AVOID this dealership.

I purchased an RV from this dealer in March 2024, excited to use my new unit. But that excitement quickly faded. After only a week of use, the RV began leaking from the shower valve, causing extensive water damage to the wood cabinets in the kitchen area. I immediately contacted the dealer, who asked me to bring the unit back so they could fix the leak and order parts to repair the damage. After five days, I got a call saying the leak was fixed, but the materials to repair the damaged wood would take more time to arrive.

About two months later, I received a call that the parts had finally come in, and I took the unit back to get it fixed. After weeks of waiting, I went back to pick it up, expecting to see quality repairs. Instead, I was horrified at the condition of the so-called "repairs." They had cut panels and patched them together, using wood fillers and wallpaper to cover up seams and missing parts. I called over the manager, Jerry, who agreed that the repairs were unacceptable and assured me the unit would be restored without shortcuts.

Unfortunately, the nightmare didn’t end there. After two more months of silence, I called to get an update, only to be met with voicemail after voicemail. Three months later, I finally reached the service advisor, Craig, who told me the RV had been ready for weeks, but no one had reached out. I requested pictures of the repairs to avoid another wasted trip, and once again, I saw the same shoddy work—filled wood, wallpaper tape, and caulking instead of proper replacement parts.

This has been one of the most frustrating experiences. I haven’t been able to use the RV since the first week I bought it, and I’m continually met with poor-quality repairs and dismissive service. At this point, I feel the only fair resolution is to be offered a replacement unit or a full refund. Avoid this dealer if you’re looking for quality service and integrity in your purchase.

BEWARE - GENERAL RV FINANCE NIGHTMARE

BEWARE! GENERAL RV IS A LIVING NIGHTMARE! If I could give negative stars, I would.

Where do I begin with General RV’s finance team? This was less a “process” and more like a punishment for daring to believe we’d actually purchased an RV. From start to finish, the communication was so non-existent, I wondered if they had ghosted me – or maybe that would have been better, actually. We closed our loan through MyFyUSA smoothly enough, but trying to get General RV’s finance team to handle their end was like trying to start a fire in a rainstorm with wet socks: frustrating, pointless, and way harder than it needed to be.

Every question was met with evasive answers or outright silence, every follow-up was shrugged off like we were asking for the moon. And if you think you’ll get any updates without relentlessly hounding them? Think again. They’re the masters of leaving customers in the dark, which I can only assume is a strategy to make you forget you even bought an RV in the first place.

This experience wasn’t just inconvenient – it was infuriating, exhausting, and downright insulting. General RV’s finance team should take some basic training on communication, organization, and, I don’t know, maybe a hint of respect for their customers. If you want a hassle-free experience, go literally anywhere else.

I’m giving the individuals we worked with a courtesy they DO NOT DESERVE by leaving their names out of this review, but for what it is worth, they should not have jobs as financiers especially considering me - the individual asking for the loan - had to define what a co-signer was to the financier which is proof that they don’t know how to do their jobs. If it were not for My Financing USA being our saving grace, we would have been screwed over and overpaid by $20,000 dollars. Trust the reviews. They are there for a reason.

Be very careful with this location and…

Be very careful with this location and management team. I signed documents that in hindsight, I never should have. They have you sign a document that basically gives them complete rights to withhold your deposit. They also have you sign a document that makes you liable for the unit (meaning you need insurance as soon as you walk out of the dealer and even before taking ownership) and "agree to store it at their location until delivery". This is prior to financing or any additional paperwork being done. I've bought RVs from other local dealers and NEVER had an experience like this. I am now out $2,000 because General RV couldn't deliver the RV, initially offered me my deposit back but then back out of it. Here's how it unfolded for me. Consider yourself warned.

General RV sold a unit and agree to a delivery date of October 9, 2024 with outstanding recalls which initially was communicated would "stop sale". The recall which was announced by Winnebago and covered in the national news on August 16, 2024. A total of 46 days passed from the time the recall was announced and the date of our agreement on October 2, 2024. Following our agreement, General RV had not contacted me until October 7, 2024 to inform me of the "national stop sale recall that just came across Mike's desk". This was another delay of several days.

A series of conversations were had between 12pm and 2pm on October 7th.

12:11pm - Mike left a VM which I can provide, stating there was a problem with delivery due to a national stop sale recall he just found out about.

12:13pm - I returned Mike's call, completely understanding of the situation. However, Mike did emphasize he didn't know when Winnebago would have a fix and when delivery could happen. I specifically asked, if given this news I could cancel the deal and receive my deposit back. He responded with absolutely, we wouldn't hold you to a sale given the circumstances. I said I would speak with my wife and call him back .

12:24pm - I called and tried to reach Mike and he wasn't available. Left message.

1:29pm - After not getting a call back I tried Mike again. This time reaching him. I informed him of the decision to cancel the sale and he was understanding. After though, I told him in transparency I knew the recall was not new and that other dealers were already fixing theirs. He was unaware of this. The call ended with Mike confirming with me he would contact his team to initiate the refund of our deposit.

1:53pm - Mike calls me saying he has great news, that he did get in touch with Winnebago and they magically have a fix now that can happen in two days time allowing for delivery on Wednesday. I reminded him of our last conversation and he said they were still holding me to the sale. He quickly forgot about the conversation we had and how the 1:29pm call had ended.

While the timeline above is very condensed it by no means justifies how General RV is handling the situation. Not to mention the lack of trust that was created. In short, an agreement of sale was made with a more than one month old recall that should have been flagged and accounted avoiding the situation that happened yesterday. My family had made significant changes to our plans after the 1:29pm call, in the short amount of time we will now incur additional costs as a result. All of this could have been avoided if General RV made a better effort.

They could certainly refund it. However, they are choosing not to because it's the type of business they are. Search Facebook and Reddit. I didn't do my homework and it cost me. I did not simply back out of the sale. It's a lot more complex per the information above.

If my lost deposit helps other consumers take another look at what they are signing then I am okay with that. Best of luck General RV.

Should be a “0”

Should be a “0”. Internet sale in which they used the bait and switch technique by advertising one unit with one VIN number, and then tried to sell me a different one. Kept my $8,500 deposit which is “non-refundable” and I have no merchandise. This was a plain fraud deal, and after that I do not want to do business with such a company. I was the foolish one really, and my Discover card never refunded me the money after I filed the dispute so shame on them too. Buyer beware!

I wish I could leave a “0” rating

I wish I could leave a “0” rating! We drove 8+ hours to deal with this location and put a deposit on a motorhome before we left. Although our sales consultant was great, the motorhome was “sold” by another salesperson due to a cash offer on our sales consultants day off. We were never contacted until after the fact by the sales manager (Tom P.), who was rude and covering his tail since the fact that there was a contract on the unit already. No chance we would ever buy from General RV, or recommend them to anyone else. We have called the General RV corporate office and also, since we have followed Matt from Matt’s RV Reviews for quite some time and took the trek to General RV in Ocala because of his videos, we tried to contact Matt back, as we spoke to him by phone on the day of contract signing. We have not heard back from anyone. Funny thing is, when the cash deal fell through, they had the nerve to call to see if we were still interested. Find a local family RV dealership to deal with and stay away from the likes of General, and other dealership chains, they are all the same, promises, promises, promises, with no true ethics in the sales realm.

This company sells garbage and doesn't stand behind it. Purchased a 2023 Wildwood Platinum and had issues from the beginning, rock panels separating from the walls due to sealant not put on properly. Roof leaks, saw dust in vents...etc.
These guys are worse than used car salesmen, stay clear of the Wixon business for sure!

Need a screen fixed $225.00 to look at it. Fridge falling out of the wall $225.00 to look at it. Then they will let you know if it’s covered

Unreasonable extended warranty pressure tactics. Absolutely degrading and disrespectful.

Absolutely horrible! To have such a pleasant experience
with inquiring to purchase and delivery. Then end it with a over the top scare tactics extended warranty sales pitch. To tell us that we are getting hosed and there's nothing we can do about it. That everyone in the industry does this etc. absolutely horrible. Ruined the experience entirely. Just to squeeze more money out of you.

I recently purchased a Momentum 30G from General RV in Draper Utah. Blake K did an outstanding job sharing information and suggestions. Gary Innis showed me the ins and outs of my new trailer and he was outstanding to say the least. Gary knew what he was talking about and took all the time I needed to make sure all of my questions were answered. Highly recommend Gary to your customers. Troy did a very nice job explaining the financing side of my purchase and help me with all of the questions I had. I own my own business and I know quality people when I see them. I have purchased several trailers in my lifetime and this by far as been my best experience. Nice job General RV and staff.

One star is one star to much

One star is one star to much, did I ever get ripped off after buying my fifth wheel I was given a parcel walk through then taken away to sign papers they rush you out real fast, lunch time your on your own, 14 items the dealer ignored. Called service no one calls you back no one responds to your emails, not crying the blues but I’m a disabled veteran I have a heart condition that cannot be fixed due to the viet nam war I can’t do my own repairs my self, in closing I trusted forest river and general RV my mistake.

General RV Ocala

We researched used and new 5th wheels. We found a 2 year new late model at General RV Ocala end of Nov 2023. Drove 3 hours to look at it. Basically, nice unit--fit us just right--but lots of manufacturing really, "shoddy work" by Keystone/Dutchman. The sales guy was OK; no pressure. Sales management team was pleasant. We agreed to purchase if defects were addressed. Then I did extensive research on General's reviews at this location; some were great, some terrible. We returned two weeks later finalize the deal and to pick it up, but the work was not completed to our satisfaction. We then did a detailed inspection and made a list with their team. Derek Crisp promised to get all issues taken care of. NOTE: I am VERY familiar with RV manufacturing industry, recently in Elkhart visiting many RV manufacturers on business trip. Supply chain/parts and workmanship with SOME of the mass manufacturers is poor to barely acceptable. From December to March General RV team kept us posted, many parts were not readily available (common problem). We wanted it "right" not "fast" and expressed our patience. Unit arrived end of March delivered to us 3 hours away; their offer to deliver. General RV team did an excellent job of correcting some really bad (completely unfinished) manufacturing work. Price was exceptional and we are happy with the unit. I will be burning up the phone with Keystone on warranty extension for a unit I paid for but could not use for 5 months and discuss quality of workmanship. The vast majority of these issues was not under the control of General RV and are common problems in the current RV industry. Be reasonable but be educated and know where the problems are.

I would give zero stars if it was possible ,General RV Ocala has had my unit for over five months and have made every excuse known to man why it’s not done. Several times now they have told me all the warranty work was done, when I go and look at the unit nothing has been done. I have reached out to customercare generalrv.com and also Keystone the manufacturer, and still nothing has been done. Garry Martin and Shane Riley can not tell the truth!

-10 stars

-10 stars - DO NOT BUY FROM THEM OR TAKE IT THERE FOR SERVICE ---- TERRIBLE......their staff doesn't know anything about RV's, their service advisors are paper pushers that are anything from "service-oriented" and they never complete the work fully. We bought a new unit in October 2022 -- I have been back SO many times for them to "document" issues and then "submit for warranty work" and then finally to "get it fixed"......they are so disorganized and literally the management folks hide when customers come in the door and have a complaint. THOR and other brands should be ashamed to even have their name on their brands. And not just me....as I sit around for hours waiting for 10-minutes fixes to be made I talk to the other customers waiting -- everyone has had the same experience since the day they opened. they have now held my RV hostage waiting to get it "in-bay" for the last 14 weeks......Terrible.....just Terrible.....no return calls, no return emails, new services advisors every few weeks....BEWARE !!!!!

Bought $200,000 Super C from Gen RV of…

Bought $200,000 Super C from Gen RV of Ocala in August 2023. It is now January 2024 and we have not had a single day of usage. All these reviews are too kind. This company is sick from the top down with no moral compass. You must be a great liar to even work there. One time they kept the RV for 40 days to do 3 hours of work (none required parts). 1 hour was to change two fuses.

At some point, this company needs to be denied RV's to sale from manufactuers. Gen RV is greatly harming all makers of RV's. Please avoid Gen RV's poison.

Purchased a 400k Diesel pusher from the Utah online department. Very helpful staff from the start to the end. They picked me up from the Airport without me having to take an Uber. They did give me the option to call me an uber and they would reimburse me.
The walk thru on my motorhome was very informative and they did it on my terms not rushing me. Hafin in the Finance department beat my local credit unions rate plus made it easy to close.
I guess they sell 2000 RV's a year per the sales manager, so I expected to be rushed thru the process so they can push people thru however it was the opposite! Very easy good process. I wanted to write this review because the happy people never do.

Buyer Beware

Buyer beware I bought a new fifth wheel in Dec. 2021 and general rv installed a 3rd ac in the garage of the fifth wheel , 2 1/2 years later and my roof by the a/c they install had soft spots. Did not have anything or anywhere else on my roof that had any issue. Went to General rv and spoke to Chris Dietrich about my issue. He refused any help because I had it fixed by an outside source because everyone I talked to said don't take it there for repairs because of the poor reviews and service. Even the service mgr. with Grand Design recommended Campers World ilo General Rv Orange Park. I didn't ask him to pay for the complete repair but to just participate in the cost because of there poor installation which caused a premature failure on my roof. I would say there are better dealers out there that would take responsibility for their poor workmanship. Do your homework because apparently, I did not. Second rate dealer in my opinion.

Minus 100 is more accurate

Minus 100 is more accurate! From the day we purchased it we have been lied to! We waited 7 hours for delivery which never came so we had to get a hotel room! When we did get it 11/20/22 we noticed our sink wasn’t glued to the counter we had to put boards under it so it didn’t fall completely off! We called for an appointment had to wait until 1/26/23. Were told parts were ordered, new counter & sink but 6 months later they were still saying they weren’t in! Then we’re told oh sorry they weren’t ordered. Now there’s water damage to sink base and the counter is swollen! Then in May we discovered our roof was rotten when we were having routine maintenance done on the A/Cs! We came in to talk about getting it in for repairs and our service advisor told us to put a branch through it and claim it on our insurance it’d be easier!!! Telling us to commit insurance fraud! I lost it and called corporate. We dropped it off 8/1/23 we had a list of 22 items that were broken or missing all under warranty. One job has been done but nothing else has been. They are trying to pass the old sink and countertop off as fixed and they just siliconed the swollen area! I hired a lawyer! I’m so sick of the lies and run around & the horrible people! Do not buy from here! Run away!!!!!
