accident. Not only that ERS insurance is based on manipulation and lies. If you have an insurance with them, you must cancel and find another one insurance company immediately. Those taxi drivers are not concerned about this review, they will write similar comments before the year is over. I am now happy I cancelled it. Good Luck drivers.
Just shockingly bad service throughout
Just shockingly bad service throughout! Slow to reply. Try to get out of paying out at every stage. You might as well be driving uninsured if driving under equity redstar.

They told me my vehicle was probably a write-off for 3 weeks, then once they looked at it the damage was minimal. Important emails I sent them "didn't get through" and all in all I wouldn't even give them 1 star.
I wouldn't even give them 1 star and am about to complain to the Financial Ombudsman.
This company is a fraud! Please shop elsewhere!
If I could give this company less than one star believe me I would. Today's date is the 24th of October. I took out a policy with equity redstar through a broker trading under the name 'Got you covered' for car insurance. The policy commenced on the 16th of October and I was told by Got you covered that all the relevant checks had been completed and there would be no nasty surprises further down the line. Sounds great! The insurance policy cost me £1686.86 on my focus st. I had declared everything to my knowledge, including my three year old ban for speeding. On the 17th of October Got you covered called me asking if I had ever had an insurance policy voided, to which I replied no. On the 22nd of October Got you covered contacted me saying that Equity redstar were voiding my insurance with effect from 11:59 the same night. When I questioned why this was the case I was told that ERS had found details of a previous voided claim and policy. No details of the policy or claim could be shared with myself under the data protection act, even though this information is about me and nobody else. I was then told I would have to wait until the following day to ask any questions as ERS emailed Got you covered 10 minutes before they closed. What a suprise! I then managed to find a contact number for ERS. I asked why they were voiding the policy and they stated due to the information they had regarding a previous void policy and claim. Surely they should have carried out this check before taking my money. I then asked who the voided policy was with to which they replied 'we cannot share that information with you'. So now I have to request that information from another company. I was also told that they wouldn't be refunding a penny of the £1686.85 pence premium as the policy is void and therefore, treated as though it never existed. If this is the case, I have paid them for a service that never existed, seems legit. Despite myself having a years no claims bonus from my previous policy this company is adamant that I have a previous void claim and policy, but aren't willing to share that information. Surely if I had a void claim and policy my previous insurer would have picked this up!!! At this point I have now contacted the financial ombudsman, and the FCA. I have been told that I need to raise a complaint with the company. I have done so however I am yet to receive a reply. As it stands I cannot drive my vehicle and have no idea if I will ever be able to get insured or see any of my premium in the future. You'd be a fool to consider using this company!

Similar to other reviewers terrible company!!
Refused to pay damage claim of accident when their insured forced my company vehicle off the road then put me on insurance black list for making a fraudulent claim resulting in another company canceling my insurance!!!!
Outrageous and no one at ERS will discuss this malicious act not even Chief Executive who was specifically approached. So now taking them to court for action contrary to Financial Ombudsman Service guide lines.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

They have cancelled my insurance after 1 month without a refund. Shocking and rude.
The reason given was due to my previous car being stolen, which i had forgot to mention to them.
The question was if i had any accidents or claims, to which i replied, no. As i understood the claims to be related to any accidents, which ive had none.
They then called me an cancelled the insurance and took my money for the year anyway.
Would not recommend.
