Untrustworthy company

When you try to book on their website, you get flashing messages that cheaper airfares are available via phone but cheaper fares are never offered. They put pressure on you to buy travel insurance and other unwanted things. In the past, they were somewhat reliable, but you can't be sure if you will have valid ticket and itinerary after you have paid. If you have an important travel, do not use Fareboom.

We would also like to clarify that purchasing travel insurance during the booking process is completely optional. To remain competitive, most airlines offer lower fares that come with restrictions, including being non-refundable and non-changeable. Travel insurance can be beneficial in such cases, as it may help protect passengers from financial loss if they are unable to change or cancel their reservation due to unforeseen circumstances. For this reason, we aim to inform our customers about the value of optional add-ons like travel insurance when booking restricted fares.

Total rip-off

I booked an international trip in premium economy class on Air Canada via Fareboom. Eleven days later Air Canada downgraded me from premium economy to ordinary economy class. I asked for refund of fare difference or cancellation of ticket. At first, Fareboom representative Yashpal Singh agreed to cancel the ticket and offer full refund in 2 days. But this did not happen for several weeks. I found out that Air Canada sent $300 refund to Fareboom to offer it to me for downgrading my cabin class to economy. But, Fareboom kept the money and continued to lie to me that they were still working with Air Canada. Every few days, Fareboom would issue a new itinerary, but I could not validate these on Air Canada website. At this point, I was worried and disputed the charge with my credit card company. In retaliation, Air Canada cancelled my ticket 5 days before start of the trip. I had numerous emails and phone communications with Saurabh Rajan, Saurabh Kumar, Yashpal Singh, and Sachin Mamgain. They falsely and deceptively advised me to contact my credit card company and withdraw my dispute and have a letter sent to them which they would forward to Air Canada and the trip would be reactivated. The trip remained cancelled despite me doing all their suggested actions. I lost the protection offered by my credit card after I withdrew my dispute. Finally, I bought a separate ticket at a very high price from a different travel agency on a different airline just a day before travel. Farebook repeatedly confirmed that they would get full refund of $1770 for my cancelled (ticket was cancelled by either the airline or the travel agency, not by the passenger) ticket from Air Canada. I continued contacting Fareboom for several months and they never got the refund for me. Fareboom (alias Best Travel Company) pretends to have an office in California and uses a phone number with California area code, but they operate from Delhi, India and all their employees are based in Delhi. They are highly unreliable and will rip you off for thousands of dollars.

In your reservation, the airline downgraded your seats and based on that you requested a full refund. Unfortunately, the airline declined the refund in accordance with their fare rules and policies, which we are obligated to follow. Despite this, after discussing the matter with you, we were able to successfully change the flights and secure a refund amount of seat difference from the airline after completing the travel.

However, a few days prior to departure, the ticket amount was disputed by you. As a result, the airline suspended the ticket, which prevented any further changes or processing. We made every effort to assist you, but the airline declined to reinstate the ticket or approve a refund without further investigation, as per their policy.

We would also like to clarify that while our head office is located in Los Angeles, our customer support team operates from India. Please be assured that our team is fully trained and committed to providing professional and efficient assistance, regardless of location.

Easy, peasy

The Farebook platform was easy enough to use. I was originally dismayed that my first choice was not available (which I learned after trying to process my credit card), but I was offered an even less expensive flight. We'll see how things go.

I had a last minute problem with…

I had a last minute problem with travelling ( my fault ) and they refunded me 100% because I apprently cancelled within a grace period. How refreshing it is not to suffer penalties. I will use them for all my travel because of this one quick positive action from them. Go fareboom!

Unable to purchase airfare tickets…

Unable to purchase airfare tickets through Fareboom as Fareboom does not recognize the new international airport in Phnom Penh Cambodia. I have sent a message to Fareboom in this regard, which was not replied to. Upon checking after 2 weeks, the new international airport in Phnom Penh was still not listed or recognized by Fareboom.
