Great little shop, was tempted to purchase a few items but held back, some nice renovations going on, and looks friendly enough compared to some geek retreat shops I have visited. But sadly few weeks... See more

The Bristol GR is the best place for everyone. No need to be a geek even, just a person, the couple who run this one are the friendliest, loveliest and most welcoming people ever. You go in, you will feel like its a second home. The staff they hire are knowledgeable, accepting, friendly, and if you happen to be LGBTQIA+ well, you will just feel normal there, nothing questioned, nothing to bug ya, and honestly you'd meet several of us and new friends!
Fun games and nice people
Welcoming atmosphere, reasonably priced, people who are passionate and know about the hobbies in a way that feel genuine
Geek Retreat
I took my partner to the York store on our first date. We were made to feel very welcome, and were able to snuggle up in comfort to play some board games and have refreshments. Happy to say we're still going strong, so thanks to all the team for creating a great experience.
Great place to visit
My local one is the burton one. The staff are very friendly. The drinks are reasonably priced and all the other customers are welcoming. Jimmy The owner is so down to earth and will do what he can to make sure everyone has a good time
Great place
One of the best places to go and play geeky games like D&D and Magic the Gathering.
Helpful staff and communities
Helpful staff and communities, varied events and easy access to stock
The welcoming atmosphere
The welcoming atmosphere, very friendly and approachable staff, family friendly environment for all. I have been playing Tabletop Role-playing Games for years and to have a place to see all the family members looking forward to playing together with others, with family members also playing these games it's great to interact with other players from newbies and experienced players
Top tier amazing geek retreat place
I gave it this score is because its a lovey place to go to and meet and make new friends and its a safe place for everyone and the food is really nice and you can learn to play different card games or buy cool items. I remember going to geek retreat sometime near the end of 2021 when pokemon sword and shield fusion strike came out i had been paid and brought my first etb there which was a great thing ive brought and then now and then i used to go in and browse to see what i might buy when i get paid like to treat myself but then years gone by i went in more often fully on the 21st nov 23 i went in and asked about the pokemon events they do on Wednesdays because i wanted to get back into playing the game again and Gary helped me refresh my memory of playing the tcg game again and now i go there when im not working to play pokemon it was truely great talking to others to help make a decent deck and had help from others to help me make my deck better and I'm thankful for this community of Geek Retreat to have this place to enjoy and go to.

Customer service
Picked up some Disney Lorcana products today at geek retreat in Newcastle and the staff were helpful and had good customer service.
Awful place
Awful place, rude staff, lame assortment of basically all they try to sell and, literally stinks inside.
The glass doors recently been smashed in. I wonder why.
Great experience at Chelmsford store
Great experience at Chelmsford store - Staff are all absolutely wonderful, the atmosphere is lovely and they go above and beyond to provide for the customers. Impressed!
Avoid Glasgow store. Re-sealed packs.
First and last visit to Glasgow store.
Avoid. Pokemon packs and supposedly ‘sealed’ products like tins have been tampered with. We had two tins with around four packs that were very obvious re-seals. When challenged, they tried to dismiss it is a manufacturing fault. Serious collectors will know the difference and I loathe that not only were children mis-sold something, but that staff lied.
Several other sealed items in store, such as the Pokemon trainer milk cartons were lying, clearly opened, on shelves. I would recommend avoiding these if you expect your trainer promos to still be inside.
Also, their binder cards are in atrocious condition, many issues with which were hidden by the sleeves until they were brought home and then prepped for either grading or for binder storage. Ultimately, they had to be thrown away.
If you care about cards and collecting, avoid.
ZERO My daughter has been subjected to…
ZERO My daughter has been subjected to adult conversations about necrophillia here and also when the kids have arguments the staff take sides and then ban whomever they didn't side with. Very UNSAFE adults to be around children when I went into the Bangor ni store to speak with the staff I was laughed at, eyes rolled and didn't even stand to talk with me. Proceed to call my daughter the worst child and a bare faced liar. So rude and unprofessional
The Blackburn store is really expensive…
The Blackburn store is really expensive and we were told to leave mid game as one of our group had a drink that was not bought from them, he only had £1 to his name and they sell drinks that are really expensive.
One of the DM`s they use was very creepy towards a female friend who is only 16.
He was at least 40 by the looks of him, disgusting behaviour.
Geek Retreat in Torquay
Geek Retreat in Torquay. Absolutely loved it, very welcoming and friendly staff. Enjoyed playing the free board games. Felt like a real community space.
Boycott geek retreat!
Boycott geek retreat!! They lie and they attempt and sometimes succeed steeling previous business. Nothing wrong with healthy competition but this isn’t! They don’t steal it for another independent person they offer them chicken feed while taking the most out of it. The deals they offer you is a con and be really aware when they talk about using your savings to open a geek retreat. If you wanna open a gaming cafe go independent or if you cant don't do it!!
Oh and they also block people talking about them doing this to people so much for equality eh delete all criticism when pointed out!!
