While they offer a good service, they have a very misleading contract term which is 3 years not 2, also if ament or add services they create a new contract, therefore the 3 years starts again. Their retentions team also provide misleading information.

We are having to close our trade business account for the collection of waste fortnightly as our business is transferring elsewhere. I have been told today I need to write a letter and send it to head office as I can’t do this via email.

When I opened the account, someone popped a business card through our premises store, I made a telephone call, an appointment was made and I filled in a form. The account was opened. All has been good ever since.

I’m finding it unhelpful that I have to write a letter, which will have to be sent special delivery to make sure they get it within a quick timeframe, which all in all will cost me in the region of £7 to confirm that we want to close our account. If this was 1998 or even 2005, I would understand. But this is 2025 and not even my bank would expect me to write a letter to close my account. This is especially confusing as I am the director of this business.

Very positive experience so far with Gaskills, they have provided great service - providing bins at short notice and always letting us know if there have been any issues with collection. Would use them again!

Drivers need to observe speed limits within country lanes.

Would not use this company again. Takes three months to cancel a contract, which has never been signed. Also you cannot e-mail to cancel the contract, you have to put it in writing. What a joke in this day and age. Plus miss emptying the bin on a regular basis and the over charges are a joke.

Gaskell's provided a good mixed waste collection for my holiday let in Wales for 18 months then cancelled with 30 days notice just before the legislation changes in Wales requiring separated recycling. They evidently couldn't provide the required service,which would have been obvious a year ago but they never notified until the last moment. Left me scrabbling to find a collection service last minute. Never replied to any emails or phone calls. Total disregard for customer service.

Appalling and dishonest company to deal with - go with anyone else if you possibly can. Particular issues:
- contract is pitched as 2 year minimum but you cannot get out of it before 3 years due to termination clause
- they have the right to increase prices for any reason during those 3 years including such things as the cost of their staff wages going up - they can't lose
- they will invoice you for more bins than you actually have on site if you don't monitor each collection carefully
- they will lift and charge you for empty bins unless you monitor them carefully
- they will charge you £10 per document if you ask for evidence of them providing a particular service
- they will charge you at a higher rate for mixed waste if there is one bit of non-recycling in a recyclable rubbish bin (around £10 more)
- they can vary collection days or miss collection days entirely and you will get no apology and certainly no compensation or costs for having to arrange alternative disposal
Please go in with your eyes open and consider alternatives.

Having been with them for a couple of years. Had nothing but awful customer service. Unreliable collections/faulty bins. The attempt to get out of there horrendous contracts are shocking they hike their prices up and then deny ever receiving your letter of termination. Please find a local independent waste company instead! You will only regret going with Gaskells.

I signed a 2 year contact with Gaskells, went to give notice within the last 6 months but not later than 3 months before the end to be told I can't give notice of termination within the first 2 years. So the next time I can terminate is the last 6-3 months of the following year. This means I have to be with them for 3 years, doesn't sound like a 2 year contract to me. Sounds a like shady business practice to me. Very unimpressed, now it doesn't matter how good a deal they could offer in the future I won't be staying with them a day longer than the 2 year (3 year really) contract.

Jay who set us up was so helpful and got us the right bin for our company needs . they are always prompt when collecting , nothing is too much trouble for them,
we are also glad to find a company that recycles the waste .

I have recommended Gaskells to other businesses as a very happy customer. We changed waste providers a few years back and more than happy. Lucy Richardson has been fantastic during this time and helping us when needed. It's nice to have service with a smile!

We have had a brilliant service from the start with special thanks to Jordan who completed everything for the service to go ahead smoothly. He has been available for any questions and always sorted any queries out for us. All the staff who have attended to collect our waste have been very helpful and pleasant. Keep it up guys.

We have been working with Gaskells waste for a number of years and have always found them to be an excellent company to work with. We have 4 sites and have always found them to be reliable but on the odd occasion there has been a problem Rob is always on the phone and resolves the issue.
Would highly recommend this company.

Hide behind their contracts that they will mis-sell to you. rubbish customer service and they lie! Hang your heads in shame Gaskells. What a joke of a company!

READ YOUR CONTACTS BEFORE YOU SIGN. The company has a bad practice of not telling you that you just signed 2 years contract, and that your contract is automatically extended if you dont give them 3 months notice. They are being very nice to you, until the point your waste collection cost more than water bill, and you mention it. Then its like 180 turn, and suddenly you're the enemy.
Yes, the price may be more optimistic at the beginning, but because of 2 years contract, they have time to rip you off slowly. Get your waste with your local council, at least they're not private pocket of a greedy man.
