I like the friendly atmosphere of Folksy - feel welcome as part of the Folksy family. No real issues but could Foksy or advertise the makers items more?

Beware Before Paying for Folksy Plus

I paid for a Folksy Plus account expecting the listing transfer service I was eligible for. They refused, claiming my products weren’t suitable—even though similar items are on their site. After I pointed this out, they suspended my account and denied a refund. This is unacceptable, especially since the service wasn’t delivered. Be cautious—check everything before paying.

Hi there, unfortunately your items did not meet our selling criteria, we're sorry about that. We sent you a full refund on 2nd May, 2 days after suspending your account. At no point did we deny you a refund.

Basically pointless

Easy to use but you really have to generate your own traffic to your shop. It’s not expensive to use at £7.50 a month but if you don’t get sales what’s the point. You have to literally spend all your time advertising your shop on Facebook selling sites to get traffic to your shop. A big time waster especially if you are a busy person. Not good for me I’m afraid- shame!

Hi Rebecca, We're sorry you're disappointed. We can see you've had a not insignificant amount of traffic to both the shop and your items of Impasto Expressionism which means customers are seeing and considering your work - a good base to build on. We have a range of resources to help you improve your listings so they are more likely to be seen and also increase the likelihood of people buying your art work. We're here to help so do reach out and don't give up :)

Good shop format

Selling and stock control, reports and accounts, all sorted easily!
Very easy to get products up.
Not ideal that I am having trouble selling to E.U, but thats hardly Folksy's fault.
All in, an ideal solution for what I need.

Folksy for Sellers

Folksy is a fantastic platform for those who want to sell their hand made creations. As the pricing is reasonable. Handmade good made in the UK which I think is brilliant!

Folksy, the place to buy and sell handmade

This review was for a purchase on Folksy, I am a buyer and seller on this platform.
Transaction was straightforward, great communication with the shop owner who went above and beyond.
Easy to navigate the site to find what I was looking for, some beautiful handcrafted pieces, so many talented artists and makers based in the UK. Payment went straight through with a choice of paypal or cards via Stripe. Good were despatched very quickly and beautifully packaged.

After submit passport, brp, national insurance number, utr number, bank account that have the same name & 800 listings of raw materials of craft supplies, Etsy permanently suspended me

I have decided to sell on Folksy after my 800 listings of raw materials and craft supplies have been permanently suspended by Etsy without notification, just really one-sided action done by robots. Oops, I have even submitted passport, brp, national insurance number, utr number and bank details that have the same name, unfortunately, not enough and still permanently suspended!!

Folksy is really helpful. There are real humans in there, not robots!! And they help me sort out some issues relating to bills that I have mistakenly chosen for my listings. They are very helpful and treat me like a human being. They work with heart ❤

I just need to get the traffic to Folksy from my TikTok account. Who doesn't want to buy a beautiful Shabbychic premium high top quality printed grossgrain ribbon when the price is just £2.50/yard with £0.85 delivery fee (not £3 delivery fee like most Etsy shops event hough you just buy 1 piece of tiny button)??

My previous buyers will be looking at my shop. Hope they will go to Folksy.

Item not received, no refund, no communication

Ordered an item, didn't receive it, didn't get my money back, no way of communicating with Folksy or them issuing me a refund so I had to get a refund from my credit card company which is completely unfair. Will never use them again to buy anything as the transaction isn't safe and communication is non existent from the seller and Folksy themselves.

Hello, I'm very sorry you had a poor experience. Very occasionally we get orders that go missing (as is the case with any retailer) but we look to resolve those issues quickly. To ensure that this doesn't happen again would you mind contacting support@folksy.co.uk and we'll try to get to the bottom of your experience? We'd really appreciate it.

Very impressed with customer service as a seller, comprehensive reply to a query within 24 hours. I can only give 4 * though because without an app they are not as easy to sell with as Etsy. If they developed an app they would have a much bigger uptake from small business.

Folksy - but not Etsy!

Yes, as a seller all good, sale a made and a very happy customer pleased with her purchase.
my only gripe is the operation of Folksy - no way is it a comparable alternative to Etsy, it hasn't got the exposure or coverage, it's seems it's up to the seller to do the item promoting on other sites. Having been on Folksy now for some 6 months and made only one sale as compared to 120 sales in the same period through Etsy, ok, the cost is dearer through Etsy but it means putting in a lot of work on the Folksy site to try and get a sale I will persevere with this site but I wouldn't call it ideal and these facts are not made clear when you sign up.

Poor service

Despite my items being 100% handmade, my listing was suspended for not being handmade. I told them this was all incorrect, and then after Folksy did "further research" they deemed it okay.

No, I think you'll find I proved it was 100% handmade, you clearly didn't do any research. Maybe if you're going to any research, do it before you kill a listing and send an email full of accusations?

Hello, thank you for taking time to provide a review. Your item was indeed reported to us as being not handmade (it's a generic email that is sent to sellers to say an item has been reported and we'll ensure that wording is clearer and more empathic). After reviewing it we determined that it was handmade by yourself and the item remained for sale. We take the policy of work being handmade seriously and, as I'm sure you'll understand, it takes some effort and time to do the research. The alternative is we risk buyers being sold items that are mass manufactured and we feel that would be a greater risk. We would like to invite you to try Folksy again and we'd love to work with you to help improve the process around reported items. If you're up for this please do get in touch with us via support@folksy.co.uk All the best.

I keep being told to add stripe which I have done. It’s not clear on my dashboard that this has been recognised. I am not really sure what it is other than an outside agent - it’s not clear

Hello. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Stripe is a service to enable buyers to buy goods from you (via Folksy) using a debit or credit card. This is in addition to PayPal which buyers can also use. The process to authenticate your Stripe account with Folksy can sometimes fail (for various reasons) but we can help determine why it has failed and fix it. The quickest and best way to ensure this is fixed is to contact support@folksy.co.uk and the support team will help you get this sorted. All the best.
