I really enjoy this sight, my wife refers to it as my treasure hunting fix. Other than a couple bad experiences with individual sellers the overall site is awesome

seems fair thus far... yet to go to an appraiser for the value but they are pretty accurate.... be careful this website can be addictive!!
Prices quite expensive at times so usually wait for a sale
Very annoying to pay full price and then flash sale a couple of days later
Lately too much of .... spots/wide sleeves/cold shoulders
While I get that these are “ trends” it’s nice to have variety
ALSO...you have started a petites line...for us tall girls how about some jeans that are long enough to not freeze our ankles!
At present there is only one pair of black pants that are long enough
The best auction site! I always have an excellent experience with Gem Rock Auctions. Their customer service is very helpful. I will definitely recommend Gem Rock Auctions to my friends.

Positives:
The stones I have purchased on this site have been real; some have been good deals, some just OK, some not-so-good. The website managers have investigated and dealt positively and quickly with the few issues for me that have come up, which have been rare.
Negatives:
The No Reserve Auction appears fairly shady with a number of the more prolific sellers. There is the appearance of fake buyers (whether for kicks or more likely I suspect hired by the sellers), bidding up the price of the gems, and then dropping out when they think they have set the price as high as they can without actually being the winning bidder. See the other reviews stating the same issue. You can't believe the origin of the buyers. There have historically been certain buyers who bid on >75%+ of all the No Reserve stones of certain sellers, nearly 24/7. This does not seem to be real.
In a live auction, you see the person bidding, and buyers have to prove they have the money and intent to purchase. Here, you just have to trust the other bidders are real. Whether true or not, there is at least the appearance of some pretenders, "ringers", fake buyers...bidding in some auctions, particularly for the nice gems. Think about it...who is going to list a very nice gem on an auction with the chance that they won't get much for it; they have developed this backup plan.
Photos can be deceiving. Look very close. The seller's job is to make every gem and piece look as attractive as possible. If you want an analogy, these are the equivalent of Glamour Shots you see on dating sites. Real life appearance of stones may not be quite as impressive. Gem ratings re SI, VS, VVS, IF etc. vary from reality among several of the sellers
Recommendations:
(1) If you have questions re a gem, contact the seller.
(2) As mentioned above, look closely at the photos. Many of the complaints from buyers I have read on the site have been re flaws that were obvious on the photos and videos if they had looked closely enough. Look at the background of the gems photos. Sellers may try to make a light stone look darker by putting against a similar colored background. If it looks like the background was supposed to be white, but is off color, you can color correct it using a photo program to see the actual color.
(3) Develop a rapport with sellers, and you might get a better price.
(4) Do not renege on a deal. Your word should be your guarantee. There is a return policy if you are not happy with your purchase, but keep in mind you pay for return shipping, which may be halfway around the world, and cost more than what you paid for the stone.
(5) AVOID bidding the No Reserve Auctions. If you do delve into the No Reserve Auctions, have a firm price in mind for purchase and don't go above it lest you get caught paying more for a gem than you should. If you think you are bidding against a fake bidder, you probably are, so just stop. Be smart. There will be another stone in your future.
(6) As with most things in the world, if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. Buyers should be looking to find a good stone for a good price, sellers should be interested in doing business and making a living, just like anyone else. No one should be looking for a steal or to rip anyone off. Unfortunately, it seems to occur
(7) Have a realistic idea of how long it will take for your purchase to arrive. These stones are often traveling thousands of miles. It may be a month to get to you. If it is a large money purchase, consider insuring it.
Love Gem Rock. I have been buying for many years and as a gem collector the pieces are always amazing
No customer support at all. Just a automotive service that doesn't help. I needed help with going through the checkout and kept coming up with "payment provider error" when all my details were correct. Would not recommend.
I have been buying from this site for about 2 years. I have found the majority of sellers are professional and reliable. I love their wide range of stones and sellers. Buyers must hold some responsibility.
After reading other reviews these stores and gemrock cannot be accountable for the mail delivery times. Also sellers try to show the stones magnified. This sometimes effects the appearance. You shouldn't buy unless sure. I have asked many questions at times probably annoying but at least i was sure when it came to buy. I recommend this site for sure.
Very bad. Paid for a bamboo watch with rosegold face on the 15th of November 2020, and was told that the eta was 7 Dec 2020.
Still NO package, and VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THE SUPPOSED "IRIS" person
Hi i am wondering are the gems are real cause i do want to buy one but just scared to get scammed that there gonna give me a fake one
I purchased a Sapphire from a seller in Thailand and the quality of the stone was amazing. I make my own Jewellery so I am fairly picky about my stones
Supported a mockery actioned gem seller and defended them and neglected their reputation. No justice and blinded.
I was trying to ask for a detailed answer on the website to a gem seller, (Artgems of NSW) the seller decided to bully me by mocking me by saying ungodly things then falsely reported me to the admin, I have sent emails they didn't reply. I've been blacklisted to this day. If Gemrock Auctions wanna support this type of person then their business shall be destroyed very soon.

it arrived in AMERICA on 10/2/20 it is now 10/20/20 and i still have not received my sapphire—i also have not recieved any notice of expectant date of delivery . i am very concerned if it was even sent at all ? can you blame me ? how long has it been do you even remember ?
i want to continue doing business with you but you need to step up and follow thru on this and locate my half carat sapphire since your shipping agent cant seem to do it ! i am past eager in awaiting the arrival im approaching anger and disappointment - i have forwarded both your response and my reply to GEM ROCK AUCTIONS so they can get involved and finally i can get some info . my next step is in your hands . show me i was correct in trusting you—next step is yours!—thank you i hope
I have been blaclisted on your site and I don’t know why. How can this be fixed.
I saw a most beautiful Indonesian Moss Agate and after some very competitive and excessive bidding, I was successful. When the stone arrived it was almost colourless. I complained to Rock Auction about the Seller using enhanced photos For the sale and very quickly I received a decision from their ‘so called independent’ Sheriff Audit scheme. It decided that all the seller’s information was accurate and gave me no chance to explain my case and send in my photos of the Stone.
I am complaining to Rock Auctions every few days and asking to upload my photos but I just get messages saying it is ‘closing case in 24hrs as we have not heard from you’. My emails are on their website so they are received.
It is important for this site to take action when sellers Misrepresent their items. I paid three times what this item was worth on the basis of colour enhanced photos. Gem Rock Auctions immediate answer to me was send it back and get a refund .... but can I trust this seller? If I send it back will he send a refund. What about the shipping charges both ways and the import duty invoice, I am expecting to come any day now.
I note that a recent post here was about a Very similar buying experience. I have responded back to Gem Rock again this morning. I will post on this site what sort of answer I get .... in fact I will keep updating here until I get a positive response at last! Gem Rock Auctions needs to sanction dishonest sellers and give some thought and help to mislead buyers.
I hope that this message is seen by Rock Auctions and they Decide to do the right thing.
