I had the worst terrible experience…

I had the worst terrible experience with this company. I have rented from europcar in other countries in the past and all I can say is that I am beyond disappointed with europcar Türkiye service like this is beyond horrible. When we took the car like the car really looked dirty but we soldiered on and kept it going then few hours after renting the car like the car just stopped working and it didn’t want to start at all we called the company several times without any help and after waiting for over 4-5 hours that’s when we got help not necessary help though like that’s when the towing company came and took the car. They promised to send a replacement car that same night but that didn’t happen we tried contacting them the following day of which we didn’t get any help aswell. We are still in turkey without the car we rented and payed for. I will be escalating this matter.

Europcar TR

I'm telling you very clearly, don't rent a car from here under any circumstances; the Google reviews aren't very good either. Let me explain why: I rented a car for approximately 350 Turkish Lira, which is about six Euros, and because I left the fuel insufficient, they deducted 23 Euros from my account for fuel costs.

This company acted in a dishonest and…

This company acted in a dishonest and misleading way.
I rented a car for one day, and despite returning it without any issues, they charged me approximately 3,000₺ extra based on six different false claims.

I was able to get the refund for their incorrect invoices only after 22 days. (Interest rates were 49% in May. If they did this to 1,000 customers, it would amount to 3,000,000₺ — and 3,150,000₺ with interest.)

In the revised invoice, although I had already paid 150₺ for HGS, they additionally charged me 8.40₺ VAT on top of the official 42₺ highway fee determined by the highway authority.

I already thought they couldn’t act more greedily, but apparently I underestimated the situation. On November 16th, they charged another 34₺ under “highway toll” even though there is no such toll amount anywhere in Izmir. I still haven’t received an explanation for the fee they charged nine days earlier.

On top of a 4,240₺ rental fee, they held nearly 3,100₺ for around 20 days — which clearly cannot be considered an operational mistake but rather a deliberate company policy to profit from customers’ money.

Initially, I assumed the first issue was a simple human error, but as they have not responded to the CRM and customer relations email I sent 24 hours ago, I am now sharing this review.

Below, I am also attaching screenshots of the emails. Even for such a simple issue, failing to respond for 24 hours is unacceptable.
Please avoid this company — do not pay the price for their misconduct.

Unsafe rental car and no response from Europcar Turkey

I have rented a Jeep Renegade in Turkey through Expedia at Europcar IST airport from Aug 1 -11, 2025 (license plate 34KPL142) for a total of EUR 930 (rental fee, deposit, and insurance). My wife, Nan Xu, has been handling the complaint on my behalf because I have been too busy to manage it myself.

The car had multiple serious issues, making it unsafe and unroadworthy:

Tire pressure warnings repeatedly appeared, especially on the front tire

Rear-view camera failed when reversing

Steering wheel shook and pulled while driving on highways

Vehicle had starting difficulties

Overall, the car was unsafe and not suitable for driving.

We submitted a formal complaint on August 8, 2025:

Europcar Case Reference: 24019686

Expedia Confirmation ID: 1189524983

Europcar initially gave us this case number and promised a resolution within 7–10 business days. However, 22 days have passed with no meaningful response. They even sent an email falsely claiming that someone had contacted me regarding the resolution — this never happened. Expedia also failed to follow up, telling us to wait for Europcar response.

This experience has been extremely frustrating, unsafe, and dishonest. The lack of timely action and false communication shows a serious disregard for customer safety and trust.

I requested compensation of EUR 500 for the inconvenience and unsafe rental, but no resolution has been offered to date.

I strongly advise against renting from Europcar in Turkey or booking through Expedia.

Arrived at Izmir Airport with a carreservation for 7 days.
The reservation was made under my name and the driver was my father.

They did not accept my credit card for deposit cause they claimed that the credit card needed to be under the same name as the driver.
We checked together the terms and conditions and what stated by the europcar employee was written nowhere. This is an injustice that obliged us to proceed with a new reservation (meaning paying 20% more and having a very bad quality car).

We absolutely not recommend this company. They screwed us over.

I rented a car from Europcar Turkey it was unsafe and in terrible condition.
I complained several times, but they ignored me. Then they started calling me late at night to exchange the car. What kind of service is that?
My holiday was ruined. Europcar? Never again.
And all their fake replies with hearts and flowers on social media don’t believe any of it.

Defalarca şikayet ettim ama beni görmezden geldiler.
Sonra gece geç saatlerde arayıp araç değişimi yapmak istediler. Bu nasıl hizmet?
Tatilim mahvoldu. Europcar mı? Bir daha asla.
Ve sosyal medyada paylaştıkları o sahte kalpli ve gülücüklü cevaplara inanmayın.

Europcar Turkey horror experience…

Hired a car from booking.com for collection at Bodrum Airport and drop off at Istanbul airport, booking.com charged us €250 which we thought was the total price. On arrival at the airport they charged us 4500 lira for a deposit which we would get back and €100 to add on an extra driver. We went on our way to collect the car from the office, had our bags in boot and driving off when someone banged on the boot with a phone for us to speak to the girl in reception. She to us we would have to pay a further 25000 lira (€530) as we were dropping the car off at a different location, that means for 3 days car hire it would cost us the guts of €1000, we ended up cancelling the car hire as it was far too expensive but we lost the €250 booking payment, its a joke of a company which i would never use again, I feel like they completely tried ro take advantage of us because we were tourists and they thought we were stuck.

I had a very positive experience with Europcar Turkey

I had a very positive experience with Europcar in Türkiye. The team correctly advises on urban and highway traffic rules. They delivered me a new car, they were quick with delivery and return. I owed a difference in fuel prices and they were very polite in charging these amounts, and the manager, Mr. Meltem Ozdemir, is always available to help.

Utter scam avoid!!

Utter scam avoid!!! I've used Europcar many times in Europe and specifically chose Europcar as I didn't want problems. Europcar in Turkey is NOT the same company and the service / scamming is diabolical. I arrived late at night at Dalaman airport. Europcar has no desk at the airport. Zero after asking many people I found an unmarked bus desk outside the airport - turns out Europcar is off site in a very sketch site that's not even paved a few km away. Despite paying in advance on the Europcar app - they refused to rent me the car, as ti didn't have a cc card just the debit I used to pay. It was nearly midnight in the middle of nowhere. The Europcar dodgy mate came out of nowhere and offered to rent me his car for the same price at the back of the car park. Europcar management need to wake up - this is seriously damaging brand reputation and they need to stop this scamming and put in a proper car rental service or pull out. It's not working.

Stay away from Europcar Turkey

Stay away from Europcar Turkey. I thought that it was same good quality as Europcar in the rest of the word! But I was mistaken. They provide old cars with many failures. Car broke down after 3 days! Not response from Europcar Turkey regarding my complain. They are just silent!

Fraudulent practices - double charge and added cost AFTER return

UPDATE: This is still ongoing in November 2024, with them being absolutely silent since August. I surely sent about 10 emails to Meltem Özdemir, the Customer Relations Manager, and via the feedback form. Not even one response since. Stay away, they don't know customer service and if you face an issue you will lose big time!

If I could give 0 stars I would. It started with them not having the pre-booked car available and giving me a van instead. As compensation for this, they added a driver without charge at the counter on the pick up day. Unfortunately, I had a light collision damage. I was prepared to pay for it but what happened instead is outrageous. They charged me twice, the same amount and on 2 different cards, a day right after the return date without any notice (I gave 1 card for the payment and 1 for deposit as they would only accept credit cards for that). I tried to contact them via phone and email - no response on either. Then, I contacted Europcar UK who followed up with them. After 4 phone calls with Europcar UK and 3 weeks later, I received 2 invoices. One for the damage which covered the cost of one payment. The other one stating a higher price for the car, plus the additional driver who was given to me as a compensation for a van instead of a car! I have only received a refund of half the second payment. I challenged this straight away and never received a response since. This is now another 3 weeks ago. I am still calling Europcar UK to raise the case every 5 days in this period. All they can do apparently, is sending reminder to the Turkish branch. How on earth is it possible that they charge more for a car after the return, when my booking and my pick up receipt clearly show a lower cost for the rental? This is fraud! The worst of all this is that they don't even have the decency of responding and sorting it out with me or the UK branch. They simply ignore every communications. I don't know how they get away with this, plus how Europcar UK or another branch can not interfere here! They owe me money that they wrongfully took off me without my consent. It is frustrating and damaging! I always used Europcar in many different countries, but I never experienced something like this with any other branch! I hope they see this review to find the decency to finally get back to me and refund me what I am owed!!

We rented car from Europrcar

We rented car from Europrcar, Antalya, Turkiye. We had clearly mentioned that we would be return the car at Izmir airport by 6 in the evening. We were given the quote and were happy about the it. We signed the contract which said 6 as the return time. We discussed with the agent the possibility of returning the car by 7 pm. The agent said even if we return later by one hour there would be no further charges. We returned the car before 6 pm. One week later we found Europcar charged us for one day extra. We were advised that we had to return the car at 6 am and not 6 pm. So we would suggest to please read the contract carefully as these guys would scam you for any anything. All the time while we were discussing with the agent he was giving us an impression that we were fine returning the car in the evening. Never once did he mention that he had changed the time to 6 in the morning in the contract.

Service Misrepresentation, Safety Concerns, Overcharging, and Lack of Support

My recent rental experience with Europcar was deeply unsatisfactory, leaving me feeling frustrated, unsafe, and utterly unsupported. Contrary to my booking expectations, the rental office was not conveniently located at the airport, leading to initial confusion and inconvenience right from the start. The vehicle provided was in a deplorable state, reeking of smoke and clearly not well-maintained, which was a disheartening first impression.

Compounding this, the communication barrier posed by the absence of English-speaking staff at the office and dealing with a phone representative who was dismissively rude further exacerbated my concerns, making me feel undervalued and disrespected as a customer. To make matters worse, I was inexplicably overcharged, and my attempts to seek clarification or resolve the matter have been met with a disheartening silence, leaving me in a state of limbo with no one to turn to for help.

The lack of clear instructions on how to return the vehicle adds to my ongoing stress, with no reassurance or guidance from Europcar. This experience has not only tarnished my view of Europcar but has also impacted my overall travel experience negatively. I strongly advise potential customers to consider alternative car rental services, as the lack of basic customer service, transparency, and support I've encountered is unacceptable.

I was charged for an extra day without…

I was charged for an extra day without my permission.
I reserved a car online but quickly noticed that the return time for the car was not in alignment with my flight time. This happened primarily because the website drop-down box was not scrolling well so I left it with the intention of just checking prices first. Unfortunately, I forgot to return to the beginning and booked the car. Then I called the company within 30minutes to ask if the time change could be effected without further pay, the person who picked it was abrupt and didnt take time to listen to what I asked for. Then I got to the first collection point and raised the same query, the person said the time change was fine and would not incurr additional fee. However, I received another invoice by email some days later charging me for a full day's fee.

„“Rent a car in Turkey „“

„“Rent a car in Turkey „“
I rented a car in Turkey at TRABZON airport for one month,in the period from August 25th. through September 24th.2023. I found myself a victim of cheating where what said that the car is fully insured and coincidentally I found one tyre air deflated the company rejected to replace the tyre and forced me tolerating a new tyre replacement the issue is not the tyre the issue is that they cheated me and charge my credit card for the tyre replacement without telling me that they did that until I received sms from my credit card issuers when I told them why do you make this they replied that the tyres are not covered by insurance not only that they didn’t release clearance form that the car is returned unless I insisted on that ,this my feedback to warn everyone not to rent from Europe car company in Turkish outlets .

I have travelled to Turkey in…

I have travelled to Turkey in September, and rent a car from Europcar for 10 days.
I was very careful to right down all issues and note any problems with the car before receiving it.
After 10 days, I have returned the car with a full tank as agreed, they have checked the car and signed the return and refund papers with no problems.
In 10 day I received my deposit back with only 10% deduction which was for toll fees and contract closed.

But, after about two month, a third party company called ARC consultancy (GCS-Group) which is in contract with Europcar started to text me on WhatsApp asking for 1134,34 TRY for insurance.
The fact that they where sending WhatsApp massages instead of formal emails was enough for me to know they are scammers. But they keep providing documents claiming they will take legal actions against me.
Since they had access to my personal details against my while made me to contact Europcar head office I France to raise a ticket. Unfortunately I haven’t heard back from them yet and scammers keep harassing by sending money request and threatening for legal action.

unauthorized money charged

Hi All,
I have never seen this kind of such a bad and lousy car rental company in my life. After I returned the car I rented from Istanbul Sahiba Gokcen airport, I received an email about the parking penalty and immediately paid it from my Turkish bank account. After a few weeks, I noticed that they were withholding the same amount again from my UK bank account without notifying me. When I saw that they were getting this payment from me for the second time, I contacted them to get this money back and asked why you got the money for the second time. No reasonable explanation was given to me, and they returned this payment with the loss of currency. However, after 3-4 weeks, I saw that my credit card was charged again. What kind of company is this? They use my card without my permission. I strongly do not recommend you to rent a car from this company.
