The short version? Use this company, they want your job to be perfect, and work hard, flexibly and effectively in order to achieve that.
The detailed version......
Fenrir Construction Ltd won the tender to restore my home following water damage followed by substantial mould issues. As the latter had been caused by the insurance companys contractors, I was cynical. I'd been away from home for 13 months at that stage. I was reassured by the Quantity Surveyor, and Fenrir started work. This progressed my return home fantastically. I moved back home on the date agreed. The interim 12 weeks involved regular updates, and the Directors Andy and Dave were genuinely available 24/7 to me for any concerns. They also agreed to undertake substantial private work.
Helpfulness aside, what I benefited from ( as a DIY ignoramus) , was:
- Their prior experience in building homes, they made constructive, effective suggestions, changing the house layout positively, also recommending the items to buy, saving me literally thousands of pounds with the boiler for instance. They also planned my new kitchen effectively, much better than the official kitchen fitters. The finished kitchen inspires a smile every morning.
- Their flexibility . We hit several stock availability issues which became ludicrous, but they went out of their way to try to accommodate my choices or to find suitable alternatives. On one mad afternoon that involved spending hours sorting out ovens. They remained approachable, and , best of all they got the job done. That's as well as having several other jobs on.
- Their contacts. They have a comprehensive contact list of specialist contractors, who were all lovely, skilled, and reliable. They had a good work relationship with the Quantity survey which made life smoother, they were indeed my dream team
- Their work ethic. We are now a month into a 3 month snagging period and nothing substantial has arisen. It all seems to have been done correctly first time. Andy repeats " we want to get it right" whenever I ask for something else to be done ( minor touch up of paint, some adjustments to doors post carpet installation). That really is his, Dave, and their fantastic apprentice Bens professional mission statement.
Best of all, I've ended up with a lovely house, plus I know that the Fenrir chaps will be available if necessary. A huge thank you to them, Steve,Ash, Harry, Pete, and everyone else involved whom I've not mentioned..it's like the construction Oscars, and they're all winners in my book.
