Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 69 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the pricing, finding that the final cost was significantly higher than initially advertised due to hidden fees and taxes. The booking process was also a major source of frustration, as customers often believed they were booking directly with the hotel but were instead redirected to a third-party site. Reviewers frequently reported issues with the website's misleading design, which mimicked official hotel sites, leading to confusion and unexpected charges. The payment process was criticized for including undisclosed service fees and currency conversions. Furthermore, many people were unhappy with the cancellation policies, which often resulted in losing the full booking amount or incurring additional charges, even when attempting to cancel immediately.

BEWARE OF HIDDEN T&Cs

BEWARE OF HIDDEN T&Cs - We erroneously booked via GetaRoom after mistakenly selecting a link online as it was a Sponsored Link on Google. This is clearly a way of getting customers to think this is the official site of Sofitel prior to directing you to a US based server. We were charged in USD and an overseas exchange penalty. Lesson learned.

“Deceptive Booking Site – Overcharged and No Hotel Reservation!”

Warning: Avoid Getaroom.com
Just got scammed by Getaroom.com—booked what I thought was a Hilton hotel directly, only to find the hotel had no record of my stay. I was overcharged by $300, and there’s no real customer service, only bots. I had to cancel my credit card and file a dispute. The site masquerades as the real hotel website. Please be careful and only book directly or through trusted platforms like Booking.com or Expedia. After much investigation and contact with the hotel, I finally received a confirmed booking. REVISION Althoug this site came through in the end with the actual booking, I feel the site was deceptive by masquerading as the hotel website. Plus the extra charges which are almost equivalent to one night's charge were not mentioned until after payment and this is deceptive. I will never use this platform again.

Anatomy of a PRICELINE Scam

Booked a room at the Marriott SLC University Hotel for a September wedding on February 25, 2025, through the Marriott website. Only to immediately cancel the reservation after realizing it was a fraudulent site. Researched that “Website cloning is a method where cyber criminals create nearly identical websites to mirror original ones out of malicious motives.” Found many names for the website. Hotelvalues.com, GuestReservations.com, and GetARoom. They all point to PRICELINE, which claims them as “travel partners.” PRICELINE booked the reservation with the hotel, and PRICELINE holds the money.
Talked with corporate Marriot rep who emailed me confirmation of the SCAM reservation, including the reservation number and details, PLUS, the following disclaimer:
Rate Rules:
Cancelling Your Reservation
You may cancel your reservation for no charge before 11:59 PM local hotel time on 2025-02-26. After this time, please note that your prepayment for this special rate is non-refundable.
(SEE EXHIBIT D)
The cancellation was within 10 minutes of making the reservation on 2025-02-25.
Discussed the scam with Marriott SLC Front Desk and was coached to call PRICELINE, to request reservation cancellation. Then, the Priceline rep is to call the Marriott to get validation that Marriott waived the cancellation fee. Got as high as a supervisor, who refused to comply with the hotel’s request and instructed me to contact GetARoom (this was the first time I heard of this company). Supervisor stated that I was “not supposed to call PRICELINE, because I booked through a third-party site.” When I countered that the site was a scam, he replied “there is a reservation, so it is not a scam.”
Finally, in the dispute with my credit card company, which PRICELINE provided states:
“The reservation was made online through our website by the cardholder and all information was
entered by the cardholder including check in/check out dates, hotel name, location, city, state,
country, room types, number of persons booked, charges.” Are they claiming ownership to the malicious websites?
BTW my credit card company did not dispute the charges. I will be refiling a credit card claim with updated information. Plus, posting to multiple sites, and contacting EVERY player with the details.

Like everyone else

Like everyone else, I got duped, thinking that I was booking a room direct with the hotel. They advertised £103 for the hotel, with free cancellation. As soon as I entered my card details, I received an email informing me that they had charged me £169.58 and that nor refunds were allowable. I immediately cancelled and requested a full refund. Multiple emails from the company, about no refunds. They also told me that they had contacted the hotel direct who refused to refund my booking. Total bullshit. I went back to their site and took screen shots of the "free cancellation" and emailed them. I also raised a merchant dispute with my bank. I had to persevere, but in the end they told me that they would provide me a full refund, in the interest of good customer relations! I then received another email telling me that in the event of a bank dispute, their offer would be null & void! I finally received a full refund today. My advice is do the same and don't give up. They should be closed down.

Hotel indigo in York . Don’t trust IHG .

Tried to book hotel indigo in York but the booking didn’t seem to go through . I assumed it hadn’t , I booked elsewhere . It was only when my credit card bill came that I realised I had paid. After contacting the hotel who redirected me to IHG who redirected me to Priceline who redirected me to Get a Room. It turned out the confirmation had gone to my spam . They were not understanding and would t give me a refund . I think if hotel indigo wants to keep their reputation they should not use disreputable companies for their bookings . I received no messages which would be normal from a reputable hotel such as ‘upgrade for x amount’ or sign in early with you digital key’ that may have made me aware that I had made the booking.

SCAM

On the phone with this company as I type. Booked last night, April 5th, for a December 2025 room. Saw the "fees" were almost the cost of the room! On the phone for over an hour going in circles with this company...Getaroom.com..they are saying their "partner" is the one holding my funds since I paid in full at the time of reservation. They can't refund me without getting approval from their "partner". They said I need to wait 24-48 hours, up to 7 business days for a confirmation from their "partner" before they are allowed to refund me. I called the hotel directly and they are not "the partner." They do not have even a deposit let alone a full payment from me. Getaroom wont let me call their "partner" directly or provide the name of who my funds have actually gone to. When booking on line, I went through the hotels website. I'm used to booking rooms and know how the internet will re direct you to travel.com or expedia.com so I'm very cautious when reserving. Somehow I was still re directed to this company and did not, at any time, see it wasn't the hotel directly. My suspicions were only raised when I booked and then saw the fees. After escalating the complaint from the first agent I spoke with to the Supervisor, I was still given the run around by the Supervisor. I called my bank while on the phone call with Getaroom and filed a dispute on the charges.
I told Getaroom in no world would I let this phone call be completed without full resolution. I'm reading all the complaints on line while I'm on a forever hold. I see this company says "We need to wait for refund approval from our partner," just to find the customer only gets partial refund! I'm not accepting their "we will give you a 20% discount." That doesn't even cover all the fees! On the phone now for 1 hour and 58 minutes. Resolved. Needed Getaroom to contact their partner, who contacted the hotel by email. I called the hotel on the other phone and they responded to the email that the room is canceled and no fees for cancelation. Getaroom called their partner, advised the hotel responded to their email and got approval from the partner a full refund would be issued. Please people, go this route if you get scammed into Getaroom! Save yourself the argument with the agents and just start with "contact your partner and I will wait until they email the hotel." And go from there! Ended up booking two nights, directly with the hotel, for the price of one night +fees with Getaroom.

be very careful

my mother in law booked a room at the Marriott Court Yard in Newcastle under Lyme and thought she was dealing direct with them *** WRONG ** she was dealing with Priceline / Getaroom they misled her into thinking it was the hotel reservations
i called priceline 01344207824 to cancel the booking when asked for the last 4 digits of the card used they said it was incorrect and could not cancel it without the correct 4 digits ( the digits were correct ) just another way to stop you from cancelling your room so they could not cancel it, after much arguing they agreed to cancel it ... on checking today they had not ! called back and was told you must speak to " our partners " getaroom and gave me another number which was in the USA they eventually transferred me to a person at getaroom who said if i did not cancel they would give me a 20% discount which i refused eventually they did cancel the reservation my mother in law is 86 but people need to watch out for these people

Illegal service that pretends to be the oficial site of the hotel

The oficial site of the hotel, led me to the payment site, that, despite using the same logo as the hotel does correspond with getaroom.com priceline, and they have charged 137 euros of fee because of their Booking service, that seems consists on a virtual credit card to Transfer part of the money to the hotel, while they retain other. Once I saw the whole amount of money of the reservation for two nights, even though I did not authorized It, and I did not send any verificación Code, the payment was done. I have cancelled the reservation two hours later, and they have kept 420 euros. An oficial civil request on Court must be send to this service

Absolutely crap

Absolutely crap. I select a Saturday night. Input all details and they book me Sunday night. I have lodged a complaint directly with the hotel to never deal with this firm.

When you ask for a refund they just leave you on hold. Disgusting scammers.

I’ve just got to the hotel and you have cancelled the booking for the correct night and have kept the money for this too. Utterly disgusting

I wan’t a solution right now

Two days ago, getaroom scammed me with no possibility of resolving the issue. I demand that this website cancel my booking and immediately refund my money.

I am preparing an official complaint through my bank in Switzerland because they charged me a different amount than what was agreed on the website, without me even entering the verification code sent by my bank. I did NOT provide the code, yet they proceeded with the payment. Unbelievable.

This has never happened to me before.

I was supposed to pay **165 euros**, but they charged me **273.27 USD**.

**THIS WILL NOT STAND**, and I want my refund **this week** before my stay at the hotel next week.

I thought I was on the hotel's official website, but it’s a scam since they imitate the hotel's interface.

They operate dishonestly, with no transparency, and hide nasty extra charges in the fine print, **doubling** the cost.

I demand an **immediate solution** for this booking.

**R5552953304.**
With code reservation 4630110188

**Shameless scammers!

I will take legal action if you do not provide a solution within two days.

Not sure how or why this damned site is…

Not sure how or why this damned site is still up. Went to book a Hyatt for 2 nights and the site looked exactly like a Hyatt site. Put my information in and two nights were $1444 which seemed ridiculous.

I went to check the email receipt and never received one. Assuming it was through Hyatt, I called them. They had a confirmation # for me but said they couldn't sent a receipt because it had been booked through Priceline. Having not visited that site I called them. No record of me booking anything.

I called Hyatt back 2 days later. They told me the reservation had been canceled. So $1444 for a canceled reservation has been charged. I looked at my credit card bill and noticed the merchant phone number (billing statement said Hyatt). Google searched the number and it goes to this garbage Getaroom site that tells you to contact the hotel directly. The same hotel that told me the reservation was canceled. Reported to my credit card as fraud, posted on BBB and now here. How the hell is this place still in operation?

Avoid at all costs – refuses to issue a proper invoice

Title: Avoid at all costs – refuses to issue a proper invoice

I booked a hotel through GetaRoom and paid €462.13. Since the moment of payment, I have repeatedly requested a proper tax invoice in PDF format, which I need to submit to my company for reimbursement.

They have refused to provide it, claiming they are unable to generate a PDF. Instead, they send a generic online itinerary with no legal or fiscal value. The hotel confirmed they can't issue the invoice either because the payment was made to GetaRoom.

Customer service is non-existent: they only reply with automated messages and ignore the actual issue. I filed complaints with the BBB and the FTC, and now I’m being forced to request a chargeback through my bank.

This company is clearly not acting in good faith, and I'm not the only one — dozens of reviews show the same pattern: no invoice, no support, no solution.

Avoid this company. Book directly with hotels or through a serious platform that respects consumers.

One room for the price of three (!). Dishonest vendor (imo).

They double charged me for a room I had already booked with a different third party the day before (no more third party booking for me any longer)---to the tune of $1600. I've never even heard of them and it took me over a month to figure out who "they" were, as they were cloaked in secrecy on any invoicing. I disputed it with my credit card company and filed a BBB complaint, and after two months, I got a refund. They claimed to have sent me dated and time stamped confirmation emails the day after my legitimate booking date, but they did not. I suspect if they had and I had missed those, I would have been out $1600. Double check your bookings and credit card statements to make sure you're not being charged for rooms you didn't book.

***COMPLETE SCAM - AVOID AT ALL COSTS***

Take care - they masquerade as the hotel's own website even using their graphics. I cannot believe that they are still allowed to operate online - there are numerous reviews reporting what they do. Based in the USA. The payment was taken WITHOUT authorisation.
You will receive an impressive looking confirmation from 'hotel values.com'.
YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING AS NOTHING GETS BOOKED 🤬

SCAM Phishing pretend

Earlier this week when Google searching for Embassy Suites Hotel, the Google Sponsored link embassysuiteshotel.guestreservations.com above appeared near the top of the search results page. Upon clicking it shows copies of the real pictures from the official hotel site with similar look and feel. I accidentally booked incorrect dates, and within 2 hours I called customer service to make the correction. To my surprise, unlike any other hotel reservation I've ever made, they refused to make a date change. So, I clicked the Cancel button on the reservation page, and then they cancelled the reservation AND charged me the full amount over $1,300 as the "cancellation fee". So now I have no room and no money. The reservation and cancellation pages were from getaroom
