Contact with expat.com is very easy and hospitable. I think they do a very good job for expats worldwide. It's very helpful and gives some expats even a feeling of trust knowing that there's always help or assistance abroad when needed in your own language.

I joined Expat.com hoping to get practical advice and support before moving abroad. The idea sounded great - forums, guides, and Q&A sections should help a lot. In reality, it’s much less useful than expected. Many communities are inactive - sometimes you post a question and get no reply for several days or even a week. I did get a few tips here and there, but overall engagement is low - locals and other expats barely respond. Navigation is also frustrating - the layout feels outdated, menus are confusing, and finding the right thread can take longer than expected. Some information seems outdated too, so you can’t fully trust it. I had to double-check everything I read on other platforms, which defeats the purpose. The idea is promising, but execution is poor - it’s okay as a minor reference, but not something to rely on for real guidance.

So many 5 stars! Hmmm. Anyway my gripe is that I joined and then after a few days wanted to cancel. I kept recieving mail from them to which I unsubscribed three times. They are still sending me rubbish and I cannot unsubscribe. Obviously either incompetent or downright uninterested. All there mail now goes into my scam folder which is where they belong.
Beware!, if you join you are joined to them forever!

I joined this website in 2021 when I was planning my relocation from the USA to Colombia, and I've been active off-and-on since then. I find it useful in multiple ways: before my relocation, it was quite useful to me as a Planner, and now that I've been living in Colombia for 2.5 years, I am an avid Contributor, frequently sharing my "on-the-ground" insights to with users (when they ask, haha).

Are there "spats" between users? Sure. However, most of the time, our users disagree without hurling insults. And the few times lines have been crossed, the moderators have stepped in and done their jobs! The moderators seem to strike a good balance between allowing "strong language", and removing/censoring hateful, politically incendiary, or ACTUAL personal attacks.

Do I wish the website required Real Names (that is, disallow anonymous users)? I do. Would it be nice to have some User Interface and Functionality enhancements? You betcha. But nothing is perfect. I am sure the website will only get better with time and a more active user base.

Expat.com continues to grow, and hopefully we can help more and more expats all over the world.

I had problems with the company entry and when I contacted Julien and his team, they helped me until the entry was done - they responded me at least five times -. I am very surprised because nowadays it is unusual to get a quick feedback from the webmaster, especially since my listing was even the free of cost option.

If you play with open cards from the outset, both sides always benefit.

On the one hand, the user who publishes unique text content on the provider's site (ideally multilingual), and on the other hand, the portal owner who attracts the attention of search engines with these texts and the respective keyword phrases.

When I found out I made a mistake on where to put my job search I contacted the Expat.com team and asked if it was possible to fix the problem. The next morning I woke up to a problem solved email and the problem fixed !

Very user-friendly website with lots of useful information and easy to post ads. However, I posted a a property ad in the classifieds inadvertently so sent a request to have it moved which was actioned very promptly with follow-up emails to ensure all was as it should be.

I've noticed that some recent changes have been made to the platform, making it more user-friendly. This constant concern to improve the site is worth emphasising. This is evident and recognised by everyone.

Expat.com is undoubtedly one of the best platforms for meeting expats around the world. In the particular case of Portugal, it's a site where you'll find mostly credible information, where members share experiences, some positive, others not so good. But all of them contribute to a more real and advantageous experience for all those looking to live in this country. Members now have access to information that allows them to do all the relocating themselves, without resorting to services that are usually too expensive and exploit the weaknesses of those looking for a new life in an unfamiliar place.

With this sharing, networks of contacts are created between members, which result in small communities spread throughout the territory, and not necessarily in the most touristy places. This is extremely positive for the country itself, but also for these communities who live a more authentic experience, closer to the locals.

As for things to improve, it seems to me that the topic search function still needs some attention with a view to future improvements.

I hope that everyone will continue with the excellent work that has been done: the Expat.com team, the network of experts and all the members who help with their shares to make this platform better every day.

It took a while (trying to figure out why I couldn't), but I finally have access to this site. Cheryl was very helpful and response time was excellent.

Useful and interesting social network. You can share and recive info and tips about a lot of countries from another expatriated people.

An excelente place to get in touch with people from your country when you travel abroad

I was able to promote my business via expat.com for free by being able to list it. The service they provided was quick and excellent. Great customer experience!

Phishing site. They require you to complete a profile and provide personal and financial data.
Once they get all you data, they ban your account and disble access to the site based on IP, Browser, Location Hardware IMEI and a few other parameters.
DISGUSTING!
