New customers - please note, we supply millions of plants every year and at peak times and around bank holidays, there may be seasonal delays in delivery. We won't compromise quality and ship orders in the days preceding a long weekend for tender plants, nor will we ship houseplants during times of frost.

New gardeners, please remember prior to reviewing that certain plants might not be in bloom on delivery, plants and flowers having their own seasonal blooming periods etc including dropping their foliage for winter. Thank you for your support.

This is an appalling company

This is an appalling company. Keep well away.
I paid close to £100 for a winter flowering clematis which died within a month and a Clerodendron tree which has only budded on half the tree.
Their 5 year guarantee is a joke. The hoops you have to jump through makes it pointless even trying. Contacting them is impossible as you just deal with a robot that spews out the usual banalities.

Amazing plants and service

Plants were so healthy and well packaged. Fantastic communication from ordering to delivery. I had 2 Korean dwarf lilac trees, they were stunning and amazing value. Have used this company several times and will continue to do so.

Very healthy weeping blossom

My purchase arrived in very good condition, packaged well with a very good delivery service.
My weeping blossom tree was a lot bigger than I expected which was a lovely surprise, so all in all I am one happy customer.

Plants received extremely poor is the customer service.

A 1 star rating for the experience I have had with this company is too high. All 4 plants arrived in such poor condition some full of a creeping weed. At their request I sent photos, I was told I needed to take more, then asked to take photo of delivery note, pot labels and packaging as though I was not being honest. Pots were so dirty and bashed as were labels, all four plants were yellow and two full of a creeping grass. In the end after many emails I have decided to put it down to experience, will never purchase from them again and decided to agree to disagree. They would only offer me a small percentage of the price in form of a refund. I didn't agree to this being determined they not get away with the way they handled the situation. My gardener a qualified horticulturist is in today, his recommendation was to discard them and not infect my garden with the weed growing through the plants. I would not recommend this company and certainly won't be using them again.

Not so good experience - Quality issues

Not so good experience. Substandard quality and rotten plants supplied. Also some of the descriptions are misleading,
Dealing with the customer service is another nightmare, they do not read and review the details sent and keep asking the same question.

Avoid - do not order (cheap pricing may be attractive but quality is an issue)

Excellent plants, great company

I've bought a number of plants from this company over the years. I've never been disappointed. They are always well packaged and healthy. As I look around my garden all of those plants have grown well and are thriving. I'm not a particularly good gardener either.

I just felt like leaving a review on here after admiring the huge Choisya Ternata bushes I got from this company years ago, they were my first purchase. They are now almost 7ft tall, in full flower and smell incredible. Thank you Gardening Express for your exceptional service.

Complaint

Firstly, my order took ages to arrive. Secondly the first two parcels had no packing manifest. One of the trees which was an anniversary tree for my husband was completely broken. I was also missing the 3rd parcel. The customer service is appalling repeatedly requesting information I had already sent and was being picked up piecemeal by different agents. NO ability to speak to anyone. There was also a mis-pick on the order sending two of 1 item and missing another off which only became apparent when I chased and received the 3rd parcel. I then had to advise them of what the issue was and only then did they arrange to send me the missing item. The mis-picked item was not required and a replacement for the broken item was deemed not necessary to be sent as it was the same item, albeit a very poor specimen, which I will not be able to give to my husband for an anniversary present. Altogether disgusted with the whole process on an expensive order just shy of £200.Lastly, all companies make errors, however it is how they deal with them that really demonstrates the ethos and the value the company places on customer service. I will NOT be placing my business with them ever again.

I have been a customer of gardening express for a number of years and usually the plants are fine and if not, the customer service was very responsive in dealing with issues.
I am afraid after my last experience, I will never buy from them again.
Having recently spend a considerable amount of money buying many plants, one of the trees in the order above arrived diseased, with bare branches. I took some pictures and emailed the customer service. Kit came back to me, trying to convince me that it was simply a dry tree. I resend some more pictures, explaining that I actually come from horticultural background and I know diseased tree when I see it. I asked Kit to organise a return postage for me. In response, I received an email telling me to organise and pay for my own postage!!
I was astonished! Having sent very clear pictures showing the disease clearly, I did not expect to have to pay for return postage for a tree I already paid £59 for! Quite apart from any inconvenience of it.
Clearly, their assurances on the website promising good healthy plants are completely not true. Will never buy again.

These plants are not worth planting out

The plants arrived in a very poor and unhealthy condition and are clearly not fit for planting. A number appear stressed, damaged or diseased, which is unacceptable given the size and value of the order.

I have already provided 32 photographs demonstrating the condition of the plants, yet Gardening Express continues to request further images rather than addressing my request for a refund. This is beginning to feel like an unnecessary delay tactic rather than a genuine attempt to resolve the matter.

In addition, the original packaging was saturated on arrival and the cardboard boxes are no longer reusable, making a return impractical. I have said the plants are available for pick up but they are not interested... now off to a supermarket to find suitable packaging...

I am extremely disappointed with both the quality of the plants supplied and the handling of this complaint. Based on this experience, I would not use Gardening Express again and would struggle to recommend the company to others.

Alas NO MORE AS SOMEONE AT GARDEN EXPRESS THAT HUNTLY ABERDEENSHIRE IS NOW IN HIGHLAND AND I CANNOT BE SUPLIED> I HAVE SPOKEN TO A HUMAN ONT THEIR CHAT SERVICE BUT THE TELL ME IT CANNOT BE CHANGED GLAD TO SEE THEY ARE SO BUSY THEY CAN LOSE CUSTOMERS MY ACCOUNT LAST YEAR TOTALLED 400 POUNDS GREAT SERVICE I THINK NOT

Have ordered quite a few plants from Gardening Express and have always been more than satisfied with the quality and importantly, the packaging. The price is always fair and the goods have always arrived within the timescale allocated. No complaints here!
