I'm over 20yrs in email...

I'm over 20yrs in email, install/maintain own servers, use gmail, the full spectrum. 4 yrs ago i decided to give fm a try. Had a bunch of external domains with special needs and wanted to use them on fastmail. Believe me or not: I've seen in the last four yrs no usecase i can't do with them. Also migrated family members. And you know a a family CTO you have a 24/7 15 Minutes reaction SLA. No hassle, flawless, best UI: Clean & simple. QR Codes for mobile with unique passwords.

Had one support case regarding an external calendar, and they really try to get better with that cases.

So instead of puzzling postfix, amavisd, dovecot, sieve, SASL2... try this on your old days.

Fastmail is the email service that I…

Fastmail is the email service that I ever use whole my life:

- They respect your privacy
- Unlimited email aliases; they said 600+ I haven't hit that yet.
- A working spam filter. My outlook account is full of s****

This review is based on an experience I have with Fastmail. It's not free, yes but it worth it; I have been with them for 4+ years now and I am going anywhere until they change!

I migrated to Fastmail from Google Apps

I migrated to Fastmail from several GSuite accounts, and I couldn't be happier. The control, privacy and flexibility of Fastmail is awesome. I'm a full stack software engineer and startup founder so my email needs are many and varied - Fastmail handles them all.

Thanks Fastmail for your awesome work.

FastMail tries but fails

FastMail tried, but it doesn’t deliver. The email app is pretty good, but the contact manager is TERRIBLE. It lacks a field for middle names or initials, so the only way to capture that information is to combine middle names and first names in one field. But then the names don’t display properly. If I search for a contact on my phone, the thumbnail that displays lists a phone number without an identifier. It turns out that the displayed phone number is the contact’s FAX number. Who uses fax these days? Why would it be the default display choice? It’s impossible to search for and find a phone number without opening the entire contact. I am really tired of dialing a number, only to listen to the screech of a fax line. I am looking for a better alternative. These are not new issues, and Fastmail seems uninterested in improving them.

Customer since 2002

I've been a customer since 2002, almost 20 years and I've been very pleased. Works great out of the box, but infinitely customizable for tinkerers. Great spam protection, privacy controls. I'm not against against the providers like google on principle, it's just that fastmail works so well and has real people that you can actually reach. That's all worth a couple bucks a month to me. Plus these guys give back in the form of adding to public protocols, etc.

Fastmail has the features I need!

I have been using Fastmail for about a year now. I wanted a reliable service but was particularly interested in a calendar option that always shows the current week at the top of the screen and folders and subfolders to sort my emails. Fastmail delivers both! I have my own .com email address which is an added bonus. Very easy to use and configure to my own needs. I trialed almost every other email provider there is and am happy that I decided on Fastmail as my email and calendar solution!

Fastmail----well what can I say

Fastmail----well what can I say, been using it for years, yes there's a subscription but a very small price to pay for an impeccable company who has never failed to provide a great site and service together with good updates and improvement.
One particularly important feature for me is the ability to create numerous folders and be able to sort emails into them to enable quick retrieval when needing to access that subject.
All in all a superb email provider.

The best paid email service

Now we all know mail free email, why use paid fastmail, I think fastmail is a provider who takes internet privacy seriously, I will support it even if I pay, he has many features, I like it so simple, I think fastmail is the best paid email provider, he is better than hushmail, startmail, posteo. I think fastmail is the best paid mail provider, he is better than hushmail, startmail, posteo, and, the price is reasonable, not expensive at all. I think I will always support it.

Great for personal use, disposable emails and multiple domains

I'm a power user. I wanted to have disposable emails and multiple domains for a reasonable price. Fastmail is it. If you use the catchall, you can create an email for each service you sign up for i.e. [servicename]@[yourdomain].com. Fantastic. I have caught a few vendors selling or losing control of their data.

A lot of negative reviews here seems to either not understand password security or are trying to send spam.

I lowered the service by 1 star as their Android app is a bit clunky. I get that it is a web interface first service but there are bugs from time to time and it does not have offline functionality. A real pain when connectivity is spotty. If you want to use this for your business, you should either use a standard IMAP client (i.e. not their web interface or mobile app)

Sleeping customer service …

I have from the early years Fastmail but now I’m thinking to close my account because the customer service is sleeping.
They ask me a few times the same questions and that when I send the answers already.
I buddy now almost 3 weeks to delete my recovery email adres but they don’t wil be helpful. A shame. Wake up your customer service people and let them read the 13 emails we have send

We've been enjoying Fastmail

We moved our business mail to Fastmail for better privacy than G Suite. The features are rich and the UI pleasant. And the price is reasonable. The balance between available features and ease of use is very good for us. I think we'll stick with it, at least until one of the end-to-end encrypted providers catches up on UI and features (which may never happen).

Don't bother

You find an email provider that is reasonably priced where you can use your own @domain.com, who also emphasize "privacy" on their site and to boot are offering a 30 day trial. Why not give it a try right? After spending some time setting up the DNS and testing out the delivery with some test emails to myself, I was ready to use it for my business. Sent a few business-related items to partners and customers, went to bed, then woke up and checked my email. Now, imagine you are a business owner where email is crucial to your business. It's a revenue driver because without email, it's harder to know what orders or questions your potential customers may have sent. What if one day you could not log in? Well, I couldn't. Why? Because they (permanently) locked it. Of course they did, right? They felt like one of their TOS were violated. Their response was "here are a couple common reasons why others have been locked..." Looked it over none of it applied. It simply tech geeks that think they have more power than they have and abuse it on SMB owners. I know how to get into the mail DNS to change it back to my host server but regardless even if you do, just don't bother and especially if you don't know how, find another provider or stick with your host server. You can't hand over this much sensitive control of your business to these thoughtless individuals at Fastmail. I can't imagaine if someone used their service for longer and actually relied on FM and then getting locked out. I should mention it was all speculative suspicion as in no tangible proof, reason or clarification was brought forward. Just a simple switch at the flick of the wrist and that was that.

I have used Fastmail since 2012 when I…

I have used Fastmail since 2012 when I purchased a family package. I was informed about the first price rise since then back in December and am about to renew.

Comparable services look slightly better value at least on the headline stats eg. storage. But typically I do not require that space, if I run out my inbox is overdue a cull.

When I consider features I actually use custom - domains, light requirements for static web hosting and a fair amout of aliases to help separate personal contacts from marketeers - it measures up to other offers. I have seriously considered switching but the bottom line is the service has been rock solid.

When I read the negative reviews the writers seem to reveal a limit to their understanding. And even criticise Fastmail for measures that protect them and other Fastmail users. I feel very comfortable using a service that enforces T&Cs on sending of spam. Password security is down to you - Fastmail make it easy to secure your account. Specific passwords for logins other than through Fastmail website/app that are easy to rescind and TOTP 2FA.

My wife has been happy with it - no mean feat, the mobile apps are great (although if I deduct 0.5 stars it would be because they don't work offline). The one incident in all that time was user error when my wife accidentally deleted her inbox. Fastmail made it trivial to restore from the backup.
I will continue to use the service and would highly recommend it to anyone in doubt.
