Fraser Dawbarns LLP is one of the leading law firms serving West Norfolk and East Cambridgeshire with over 130 staff and offices based in Wisbech, King’s Lynn, Downham Market, March and Ely. We pride ourselves in delivering a professional service and giving our clients total peace of mind. Fraser Dawbarns LLP can trace its roots back to the Old Market in Wisbech when James Edward Fraser opened for business in 1842. The Dawbarn family opened for business in 1885 and the names of the two firms changed regularly thereafter as partners joined and then retired. Both firms were involved in mergers and takeovers of other local practices involving expansion into new locations. The latest name change took place in 2008, when Dawbarns Pearson merged with Frasers of March and Wisbech to become Fraser Dawbarns LLP. This was soon followed by the further merger of Fraser Dawbarns with Waterman Cheetham of Wisbech. In 2018, Fraser Dawbarns brought our services to a new location for the first time in many years with the opening of a modern office in the city of Ely. Our lawyers are specialists in commercial law, Wills and probate, agricultural law, divorce and family law, contentious probate, residential conveyancing, legal disputes, employment law and personal injury and they advise a wide range of clients across the region and the UK. In the 2025 edition of the Legal 500 directory (The Clients’ Guide to the UK Legal Profession), we are recommended for the following practice areas: Agriculture and Estates Family Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate Commercial Litigation

Overall Communication poor .tried to…

After my mums passing we instructed Beverly chase to deal with her estate but after a few weeks we tried to contact Beverly chase by phone and tried going to see her at solicitors but we was told she was busy with other clients.strange but I thought that we was her clients. communication was very bad my sisters and i had questions for her but struggled to get aswers .the loss of our mother was hard enough with out this .£320 an hour. £5000 later.my later mums estate was settled.but how Beverly chase actually spent that much time on it as she was off sick for part off that time.my sisters and I are very disappointed in the way we have been treated and for my mum who put her trust in berverly to see her right on her passing.

Check your bill

Check your bill - they will charge for the air you breath, especially trainees time, and charges for emails to third parties you did not commission

Do not use for Probate

My Mother passed away in Jan 2023 and my sister and I went to Fraser Drawbarns in Ely for the settling of her will.
There solicitor Seema Solanki convened an introductory meeting with us where we passed over all of mothers information accounts, shareholdings etc.
Seema explained her duties and that the timescale would be 6-12 months costing between 5 & 10k. She stated that although her hourly rate was £300/hour but her assistant/secretary would be performing a lot of the tasks
We stated that if she was having issues with organisation that were local we would on request go in and if possible obtain the required information.
After 14months and will our bill far in excess of the quoted amount we terminated the contract. The interim and final invoice worked out at 42 hours for Seema at £300/hour and just 1 hour at £150 for another named person who I presume was her assistant.
Got the remaining shares sold and money in our accounts in 2 weeks with no problems from the share dealing companies. We then found some shares that the solicitor had missed.
We submitted a complaint using Fraser Drawbarns own complaints procedure but this was rejected so we are pursuing further.
I wonder if my mother had held the same number of accounts but with only 10% of the funds in each would our bill have been 50% larger than the quoted amount.
If you do not want your relatives hard earned money being appropriated from you by people that were meant to be representing you and working on your behalf then please go elsewhere.

Avoid.

What went wrong? Well what went right.. AVOID IF YOURE A FIRST TIME BUYER. Do your research and do not go with these muppets. To start with the process is not explain to you at all youre just expected to understand, after multiple times asking for a phone call never did happen. At the start of the whole process the solicitor only ever replied on a Tuesday which was not helpful.
With being no fault of ours (or the solicitor) the process was 8 months just to complete on the property however the communication with our solicitor was that poor i ended up speaking to the vendor directly as clearly a phone call doesn't happen these days and everything is done via email. ALWAYS chasing them and some of the information did not make any sense. To top it all off sent them the deposit for the property and the Fees in SEPTEMBER (we only completed last week) therefore the interest from September we should of received on this if it was kept in our accounts is more than what they are saying. Would never recommended to anyone. Pay more and go with a company who know what they are doing

Fantastic legal practice

Fantastic legal practice. Used Fraser Dawbarns LLP to sort out a very difficult mess left by our previous solicitors for our property purchase.
From the moment I met Iain Grimes i knew i was in good hands. He kept us up to date and dealt with the previous solicitor's mess in an excellent way.
If you are looking for a solicitor for the purchase or sale of your property look no further as you will not find better.
