I have been scammed out of €5,000 by Gate.io. I made a €5,000 deposit via bank transfer three weeks ago, they received the money, but they have never credited it to my account. Their customer service team has been giving me excuses for two weeks, but the reality is they’ve kept my money and refuse to refund it. I have filed a legal complaint against them, and I encourage all of you who have also been scammed to take legal action against these fraudsters. This is unacceptable. They are stealing people’s money!

GATE scams you for your information to sell it and hold your funds and steal your funds!

Unlike every other crypto platform that would give you a logical way to enter your account if you change your phone number such as verifying your Password, verifying Google Authenticator and verifying your email and even one popping up saying it recognizes the IP address I am accessing from and to just verify my password/email verification. Only 2 steps... so you know that every one of these platforms especially being crypto platforms which are supposed to be the future of technology and future currency, they all know easily what your original IP address was when you created your account with them
That information Should be stored on their servers Or simply pop up on your account on their side As you're able to do so On many different websites And this has not been something Recent but something you've been able to do for years and years now. But using those platforms, LOGICAL SECURITY TYPE PLATFORMS and BOOM! Smart logical thinking and they allow you back into your account regardless of you being off of the platform for over a year which is what I just went through after major medical problems. I regained access to multiple International crypto platforms that no longer accept the US and is technically restricted same as gate.io, however the very important difference is that the other platforms I was allowed to gain access in about 10 minutes, with only two platforms which are actually based in the United States requiring my identification which one took 24 hours and I was in and the other took 48 hours and I was in. So the most time it took to get into any platform other than Gate was 2 days. The amount of time it took to get into all four of the other International platforms that no longer allowed US citizen access, took less than 10 minutes and not only did it take less than 10 minutes once I was in some had the kyc pop up, similar to gate letting you know they no longer operate in your region and that you are unable to make exchanges, HOWEVER every single one of the four allowed full withdrawals along with the ability to use trade, Trading to USDT for easy ability to withdraw your funds from their International platform into your wallet or whatever address you're sending to. These are much smaller platforms than Gate, however they are much smarter and logical than gate who doesn't even allow you to access the chat or anything whatsoever other than have the kyc pop up over and over and over making it so you can't get into your account. And if you have changed your phone number but you still have every other form of verification which is many including verifying what you think would be all they need extra in their first email which asks for what coins you remember being in your account, your first traded coin which is ridiculous to ask because it had been so long but luckily could find that by logging into one of my other crypto accounts and seeing the transaction, asking the latest crypto that you had traded and transferred out I believe? I'm not positive but they were very confusing and it was about 10 things that they wanted from you. On top of that they require you to take a photo of yourself plus a photo of your ID plus a photo of yourself and your ID to gain access for simply not having the same freaking phone number.... and after you complete ALL of that extra BS, that should not even be required because you already have so much information and verification information that they should just simply accept! And questions that are so ridiculous such as your first deposit ever like you're supposed to remember that when you're a member for three or four years! Or what your last trade was if you haven't been on the app for over a year! It Instantly feels like an illogical Ridiculous Security Measure Which then makes you feel like it's a scam Because they're asking you all this through your own email! NOT, through a secure in app upload..Gate could have their techs fix this and make things a lot easier for people, following what everyone else does to retrieving your account in a logical safe way. Simply changing your number should not justify this level of insanity. Go look at all the endless issues people are having on Reddit, discord, telegram etc There are countless people calling gate a scam! For this very reason, Something they could change So easily But don't Because They are Trying to steal your information Just like they did with me As they are information Brokers! If you're no longer making the money because you're from another region they will sell your information that they force you to give them in order to withdraw your money. 2 months of back and forth asking for pretty much every single piece of personal information they could THROUGH EMAIL. With finally having access it only allowed me to withdraw a small amount until it froze my funds. I HATE GATE.IO

Run from this CEX

If you're serious about your Web3 journey and must use a CEX non-custodial wallet, I highly recommend you avoid this app at all costs unless you're okay with losing your money. Bitget and Binance are far better alternatives, in my opinion.

It's been nearly two months since I lost access to my account after uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Now, I can see my wallet and watch my money dwindle to $0, but I can't access or restore it because this so-called "platform" won't let me. Customer service has stopped replying to my emails entirely, and their Telegram and in-app chat are a joke. The only response I get is, "Be patient while we escalate the issue," which is clearly just an excuse for doing absolutely nothing. (ticket 1286463)

Let me make this crystal clear: there is nothing "non-custodial" about Gate.io Web3. Avoid it like the plague unless you enjoy frustration and financial loss.

Update 1: 08/02/25

Since it has been over six weeks since I wrote this review and over two months since the incident, nothing reasonable has been done. I can't even bear to think about the fact that my funds dropped from $500 to less than $10, and I can't do anything or be able to close my loss trade because of their very unreliable platform.

On high-volume Disappointing Service and Unreliable Stop Ordersading days

On high-volume trading days, the stop-loss orders I placed often fail to execute properly. Even though I receive notifications stating that the orders were closed, they remain open. My Gate.io visa card has been blocked…

My Gate.io visa card has been blocked after many failure attempts to withdraw money from ATM. After that I requested for a new card they asked from me 30USDT. For shipping and manufacturing the card. Then I waited almost 2 months for a new card which didnt still arrived. After multiple emails from my side to the support that card is not working and new card didnt arrived. I only get stupid answers which means they need more proof etc. There is no option to withdraw card balance to Unified Account or some other way . Practicly dont know what to do. Gate.io The lastest scam in crypto exchange....

This Crypto Exchange Company is one of the worst scam exchange I've ever experienced. I made a deposit of Metis (0.198metis) on January 3rd 2025, and it took 48hrs after complaining to the non-responding customer care before it reflects in the account. On the 13th Yesterday, I made another deposit from the same platform to be gate.io account (0.175metis), and still yet it did not reflect. When I contacted the customer support again, they are telling me that Metis is not received by them, even though I gave them the Hash TRX ID, the deposit screenshot and also we went to Metis explorer together and they confirmed that the Metis was sent, and in my eyes there are telling me my asset was valid. That I should apply for recovery with a $20 fee.

What kind of scamming is all these, gate.io is it $7 that you people want to start stealing from your customer?

I tried making several withdrawals

I tried making several withdrawals, but the withdrawals were delayed and later cancelled. To-date (25/12/2024) I have yet to receive those withdrawals. These withdrawals were made in July, August and September 2024. From this experiences I would NOT recommend gate to anyone!
I found a platform that specializes in tracking lost funds and filing legal actions against scammers. They identified the scammers’ wallets and successfully get all the stolen funds. Their advanced techniques, including exploiting wallet vulnerabilities and filing legal claims, made it possible to get my money back.

If you’ve been in similar situations, don’t lose hope—there are professionals who can help. Feel free to me using ‘ kronwetterashley@ gmail ., and I’ll gladly share the information that assisted me. Stay cautious and always protect your wallet details!

Blocking funds

My account was closed without any prior notice on December 31, 2024
On December 31, 2024, I deposited 30,000 Tether which was never added to my Gate.io account, although everything was correct and when checking the transfer on the blockchain network, the transfer was smooth. But Gate.io blocked the money and has not yet returned it.

I have filed ticket numbers 1330123 and 1329625 and also sent an email to support.

It is not clear how many days it will take to fix this issue and why they have kept my money and will not return it?

Gate.io support does not provide a proper and correct answer at all. I am following up and still waiting for the refund.

Has Been Holding My Money for Over a Year Without Justification

I am outraged by Gate.io's handling of my funds. My 17 Ethereum (ETH) have been held for over a year without justification, despite providing all available information. I have repeatedly explained the funds were acquired through a legitimate cash transaction, and no further documentation exists. Gate.io’s support is unhelpful and only responds when I escalate publicly, which is unacceptable.

I demand the immediate release of my funds or a refund to the original wallet they came from. Why are you stalling and holding my money? Who will pay for my losses caused by your negligence? ASSETS FROZEN FOR ALMOST 20 DAYS! Frustrated with Gate.io’s Unreasonable Requests

I am writing to express my frustration regarding the ongoing issue with my account and the freezing of my funds, which has now lasted almost 20 days. I have complied with all your requests, submitting the required documents multiple times through EDD, yet my submissions have been repeatedly rejected followed by additional unreasonable demands.

Most recently, you requested a "Stanhope statement showing the last 4 digits of my card" for verification. This request is completely illogical because the card is managed through the Gate.io platform, and there is no external Stanhope statement available to users. It feels as though these demands are intentionally designed to delay the resolution and keep my funds frozen.

I have provided everything in good faith, but this endless cycle of rejections and new requests is unacceptable. I demand:

Immediate clarification on how I am supposed to provide the requested document.
Clear and actionable guidelines to resolve this issue without further delays.
The unfreezing of my card and access to my funds as soon as possible.

If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will escalate my complaint further, including filing reports with regulatory bodies and exploring legal action if necessary. This situation is not only unprofessional but severely damaging to Gate.io’s reputation as a trustworthy platform.

The worst


A month ago I withdrew money from gateio to a bank. The money has been lost and they do not respond to my ticket opened on November 21 number 1264182, they closed it themselves.
I opened another ticket and it says they have responded to me but I have no response. Everything smells very bad...

Update January 3rd 2025: I want to clarify that I never received a response to my ticket nor was they asked for any documentation. The only answer I have received is this one, on trustpilot and I really appreciate it but does not correspond to reality.

Update January 04 2025: Today I've seen the reply to my other ticket #1272253 Thank you so much. At the moment the money has not yet appeared either in the bank or in gateio. When it does, I have no problem modifying my rating. I'm also contacting the bank to investigate what could have happened.

Update January 07, 2025: Waiting for a proof of the payment/refund. Please, answer my ticket. Or please, could you tell me where can I find all the info I need? When I try to access the fiat withdrawal balance I can't access.

Update January 09, 2025: Still waiting for my tiket #1272253 to be answered. I'm not allowed any more messages.

SCAM!!!!! Do not use this exchange. You will lose your money

Do not use this exchange. Easy to transfer money on it but when you want to withdraw it will be impossible. They will ask you for advance KYC to withdraw. Later the system wont recognize your kyc. You will have to fight for it during weeks. If they approve you, then the money that you transfer never will arrive to your account. They advertise withdraw time period 1 day. Bullshit, more than a week but nothing transferred. I sent emails, at the beginning they say to way 2 days, 3 days,… No they dont reply anymore. Avoid to stack your money in their pockets, it is a scam.
UPDATE: I tried to contact several times but they never answered. THIS IS A SCAM. KEEP YOUR MONEY OUT OF THEM OR YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING.

Gate io locked my account for due google authenticator that I did not asked

Ongoing mails with the support
Every thing they are asking I am providing immediately but keeping making up reasons and asking the same things I already provided

I am really starting worry about my money
And thinking this a big fraud
I really don’t see any reason to hold my request

A Terrible platform. Skam!!!

A terrible platform, 7 ETH of my deposit was stolen, I tried to make a refund, but it was useless, they have been holding my assets for more than six months. Support responds that I have disrupted the market with my trading deals. I do not recommend using this platform if you value your assets. Scammers!!!!
