Website needs some updates in terms of availability but the customer service team was super helpful! I chose 2 dresses, was using one and happy with my choice. The most important is the dresses were clean and tidy. Recommend

Me and my girlfriend had Murder mystery experience this Friday. I booked for her the dress and it was a surprise so the customer service helped me a lot! They advised the best dress and fit her just perfectly! We had a great time and I really appreciate their support and the dress was of a high standard! Super cool !

My designer, Luxury Dress arrived today for my 50th Birthday party tomorrow. Point to note, i'm highly allergic to dust, as soon as i opened the box and took out the bag, my breathing became laboured and I started to wheeze! I knew it was from the dress, as it smelt horrible and the dry cleaning label looked as if it had been used for many years, the illusion of a dress that had been dry cleaned. The dress was torn and tatty; suitable for the bin and not a birthday party! Thankfully I have a back up dress, had I not, I would be taking this shoddy company to small claims, instead I've asked for a full refund, watch this space, I'll be updating. If you decide to take a chance with this shocking company, make sure you have a back up outfit!!

dresses didn't show on time. Customer Services were rude. Haven't had a receipt or proof of purchase despite chasing 5 times. Terrible service would avoid.

The dress arrived on time and was dry cleaned which I really appreciated as I've had rented dresses in the past that have not been! While the dress was a bit on the small size and had a small hole on one of the arms, I was still able to wear it to my friend's mehndi and received a lot of compliments for it. My daughter wanted to rent a ball dress for her 21st, she is petite and has a large bust so we reached out to them for advice. Sent four emails - no response. Called twice and they promised to send some suggestions but never did. In the end we bought one.

Good concept, execution needs to be updated.

Outdated stock management system means that availability information is very poor. There are much better systems that would get this much closer to real-time. If this was upgraded so that it was clear which dresses were available, and the website was given a much-needed update, I would definitely try again!

After chatting with an on line advisor as I needed a dress delivered before my event as I was away on holiday and I needed it longer than 7 days, the advisor sorted this for me, she couldn't be more helpful nothing was too much trouble Chose my dresses one wasn't available for the hire time I was informed of this promptly and similar alternatives were suggested. Dresses arrived on pre arranged date. Absolutely fantastic quality. Unfortunately I was too short for both fishtails (my fault for not checking). Returned both dresses easily using pre paid label. Cost refunded 2 days later. Absolutely fantastic service can't wait till my next gown evening because girl meets dress will be getting my custom. Thank you.

Amazing service and a really special dress for a fraction of the price!
I ordered 2x dresses for a wedding and wore one. The team at Girl Meets Dress emailed me to give advice on one of the dresses (particularly underwear) which was so helpful as I knew what to expect and more importantly, what bra to pack!
I received lots of compliments on my dress - everyone seemed to know it was “special”.
Really easy returns process too. Will be recommending to friends and family!

In line with many reviews on here, I too have had a negative and unprofessional experience with Girl Meets Dress. I won’t outline it, as it’s so dull but instead which to summarise the reasons why you should not use this company, from my experience...

- The dress availability is not accurate on the website resulting in customers paying for dress hire of dresses they won’t actually receive. This is not acceptable with current technology capabilities and an alternative system by which money isn’t initially taken would be far more honest and professional. Added to this, there are many other clothing hire companies that seem to have an up to date and professional system
- Customer Service seemingly only reply to positive emails immediately but leave negative emails and phone calls unanswered for days
- It is clear that refunds or any rightful returned money (due to having not worn the dresses) is very difficult to come by and monies are withheld for far longer than is acceptable. Indeed Girl Meets Dress (from mine and many others’ experience) make quick contact in the lead to receiving your money, but go quiet and act dumb as soon as they have your money. So should you have any reason to cancel, make changes or require a refund your emails and phone calls will mysteriously not have been received.
- Suspiciously, most of the positive reviews on here are ‘invited’ whilst very few organic reviews are positive, which causes query surrounding the legitimacy of these reviews
- Myself and many other customer clearly feel this is somewhat of a ‘scam’. Should you feel you have been ‘scammed’ then do feel encouraged to report them to Action Fraud.

Following the response below, this highlights further the passive aggressive attitude of the company, their unwillingness to take ownership and their inability to apologise.

The theory is great, execution is poor and customer service is bizarre and immature. Fortunately there are now many places to rent clothes, so I would recommend going elsewhere as these alternative companies somehow manage to have up-to-date websites so what they promise, they deliver, and they respond to all contact from customers.

Finally, loving the query regarding the ‘authenticity’ of my review. Why would I leave a review if I haven’t tried to use the service, that’s just ridiculous. When I spoke to someone today and mentioned the reviews on Trustpilot they told me the negative ones were all ‘lies’ and there are a lot of ‘nasty’ people out there who just write ‘salacious gossip’. The girl also called me ‘mean’ for making a complaint, which has not been followed up. Very unprofessional and bizarre company.

Absolutely loved wearing my girl meets dress outhit for my wedding anniversary. After a year of the dreaded C word it was such a joy to receive the dresses in the post and to get glammed up. Thank you for great customer service and an awesome selection!

The positives are: the website is easy to use, the concept is a brilliant one, the “try before you buy” concept is great, and the dresses arrived on time.

Unfortunately, there are many negatives! When viewing the dresses and placing an order, it doesn’t guarantee that your dress is actually available! I selected 3 dresses as I couldn’t decide which one would look right. After they take took my payment, I then received an email the next day stating that 2 of the dresses were not available and I could select another 2, which I did. The dresses arrived but weren’t great quality (smelly, not well fitting, and some tears in the delicate fabric. I let this go, as my event was the next day and I needed a dress. I picked 1 to wear and left the other 2 in the box to return. The very next day, I made the trip to the post office and returned the dresses. After 10 days, I hadn’t heard anything from GMB, so wrote an email. They responded by asking me for proof of postage, lucky I kept the PO receipt! Was then told that they had indeed received the dress, but that their policy stated I would receive my refund within 14 working days of receipt of the items - it is now 4 weeks after they had received my items and still no refund to my account.

It is such a shame that they have such bad products and bad customer service because the business idea is great, they’re just not good at running an effective business because in this age of social media, excellent customer experience is critical!

Avoid at all costs.

Use this company at your own risk but go in with your eyes open. Read the other reviews below first. The dresses look lovely on the site but whoever I spoke to in customer service took a very ‘tough luck - we’ve been busy’ attitude to the fact they had not been responsive to my emails. I felt like an inconvenience in their otherwise busy day. I see I am not alone in my experience.
Also beware the companies who try to fire back at these reviews on TrustPilot and tell you you’re wrong rather than offering apologies for a bad experience. Says a lot about a company. Just buy yourself a nice outfit instead and sell it on Vinted or donate to Refashion.

Astoundingly poor customer service and I've told them with over 2 weeks notice that I no longer need the dresses - and have effectively been charged £69 for the privilege (in the form of a credit note which expires in 3 months and which I am never likely to use). Called up customer service thinking this was definitely a mistake (after all, I had only place my order last week, how was it anything other than straightforward to cancel it?) and spoke to Sarah who has such a condescending 'Computer Says No' attitude I would have laughed if it hadn't made me so cross.
Have pointed out that the Consumer Rights Act gives me the protection to be able to cancel an order of goods or services within a 14 day cooling off period and await their response.
The irony is that had I not cancelled, and instead waited for the dresses to arrive, and then immediately sent them back without wearing them, I would have been entitled to a full refund - but instead, cancelling within 4 weeks of the event causes the cost of the most expensive dress to be held and instead added as a credit note. To all those with orders to cancel - I say hold on, cause them the aggro of having to send them to you and not then having the stock for other customers, and get your full refund.
Absolutely farcical, and there is no way in Hell I would use them again.

The service provided by Girlemeetsdress was superb and exceeded my expectations. Not only did they provide me with an amazing dress for a wedding I was going to, but they helped me find the right one for me. I felt fabulous and it was so easy to use the service. Would give one star if possible.

Ordered 3 dresses - received two. Neither were the size I ordered.... One would be lucky if it was a size 10 (ordered a 14 as I'm a size 12) and the other was too small too. Now they're using their usual excuse that I didn't post them back in time.
I will be contacting Trading Standards and Watchdog as they are a sham of a company... Sending out goods that fall way short of the pics and descriptions on their website and then withholding money when dresses are returned. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

This is a real find and service. Try on three dresses in the comfort of your room, and choose and pay for the one you want. Delivered and picked up, so easy! Thank you, I will use again!
