This company is a bunch of vultures

This company is a bunch of vultures. They're asking for $39,500 for a domain for a university project.

Companies like E Web Development are destroying the spirit of the internet and digital entrepreneurship.

Before, you could start a business at very low cost to validate ideas and business proposals, and if it worked, then scale.

However, now, with companies like this, that spirit is being partially destroyed. It's very difficult for someone who wants to start a project to pay $9k, $25k, or more than $39k for a domain that they don't even know if it will ever become a business.

At the beginning of a project, it's crucial to know how to spend money correctly in the most fruitful areas of the project, not on a simple domain.

I'm never going to pay them a single dollar.

Let them be happy being vultures.

Hi cgg

The domain you wanted is a short, memorable and brandable name that's suitable for many start up projects and ventures. Our premium domains have been purchased by startups to build into multi-billion dollar businesses.

We understand you're frustrated these premium domains are priced higher than your university project budget. One solution is to consider one of our monthly payment options, for example, you were offered a quote to start using the domain for less than $200 per month. We wish you success with your project whatever domain you choose.

We had a great experience with Ed and Keith

We had been searching everywhere for a strong domain that could truly represent our company—and we finally found it through EwebDevelopment.
They had exactly what we needed at a fair price that reflected the value of the domain. We communicated with them over the course of a few months, and Ed was consistently patient, responsive, and helpful throughout every interaction.
We ended up purchasing the domain with a 20% discount, which was a great bonus. They also offered a lease-to-own monthly plan, making it much more affordable and manageable over time.
The entire process was smooth and took less than an hour to complete. From purchase to setup, everything was seamless. Their customer service is excellent—always fast, friendly, and professional. We’ve never had a single issue with the domain or their platform.
Honestly, we couldn’t ask for more.
A quick word to future reviewers: be realistic with your expectations. You can’t shop for a Rolls-Royce on a Mercedes budget and then leave a bad review over a service you never fully engaged with.
If you're a business going through a rebrand or a startup looking for a solid domain, EwebDevelopment likely has what you’re after. Their client portal is intuitive and gives you full control over your domain. But if you ever need support, their team is quick to jump in and help.
Highly recommended.

Hi Niels,

With millions of people creating new businesses each year, the chance of a successful venture increases by choosing the right brand name - short, meaningful and memorable domains are the ideal fit for specific projects.

DNJournal publishes weekly domain sales reports which provide information on real world sales and domain values:
http://dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

For your reference, YourRide.com sold for $300K in May
https://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2023/20230531.htm

and SkyWin.com sold for $275K earlier this year
https://www.dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2023/20230201.htm

Going back a few years, you'll find TheFit.com sold for $30,900 USD in 2011
http://dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2011/20110608.htm

and CourseFinder.com sold for $50,000 USD in 2014
http://dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2014/20140416.htm

The domain you contacted us about is a popular name that many people are interested in using for their business and projects. We've had hundreds of people contact us about this domain over the past few years and we've declined several offers in the 5 figures. We understand everyone values domains differently and how you value this domain depends on your plans for the domain. For example, whether you're planning a personal project or working on a global venture.

We try to help our customers achieve their business goals with the right domain name and we offer several options for you to own a domain name with small monthly payments. We can also assist you in finding alternative domains within your budget. Please contact us again if we can assist further.

Fair pricing and good customer service

I believe many people are not aware of the true price of domains and will be surprised at the quoted prices given by eWeb Development. However, after a bit of independent research, I found that the quoted prices, even if they seemed high to me, are at or even below industry standards. Additionally, the support team was quick to respond and informative about how they came up with pricing.

Cybersquatting

Cybersquatting. Dangerous company. Avoid.

I have inquired about a domain several times over the last 10+ years and have been quoted absurd prices. 5k+ for a domain that is simply my name.

The company eWeb has horrible reviews on here and on google. All saying the same things.

I encourage other people to try alternative domains like .art, .net etc. Now days they are much more accepted than in years past where you could only use .com and be considered professional. Good luck!

Hi Brian,

After getting your contact information from Trustpilot, we looked at our records and you have never been one of our customers.

Even though your review on Jan 3, 2023 indicated your date of experience was Dec 31, 2022, we didn't find any records of any interactions with you at that time. On Feb 3, 2023, you contacted us to make an offer to buy one of our domains for $1 and you had a comment about domain squatting. We responeded to you the following day declining your offer and explained that the domain you're offering to buy was very common and useful to thousands of people and no one would be able to claim exclusive rights to such a name.

We also explained that this domain was registered for our web development and branding business in Canada and this domain wasn't registered to conflict with anyone's trademark rights. In response to your accusations of domain squatting, we also let you know that we had searched for trademarks in Canada and the US as well as other countries and did not find any trademarks for this name. We invited you to provide any information about your trademark rights, in case we missed something in our search, so we can have our lawyer review your info and respond to you further. We have not received any additional info from you nor have you provided any further response.

For your reference, we've quoted a number of people who contacted us about this domain and we offer several ownership options, including one that is $29 per month to start using the domain and having the option to buy the domain later. That also includes a free trial of our web services for several months, including a starter website, custom emails on the domain, cloud storage, web apps, hosting and technical support.

Our actual customers are happy with our services but unfortunately we get some misguided reviewers who are disappointed the domain they're interested in had been registered years earlier (this particular domain was registered in 2008) and instead of registering an alternative domain, feel the need to post reviews with false information about our business. From your email address, it appears you would be looking at this domain for your own small business. We hope your reviewers are more respectful to your business than you have been to ours.

If you are truly interested in our domain, we leave the door open for you to contact us to get an updated quote in the future if the domain is still available at that time.

I purchased my personal domain of the…

I purchased my personal domain of the eWeb Development Inc. last week. The purchase was initiated from myself through the given web-formula on my aspired domain. Ed from their sales team came back to me with a quote and we then settled on the price after a short negotiation. The contact was always very responsive, friendly and understanding. In the end it worked out great so I can recommend their offers.
I have chosen the “Wire transfer” payment on the eWeb Development Inc. website and paid for the domain from Europe, Germany by the use of Wise.com (formerly TransferWise), which enabled me to transfer Euros into UnitedStatesDollars (USD) with only 40 Euros of costs for the currency exchange. (Attached is a screenshot roughly showing how the payment fields need to be filled in on the Wise.com payment)
The money was received on the eWeb Development Inc. site just 1 day later. That’s why from a price agreement to the transferred domain being transferred to my chosen Domain Name Service Provider took under 5 workdays to do- which in my opinion is pretty fast.
Throughout the whole process I received fast feedback to any questions from the eWeb Team!
Described below is the process- hope this helps others interested in domains.
The domain was a bit pricey but I don’t think domains will get cheaper in the future. For a good brand it will be better to use the right name upfront than changing everything later on.

In short the process:
1. Initial offer from my side
2. Counter offer eWeb Development Inc.
3. Counter offer from myself
4. Agreement from eWeb
5. Agreement from myself to the transfer
6. Payment sent from myself
7. Payment received eWeb
8. Contacts of the domain filled in by myself
9. Full Access to the Domain through eWeb Portal
10. Change of Nameservers for my CDN/ Domain Name Service Provider
11. Copy of the EPP Code out of the eWeb Portal
12. Entered the EPP Code at my new CDN
13. Finished for now

Ridiculous domain price!

I requested a quote for a domain I would like to purchase. However the price for the domain is ridiculously high. They ask $9500 for a .com domain which has nothing to do with their company. In the mean time they claim that they also have other parties which are interested in the domain to trick you into buying this scam. Really bad that companies such as eWeb just mass buy domains to profit from them.

Hi Peter,

You contacted us to buy an eight letter .com surname domain. We gave you a reasonable quote and did not try to trick you or scam you. In our email to you, we wrote, "Please be aware that on occasion we may be negotiating with multiple parties so your quote is non-exclusive. Also, in your online quote, please check out our bonus e-Inclusive web package offer."

You were not the first person to contact us about this domain and we were letting you know that if someone else also contacts us, we may quote them as well. Domain availability is subject to change without notice. We've had many occasions where multiple parties contact us about the same domain and we've also had situations where one party bought a domain and the other party decided after the domain was no longer available. Even uncommon surnames can have thousands of people around the world who may want to own the same domain and coincidentally contact us at around the same time.

We're a Canadian company offering web development and branding services. Short surname domains are valuable to our business in helping customers brand their new business, product, or service. These domains tend to be memorable and brandable and useful for both personal and commercial uses. If our quote was beyond your budget, we can also help you find an alternative domain - there are over 1000 domain extensions and many domains are currently available for the same name in a different extension.

Terrible company that sits on domains…

Terrible company that sits on domains to sell at a much higher cost than they are worth. It's a practice that should not be legal because it's extortion to small businesses who are losing work from clients not being able to find them.

Hi Greg,

We have never tried to extort you or anyone else and any suggestion of that would be defamatory and libelous.

We're a company based in Canada offering web development and branding services. We've registered domains for our own development as well as customer use. You initiated contact with us and asked for a quote but we weren't able to come to an agreement based on your budget. You may be surprised to know that other people have contacted us about the same domain and we've declined offers in the past higher than your budget.

We offer lease-to-own options on our premium domains so you can start using the domain for as little as $49 a month and after a number of months, you would fully own the domain. We also offer domain rental options as low as $29 a month so you can start using a premium domain and have the option to buy the domain for a predetermined price in the future for full ownership. In addition, we offer a free trial of our web packages with a premium domain transaction which includes a developed website, email, cloud apps, hosting and technical support. For as low as $49 a month, we can work out a deal that includes a premium domain rental with a web package.

We offer affordable options for customers to have a premium domain and build their web presence quickly. Feel free to contact us again in the future if we can assist further.

Hi Phineas Lotus,

We understand your interest in a domain that matches your surname. Even a rare surname can have thousands of people around the world who may want to own the same domain.

We're a Canadian company offering web development and branding services. Short surname domains are valuable to our business in helping customers brand their new business, product, or service. We have many customers who choose a domain because it's short, memorable, and brandable, and it turns out to also be surname.

We wanted to assist you further but don't know which domain you're interested in (we don't own lotus.com). We requested more information from you through trustpilot.com but you didn't respond.

If you're still interested, please contact us again to discuss options for domain ownership, or for you to start using the domain with low monthly payments and future ownership. We also have affordable web packages that include a domain, developed website, email, cloud apps, hosting and technical support, starting at $49 per month. Hi Kartie,

Unfortunately, many people don't realize even simple domains can have a very high value. If you're interested to learn more about domain values, a weekly domain sales report is published at
http://dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Each weekly report is saved in the archives section. For example, a recent report can be found at:
http://dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2020/20200909.htm

In this report, you'll see the buyer of BoatsForSale.com paid $396,769, Fibr.com purchased for $75,000, Telematika.com sold for $49,888 and SassyClassy.com changed hands at $30,000. Even simple domains like SPCM.com sold for $49,950 and 4industry.com sold for $6,000.

We understand everyone values domains differently and it depends on your plans for the domain and whether it's for personal or commercial use. For example, we would never consider paying $400k for BoatsForSale.com for our business. However, if our business sold hundreds of boats a year, we would find BoatsForSale.com to be a worthwhile investment.

If you're still interested, please feel free to contact us again. If our quote is higher than your budget, we also offer several options for you to own a domain name with small monthly payments. Or we can try to help you find an alternative.

Company asks insane prices for domains…

Company asks insane prices for domains that have no SEO or name value at all. There might be some of those domains that sell for those insane prices but it's the business idea itself (registering names that you don't use yourself other than trying to make a huge profit) is unethical. Its just one of those companies you need to ignore.

Hi Matthijs,

There are many factors that affect a domain's value. Many of our domains are short and memorable which make them very valuable to our web development and branding business. We use these domains to help clients create new brands for their start ups, products and services.

Even simple domains without existing SEO value can have a very high value. If you're interested to learn more about domain values, a weekly domain sales report is published at:
http://dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Each weekly report is also saved in the archives section. For example, a recent report can be found at:
http://dnjournal.com/archive/domainsales/2020/20200701.htm

In this report, you'll see domains with little SEO value such as helpware.com sold for $35000, zirrus.com sold for $25000, myty.com sold for $24999 and connectz.com sold for $18000.

We understand everyone values domains differently and it depends on your plans for the domain. If you're still interested, please feel free to contact us again. If our quote is higher than your budget, we also offer several options for you to own a domain name with small monthly payments, or we can help you find an alternative.

Is this company still in business?

Is this company still in business? The 'request a quote' form on their web site doesn't send a code that's apparently required, no-one responds to messages sent via their contact form, If you call the phone number, no-one ever answers and the voicemail system won't allow you to leave message.
