Shipped used item instead of new/unopened
(Update: after many emails and voice mails and phone conversations, etrailer finally came through with a decent remedy -- star rating updated from 1 to 3 stars)
I’m writing to express my frustration and disappointment with my recent order. The item I received was clearly open and used, despite being sold and advertised as new. I immediately provided photo evidence and Ring camera footage showing the condition of the item upon delivery, leaving no doubt that this was a shipping or quality control error on eTrailer’s part.
However, instead of promptly correcting the mistake, I was told that I must first ship the item back, wait for it to be received and processed, and only then would a refund be issued. This policy is unreasonable when the evidence already proves eTrailer’s error. The burden and delay are being placed entirely on the customer — the very person inconvenienced by eTrailer’s mistake.
To make matters worse, I was told the item is now out of stock and would have to be drop-shipped from the manufacturer, yet the only “resolution” offered was a $30 partial refund on an item that cost over $100. That’s an inadequate offer and a disappointing response from a company I expected better from.
This experience feels deceptive — as though eTrailer may be reselling used or returned items as new — and it undermines trust in your brand. I urge eTrailer to take responsibility by issuing a full refund immediately or offering an equivalent replacement without requiring additional effort or delay from the customer.
I hope you will reconsider this approach to customer service and make things right promptly.

JG Rod Rack receiver Hitch
I got a front hitch for my Tacoma truck for my rod rack and installed by Toyota Dealership they could not find the bolts for it. I called etrailer about the missing bolts and they told me where to find them . Etrailer even called me back to make sure everything was ok.I passed information on to the dealer and they had the truck finished in two hours.
Can’t wait to try the rod rack on the hitch.

Had conversation with them and gave details of what the need was. Was advised on which trailer cover would fit, so it was purchased 4/26/25. Due to events we used the trailer for, I did not take the cover out of the box for 4 months. It is time to get it covered for winter. It doesn't fit. Way too small. Emailed the company to see what options I have to return/exchange/or get a bigger one that fits my trailer. No response. Very disappointed.

2022-2024 Kia Forte non-GT owners
2022-2024 Kia Forte non-GT owners, be advised. The Curt Hitch #C55HR is not designed for the 2024 Kia Forte as per Curt Manufacturing. The Kia Forte non-GT model has the same rear bumper as the GT model, matching part numbers. After purchasing a Curt C55HR and attempting to install it on a 2024 Kia Forte LXS, I found that the instructions with the hitch are for a 2021 Kia Forte and did not work for the updated bumper on the 2024 Kia Forte.
After a lengthy period of back and forth emails with Curt Manufacturing engineering, this was their response;

At this time there have been no updates. The bumper on you car is just like to GT line, which is excluded from all fitment currently.
The instructions with the Curt Hitch #C55HR show pictures of a 2021 Kia Forte bumper, even the "KIA" logo on the rear deck lid is of the 2021 era.
Apparently someone at Curt engineering dropped the ball on this one!
I am happy and would recommend to my friends
Pros:
-The hitch installed quickly
-It seems very sturdy and heavy duty for its class
-It is perfect for my use for a bike rack qttachment
-Well protected, should resist rust
Cons:
-For 1 man installation you will need something to support each end or struggle.
-The shipper tore the box and the rack got scratched, but that is the shippers fault.
-More expensive than the comp, but you get a superior product.

I ordered a trailer hitch
I ordered a trailer hitch. Before it reached me, it was rerouted from the West Coast back to the East Coast. Therefore, it was over two weeks late. When I called to report the problem, I was given a date it would arrive and told that I would be contacted if it did not arrive by that date. The date came and went with no contact from etrailer. When I finally got my hitch, the box was destroyed. When I tried to lift the box, the bottom began to give way. The hitch was hanging out one side, the box was open, and all the smaller boxes/packages inside the big box were opened and smashed. I contacted etrailer. They asked me to tape it up/repackage it so they could retrieve it. (Seriously, they wanted ME to repair the box. WOW!!) They offered to send me a replacement; however, no guarantees were given that I would receive the product promptly. Also, no offer of a small discount or compensation was made for my trouble. I will not do business with them again.

We couldn't locate the fuse either, since U-Haul installed our hitch and 7 pin the trailer repair company couldn't readily see where the fuse was located and it required extensive re-wiring. $300 later we are all set. Thank for such a quick answer and follow-up.
