In 25 yrs of RVing

In 25 yrs of RVing, I have never come across any company as incompetent as General RV. Sales promises you the world and doesn't deliver. Service is excellent at only one thing, and that is passing the buck. Biggest mistake in my RVing life was to buy from General RV. I am stuck with them while our rig is under warranty to get repairs done. Brand new rig and it's been in service for 6 months....you heard that right 6 months. Nothing is ever thier fault, it's always the fault of someone else. The repairs they have managed to complete are shoddy.....I mean seriously, I could have stuck the double stick tape up myself to mount the electronics (heaven forbid the mount it correctly with screws or proper mounting brackets) and had it fall off before we got back to our storage lot and it wouldn't have taken 3 week for me to stick up the double stick tape either. That was what they accomplised that go-round in 3 weeks. What a joke. I have had this rig for 6 months and it is still not usable....6 months, a brand new rig. Unacceptable. We were supposed to leave tomorrow for our annual 4 months summer trip....but guess what? Here we sit because once again they can't get something repaired in a timely manner and we can't use our rig. Yes, I checked that General RV will be notified about this review.....do I think anything will happen as a result? Nope, because that is how they operate. Angry and frustrated doesn't even begin to explain what we are going through. Never, ever by from them, it's just not worth it.

I purchased a very expensive fifth…

I purchased a very expensive fifth wheel from the Salisbury, NC location one month ago. To date, I do not have it. The sales manager continuously mislead me that he was getting my trailer to me with the accessories I requested. To my dismay, he has no control over service but he led me to believe that he did. He then threatened me (I have the text) if I continued to pursue this. As a result I have consulted with my attorney and the local law enforcement agency regarding my property. Horrible company and new to the area. Contacted the Corporate Office and have not received any response back. Apparently, they do not care about customer service but sales only.

Don't Buy from General RV in Jacksonville

As they say, I am giving them 1 star, because they don't have a 0 or a minus rating.
We purchased a used camper from General RV in Orange Park/ Jacksonville. Don't ever purchase an RV from this Company. If you read their reviews online, most of them are bad, and not just Jacksonville, all of them in Florida.
We purchased a used camper from them 2 1/2 years ago. They advised us that the camper was in good shape and if there was anything wrong, the warranty company would take care of it. We were allowed to inspect the camper, but only for about 15 minutes. We picked up the camper on July 8, 2022. We returned the unit to General RV on August 2, 2022 and complained there were problems with the camper's sliders. After waiting for several hours, the mechanic and Scott McLoed came out and proceeded to tell us what was wrong with the sliders and the repair was our responsibility, we requested the sale be cancelled, and they refused.
We used the camper the first time in November 2022 and the refrigerator quit and the sliders were sticking. We called a mobile repair and the warranty covered the refrigerator repair and some coverage on one of the sliders. We used the unit in January of 2023 and took it to another mobile repair, as the first did not have time. They advised the slider on the passenger side's floor was totally rotted out. They could replace the floor, or place supports in it to hold it up. The warranty company refused coverage, so we used the supports, as that was all we could afford. They stated that General RV probably knew about these issues when they sold us the camper. In August of 2023 the water tank supports rusted, and the water tank detached. It pulled the wiring lose to the running and brake lights on the back of the trailer. We called a mobile repair, and they advised the wiring had been done in Canada. We redid the wiring and put more supports on the water tank. In January of 2024, we brought the camper in for service, as the heater was not working. A reputable dealer advised the heater was working, but the lines for the hot air looked like swiss cheese. We repaired the lines with foil tape, rather than replacing them, because of the expense. Sometime in the summer of 2024, we took the unit to, again, a reputable dealer and had the driver's side slider adjusted, as it had slipped out of the track.
In January of 2025, the passenger's side slider would extend, but had to be manually pushed in. We took it to a reputable dealer and they advised the floor was completely warped and had to be replaced. A further inspection of the dealer found that there had been a satellite dish had been removed from the roof and had not been properly sealed. They also reported that the skylite had been improperly sealed and had a crack, that was also improperly sealed. Their opinion was the General RV knew of these damages that occured prior to our purchasing the unit. It was these damages that had caused all the leaking and rotting of the floors, as well as the difficulties with the sliders. At this point they advised that the cost of repairs would be more that the unit was worth.
We approached General RV, corporate and they referred us to the Jacksonville location. Their stance is it was an 'as is' sale and they would make not reparations. Corporate supported Jacksonville's decision.
So, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM GENERAL RV.

Absolutely a horrible company

This is my first review of a company, I always give a second chance, but in this case I had to post this review. I took my motorhome to General RV in Winter Garden Florida for a problem with my AC, it was randomly coming on and off, it would work fine and then all of the sudden it would shut off and come right back on and off and on again. I was told by the service adviser that they WOULD NOT be able to fix it if they couldn’t replicate the problem. They ran the unit all day and it ran fine, they called me to let me know they couldn’t fix it because it was working great. A few days later they called back and told me WE HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM WITH YOUR AC, we have ordered the part and just need your approval to repair, I was very happy to get it fixed so i gave my approval. After picking up the RV, the very next day the problem was still there, keep in mind they NEVER was able to replicate the problem as I was told but assured me this was the fix. I called them and there response was, you approved the repair so we will not refund your $560. They told me to bring it back but would not be able to fix it if they couldn’t replicate. A week later I had a mobile RV tech fix the problem in 20 minutes, it was a faulty freeze sensor. I told them this and their response was, to bad we or not refunding your money because you approved the repair. Just my opinion but I will never go back to a business that takes this position and I HIGHLY recommend no one else take there RV to this business.

Still no response from upper management from this absolutely horrible company, in my opinion this company ripped me off for $560 for a repair that fixed nothing, the sad part is they don’t care, there only response, we are sorry it didn’t work but but we have decided to keep your money anyway. Great job Mr. Davis and Mr. Baidas, you’re running a top notch organization. NOT

I could not be any happier with my experience with Gen RV. Everybody that I had contact with was pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, understanding and a pleasure to deal with. Where can you find that in this day and age?! It was encouraging to deal with a company that cares and knows what they’re doing. I went to two other dealerships before visiting Gen RV, I would have had buyers remorse to the highest level. Everybody at RV made this experience as easy as possible. I will return if I ever upgrade or needed anything for my RV.

Unethical Sales

Its a lot of fun to watch Matt and his videos. He represents General RV and encourages us to call and use his Matt Bucks to buy their RV's. He truly seems to care about people and so you think perhaps General RV cares about people. Sadly, they don't and pressurized sales tactics are there only currency for human interaction. Matt recently had a video of a show in Ocala, where he showed us active Class B's and C's for sale with show pricing. The second RV he showed was something new to me and something I would have like to actively pursue, a $70K Thor Pasadena SE21. However I could not find this RV anywhere, and even the Thor website didn't have this model and Thor representatives could fail to find it. Chatted with General and no one seemed to know it existed. Routed to an email with RILEY who asked me my budget? Why? This person never answered, emailed again, still nothing about the $70k RV. This time they asked if I filled out a trade form. Why again? Got a weird deflection email that was an attempt to insult me. My conclusion, this was a bait and switch, showing a 1 off low ball model to get us in the door to buy something else, obviously more expensive. I have called General before the last time I was RV shopping and was strong armed by another mean spirited sales professional. So this isn't a one off, this is the bread and butter of General RV, cold-hearted deception. Keep looking folks, there has got to be kindness and honesty somewhere in RV sales.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Showed up on January 20th to pickup RV and dealer was not ready despite multiple emails saying I would arrive on 20th. Spent 4 .5 hours waiting for RV to be prepped. 70K RV rolled off lot with broken foglight and after less than a thousand miles needed an oil change. Some prep! I called sales rep to ask about my service contract fixing these things and was ignored for several days. When they finally returned my call ( Hi Sal-- Thanks for being unresponsive and totally unhelpful) I was told oil changes dont count (read maintenance contract wording and you would never know that) and theres a three week waiting period for an appointment. DO NOT BUY THE MAINTENANCE CONTRACT. What waste of money. They cant schedule things in a timely manner, charge more than any one else would for simple maintenance and charge a deductible when you try to use the contract. General RV Oil change wait 3 weeks/$250. Scheduled at local shop in 24 hours/ $160. Its been two months and they have not responded to my emails/calls as I have not received my license plate or confirmation they canceled the maintenance contract. These guys are all smiles while taking your money but once you have an issue they scurry like cockroaches. Just terrible.

GENERAL RV PRAYS UPON HURRICANE…

GENERAL RV PRAYS UPON HURRICANE VICTIMS!!! BEWARE OF CHRIS AND ALEX THE DOVER STORE'S RESIDENT THUGS WHO ARE OKAY CHEATING YOU OUT OF $5000 DEPOSIT!
We are deeply disappointed by the manner in which we were treated during this transaction. As hurricane victims facing significant hardships, we feel exploited and preyed upon by a merchant that had no intention of delivering the promised product in the agreed upon time frame, yet is attempting to fraudulently retain our deposit money.
As hurricane victims in urgent need of temporary housing, we placed a $5,000 deposit at the Tampa RV Show with General RV of Tampa under the assurance that a travel trailer was available for immediate delivery. However, when the agreed pickup date arrived, General RV had no record of our unit and no timeline for its availability.

Repeated requests for paperwork have been ignored, and documents provided to American Express during our dispute TO GET OUR DEPOSIT MONEY BACK appear falsified. Numerous online reviews suggest a pattern of similar deceptive practices by General RV, using high-pressure sales tactics and withholding refunds.

We have filed complaints with the Florida Attorney General and the Department of Motor Vehicles, urging an investigation into these fraudulent practices. Stay away from General RV!

I purchased my Mercedes Integra launch…

I purchased my Mercedes Integra launch at General RV the MSRP on this vehicle is $250,000. They are so-called training was very inadequate, but that was the least of my issues thanks to Google. I immediately had a problem with the charging system the awning and several other coach issues when I brought it in, they literally told me it was my fault. I owned the vehicle for eight weeks and it was not charging properly when asked if they could do something about the awning. The service person literally told me to climb up there and put white lithium grease on my brand new awning that was never opened before and would not open. The other issues were just things falling off that could’ve required. Very minimal attention but not what you expect on a brand new Vehicle when I brought it to General RV they literally did nothing about it. Blaming all the issues on me six months later, I got a letter in the mail from Integra explaining all of my issues were all recalls when I brought this to the attention of general RV they literally did nothing and had no recourse for me. I highly recommend reading this review before you purchase anything from General RV.

GRV Tampa experience

Not sure why so many negative reviews, but we are thoroughly satisfied working and dealing with General RV. Don’t get me wrong, it took some doing. We started at the Hershey RV show and finally completed our purchase on Friday, 1/10. We worked through Brendon and one of the General Managers who we met in Hershey, finally walking through our unit with David McGee in Tampa, FL. May I say that this dealership was top notch from Dave, Angel, Kim, and ( I think) Celi who schedules deliveries. Everyone was very professional, pleasant, and accommodating.
I would recommend anyone to work with them. Be patient - Good things come to those who wait.

Service at formally Independence RV in Winter Garden Florida, was terrific. We had an issue with our instrument panel, which was a Spartan warranty item. Now, General RV, handled it professionally and bent over backwards to attend to our needs and answered all questions quickly. Service writer Tom and Tech Joe went above and beyond. Thank you for your help. We’ll be back.

General RV just wants a sale

A friend of mine bought a beautiful NeXus motor home from General RV in IL. I wanted the same one, which was in FL, Dover specifically. They promised I could get the same deal but had to take delivery before the end of the month—the next day. I’m in SC. I was trading in my old RV, and they said they needed possession before finalizing the deal. They proposed I drive to NC, drop it off, and they’d deliver the new RV to my house for $5,000. Ummm, no. I decided to drive down that night to deliver my old RV. I packed essentials, loaded the dogs, and drove 10 hours. I got there, and the RV wasn’t ready. I did a walkthrough and gave them a punch list of items to fix. After two days, with little progress, I had to leave. They’d already taken my old RV but left much unfinished. I said my guy would handle the remaining fixes, and they agreed.

I didn’t know about a gas tank issue until heading home. In Jacksonville, FL, I stopped for gas, but 4 pumps and 45 minutes later, I learned it was a known issue. Ummm, no one thought to fix it? I returned to Jacksonville General RV. They confirmed the batteries weren’t charging and noted the fridge bin was cracked. They took pictures and said they’d order and ship a replacement.

I arrived Oct 31, finalized paperwork Nov 1, and left Nov 2. They were supposed to transfer my old tag and provide missing parts (curtain, tiebacks, mirror, fridge bin, etc.). I later realized I overpaid $25k for the extended warranty due to their sneaky presentation. While waiting around, I read my paperwork thoroughly and requested cancellation. They said I needed to sign paperwork for that.

In December, General RV argued I needed to pay taxes on the new motorhome before completing the registration transfer. In SC, tag taxes aren’t due until August, confirmed by the tax assessor’s office. Still, General RV insisted I pay taxes and provide proof. First, they claimed I needed to pay sales tax, then switched to property tax. SC has a $500 cap on sales tax for this sale type. They sat on the paperwork for a month, despite legally having 45 days.

Meanwhile, SC DMV sent a letter stating I must return the old RV tags due to canceled insurance or face fines and suspension. Had the dealership acted timely, this wouldn’t have been an issue. I had to visit the DMV to resolve it.

Separately, someone emailed my purchase agreement to the tax assessor’s office. I discovered this while paying house property taxes and saw the new RV listed—odd since they aren’t due until August. This raised concerns the dealer might’ve requested a new plate, not the transferred one I paid for. I called the assessor’s office and DMV. The assessor couldn’t say who sent the paperwork but told me to call once the transferred plate was in their system to fix it. Yet another task for me. It seems the dealer wants me to pay taxes now to get the receipt they need. Not happening.

The dealer also increased the RV price and trade-in value equally (a wash) but failed to disclose it would raise my taxes. When questioned, they assured me it wouldn’t affect taxes—they were wrong. My property taxes increased by hundreds of dollars.

My guy fixed everything the dealer should have addressed, and NeXus themselves took care of additional issues. Their national sales rep was great and fully aware of my General RV experience. I have nothing but praise for NeXus.

As of Jan 6 (60+ days later):
• No registration
• No replacement parts
• No cancellation of extended warranty
• Dover store confirmed Jacksonville didn’t order the fridge bin

This has prevented me from driving the RV anywhere. I can’t refinance to lower my rate since underwriting requires registration. I’m constantly following up because no one does what they say they will. Calls are passed between people, and everyone seems surprised I’m upset.

I filed complaints with Florida Highway Safety, the Attorney General, and BBB. FL Highway Safety required the dealer’s license number, which the dealership claimed not to know. After research, I found it in a FL database and submitted the complaint.

You’ve been warned. Once you sign the loan, they ghost you. I have no idea how they stay in business.

Update 1/6/2024, 4:30 PM EST: Still no resolution. I emailed the Sales Manager to document expectations, and they assured me of updates. I finally received paperwork to cancel the warranty and sent it to their cancellations department. Let’s see how long it takes to get my money back.

We had our vehicle towed in

We had our vehicle towed in. Area around the UHG or 2nd alternator was smoking for almost a half hour. Was sending a negative 180 amps into the coach charging system. And a overwhelming smell of burning electrical. Coachnet techs, said it is diffently the alternator, this must be towed. Per general nothing is WRONG. Had to get thor involved. They had them remove the alternator belt, so we can safety drive it from FL to our home in GA. For a 250.00 diagnostic charge, they didn't even bother to put the cover back on the inverter

They are nasty, condescending, rude and everything negative phrase. We bought this coach from them. My advice is do business elsewhere, they are awful in every aspect

I wish I could include a picture of how they left the interior. They owe me my money back for that alone.

I recently went to the General RV store…

I recently went to the General RV store in Ocala. I dealt with a young man who was knowledgable about the RV we wanted to buy- we traveled 2 hours to see this one unit only! After driving the RV we discussed numbers. They seemed a little high and told the sales associate to get back to us if anything changed. NOTHING!! Based on the lack of correspondence, I called the Tampa ( Dover ) location and spoke with a different sales associate. We talked about my trade and the exact RV and utlimately came up with a new price. I has asked to get a washer/ dryer in the deal and was told someone would get back to me. NOTHING!! I called the sales manager at the location- a guy named Chris. He saw my correspondence in his file and agreed that they had accepted a price- but no washer/ dryer. We finally agreed he would give me the washer/dryer at their cost as he only really cared about selling the unit. He asked about a non- refundable deposit and when I could pick up the unit. We basically agreed to the terms and when I would pick it up- I am a cash buyer and did not need financing. Chris was scheduled to call me back and when he did, he jacked the agreed upon price up by $10K- stating it was another individual in the system who determined the pricing. Very deceptive sales techniques!!

Brand new 2025 toy hauler

Purchased a new camper from Hershey rv show. Pickup was scheduled for Oct 15 2024. Shortly before this date we received a phone call to tell us our part was in? Strange!! They said it was a refrigerator and we said we ordered a camper not a refrigerator. After 5 minutes passed they came back and said this call was an error and the part was for another customer?
Didn’t buy that at all!!
Fast forward to pickup date.
During our demo with a nice young man we found patio doors did not latch, broken hinge on cabinet, turned on tv and the radio came on and wait, the refrigerator wouldn’t come on. They finally admitted that they did indeed change refrigerator! They lied!!!
We left our trade in on their lot and they worked it out with manufacturer to build us a new one. We agreed to this.
Fast forward to Nov 14th and we find out that our trade in is on their website for sale.
There was never a transfer of ownership, and we still have title and insurance on unit!
I called and we agreed to mutually end our purchase agreement.
We did receive deposit back and they are transporting my trade in back to our home in NY.
Not a lawyer, but selling a camper that doesn’t belong to them sounds like consumer fraud to me. Imagine if they sold it and they don’t have the title? God only knows what they would have told the buyer.
Please, please DO NOT use general RV!!
