Great prices until you are screwed.
Great prices, BUT wait til they 'disapear' one of your paid domains and want a fortune to restore what you already paid for. Happened to me TWICE before I wised up.
Months later- no response to tickets.
Their customer service is terrible
Their customer service is terrible. I had my domain there for over 4 years now - as usual I paid for +1, but for some reason the payment didn't go through. Literally 1 day after expiration my domain was blocked (no email or anything) and I only received an email AFTER the fact, that now it's too late and I lost it.
This is definitely their fault, because it looks like some internal error stopped me paying for the domain (it used the ''funds'' not the card- the money is there! /not a crad issue), but they would not give me heads up or a warning, just disabled the domain.
It took almost 2 weeks toget in touch with someone from customer service - and I was basically made to pay 50EUR for restoration.
Such a scammy company. Defo moving the domain somewhere else!
I've been wiht freenom for a number of…
I've been wiht freenom for a number of years, but I regrettably have to say their customer service is terrible.
I have had several onging issues where I have to ring the compnay and yet nothing happens. No one responds, tickets takes days if not over a week to get looked at. Sadly, i am moving all my domains from them to another service. Totally unacceptible customer service
"Change your DNS to this!"
I bought an domain on freenom. Then when i go to the domain, it says "Your internet connection is too slow! And has lot of trackers! Change it to this DNS!" I don't want my visitors to be tracked! I tried it, IT WAS HORRIBLE! Sometimes, it redirects me to uh, weird dating places?? Really, "Ad-Free DNS"
THSI IS JUST TRASH
THSI IS JUST TRASH, IM SERIOUS LIKE EVERYTIME I WANNA TAKE A DOMAIN THEY JUST SAY ITS NOT AVILABLE EVEN IF I SPAM SOME RANDOM LETTERS, TBH THATS JUST SAD.
ALSO THEY DONT REPLY TO YOUR SUPPORT TICKET, IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM THEY JUST IGNORE IT OR SAY YOU NEED TO WAIT.
Scammers.
Scammers.
As soon as your domain reaches 400-500 visits per day they will silently remove the domain (without even a notification) from your account and then mark it as a premium domain.
You then have to buy it in order to get it back.
This is a total scam, just buy a cheap xyz domain or similar.
Great service!
Great service!
It's easy to use, and most of the duration is free! :D
I love freenom
very good.
I have 9+ domains with them and they have had NO problems :)
Can't get a free domain
Can't get a free domain, domain unavailable and then i tried putting .tk at the and it worked but then i wanted to buy the domain for 0 Euros and i made a brand new protonmail account and put the email address in and it said "User or email already exists" and then i put in a secondary gmail account in and then it said "Unable to give domain" or something like that.
I had a domain for my forum (free)
I had a domain for my forum (free), I forgot to renew it and they obviously removed it from my account BUT when I went to get it again it was for 7.95 USD. "Because it was special".
Bad Services
They ban people with no reason, just for have the same nameservers on 95% of their domains, then they don't reply to your emails or ticket support.
i think free domain hosting is only…
i think free domain hosting is only good if you connect domain with quality hosting service https:// if you use some dodgy http:// connection hosting for your freenom registered domain then that is what you can expect...i got my site hacked at wix site so site is never fully safe unless you use many safety features on your site and have https:// connection.
Wouldn't use them again.
Do not use Freenom as your registrar if you can help it.
Their support is terrible, took 3 months before I could even talk to anyone. I emailed every freenom.com email I could find to one person actually replied and was able to help me move registrar to another registrar. I even rang their telephone number 7 times over the course of 3 weeks, no one had rang me back yet. Its been 2 weeks since I last rang them as well.
If you are looking to move your .tk away from Freenom, you need to email registrar @ (their freenom domain) asking them your trying to move you domain, and they'll eventually email you back with a strategy which basically means they'll cancel your domain early, so you can register the domain again with your new registrar. Then they shall update the expiry date back to what it was +1 year as they own the main tld database. This does reset the registration date of the domain, but that doesn't matter too much.
Using their EPP auth code doesn't work, no idea why it gives you the option, they even confirmed in an email that EPP code doesn't work for transfering the domain and this is the only way.
Hopefully someone else will find this review handy, as I couldn't find anything on how to move registrar online with Freenom.
Site redirected to adult website
They will essentially blackmail you into paying for a domain by redirecting your traffic to an adult site! I've had a free domain for a year with no issues and was reminded to renew by Freenom at 6 months. Suddenly with no warning from Freenom, I get a message from a friend saying my site was hacked as it was redirecting to a site displaying adult ads. The domain was no longer listed as mine on Freenom and was now listed as available at a price (no longer free) as it 'contained dictionary words' (it did not). Since I had given this URL to friends and prospective employers and it was now advertising adult websites, I was forced to pay for the URL to take it back. Will be finding another plan for the future, completely unethical and hope this company gets sued.
Disaster
This is the only site which provides free domains but it's worth it?
Their website is incredibly slow, loading any page or saving any changes takes even a few minutes and you are happy if it will ever load because you will get almost always an error message that the site does not work! It took me about half an hour to add one DNS record (usually done in a few seconds) and then when I happily closed Freenom, the record dissapeared! Any adjustments are so almost impossible! My second domain doesn't work at all! You really rather buy a normal domain from someone serious.
But I have to admit that my first site works pretty well, so 2 stars.
If you need a joke, Freenom is good one.
Use to be fantastic, now not so.
Use to be fantastic, but now they are just dismal.
I will start by saying I have used freedom for years, both personally and recommended to people whilst teaching. It’s a free domain, and with a small free hosting site you can launch a project to see it working for real.
However just recently, my daughter wanted to set up a T-shirt online business. Freenom was the solution, except you can’t change the name server.... when you do, it won’t propagate. Change it back to freenom it’s fine, but it won’t update the a record either... I have emailed, but no response.
So I am left with domains set but pointing nowhere... brilliant! I certainly wouldn’t pay for this company to do anything, as they don’t exactly lead themselves to exemplify worthiness of money!
Used them as a service for ~>6 years…
Used them as a service for ~>6 years with a renewed free domain.
Usually they sent a renewing warning prior to the domain expiring.
They didn't do it last time, and to reactivate the domain I had to buy the domain (whose cost was higher than normal, probably due to the traffic history on the domain).
By the time I got to contact them regarding the situation, someone else bought the domain (who I later found out was probably just a bot, since accessing the domain takes you to scummy shady ads).
The ticket to support was closed 3 times without a single reply from them.
Shameful company. Highly DO NOT recommend relying on their services. Only good for toying around as web dev that wants something public, but don't use it for anything you rely on.
Feel disappointed,waste time and frustrated
Feel disappointed.
First time order, it was great. and they solved the problem very quickly.
But this time I have the same issue again. I transfer the payment via bank transfer.
Afterward, they claimed they didn't receive any payment. I contact my bank also double-checked the transfer details. It was no problem at all.
So I contacted them by mail in the first week, no response.
Because they only answer the question from their site.
But, after 3-4 time messages from the site. And long times waiting for their replying. They still answered no payment received. Additional, I also attached the receipt but they said didn't see any attachment.
It's been a month. make me feel waste time and frustrated.
You get what you pay for.
The lower prices and free domains are very attractive for beginners but the services provided are not really worth it. The website is a bit slow and managing your domains and changing settings is tedious and even slower.
HORRIBLE!!!!!
HORRIBLE!!!!!
NEVER EVER register domains on FREENOM!
I just can not connect my domains with anything.
And I PAID for it.
Worst Costumer experience Ever!!!!!!!!
