I’ve had a great experience with cleaning from start to finish. The service was very professional, reliable, and well organised. Everything was handled smoothly, and the communication was excellent throughout the process.

A special thank you to Mary, who did an amazing job. She was very thorough, attentive to detail, and made sure every area was spotless. It’s clear that she takes pride in her work, and it really shows in the results. The place looked fresh, clean, and welcoming after she finished.

Two cancellations due to 'emergencies' in a row.

We booked a 3hr clean (our first with Gleam) but we received an email to say that the booking had to be cancelled because of an emergency for the cleaner.
Gleam asked to reschedule so I agreed but said we had a low tolerance for cancellations.
One hour before the cleaner was due arrive the following week, we received another cancellation message. The message was, word for word, exactly the same as the one we'd received the week before (saying that the booking that had been cancelled because of an emergency).
Emergencies happen. But two weeks in a row? With no contingencies? Not a serious company.

On this occasion the booked cleaner reported that they were unfortunately unable to attend at the time booked twice in a row. This client was extremely unlucky here and a manager has been in contact on the day to try to personally rebook the client but unfortunately they have decided to cancel their booking with us.

For the benefit of the reader; we always endeavour to ensure bookings go off without a hitch and we have stringent measures in place to ensure this. More than ninety five percent of clients and cleaners are happy with the outcomes we provide. From a customers' perspective when things have not worked out, in consultation with cleaners, we have developed the following top tip checklist which you should consider when booking to ensure everything goes well;
1. Book enough time, a cleaner can only do so much cleaning in a fixed period of time. If not enough time is booked your expectations of the results or the time for future bookings should be adjusted accordingly.
2. Provide the appropriate cleaning materials, this one is obvious. The most common issue is expecting your cleaner to be able to clean an oven without a proper oven cleaner, not going to happen.
3. The level of cleaning required and getting into a regular routine might mean, for recurring bookings, a gradual improvement while the first few cleans are carried out. For example a floor which hasn't been cleaned for two months will require far less effort when it's being cleaned every week vs the initial sessions while things are brought up to standard.
4. Your cleaner is working in a new place and your home is therefore a new place of work for this person. Make them feel welcome, if you're working at home get out of their way, and let them carry out the job they're so good at doing, no need to follow around or micro-manage. Providing a checklist can help though.
5. If you require a reliable and consistent service with the same cleaner, you should also be a reliable and consistent client; cancelling regularly, often changing times and days etc is likely to result in your cleaner requesting a client change which will result in reallocations to new cleaners more often.

I used Gleam for an end-of-tenancy…

I used Gleam for an end-of-tenancy clean and they exceeded all expectations. The property was in better condition than when I moved in. The oven looked brand new and every room was cleaned thoroughly from top to bottom. My landlord was extremely impressed and I had no issues getting my full deposit back. The booking process was easy, the cleaner Nebibe arrived on time, and worked incredibly hard. If you’re moving out and want a good job without being ripped off, I would recommend them.

Cleaner did not show up, Gleam did not help with replacement

The allocated cleaner did not show up and Gleam did not inform me in advance of the expected cancellation. There was no number to call so I had to fill in a form on Gleam's website and also email them to enquire about my cleaner's whereabouts. Half an hour after my booking was due to start, I received a call asking if the cleaner had arrived, which is when I explained the appointment was urgent and had been booked weeks in advance for a specific reason. I was then emailed nearly 40 minutes after my appointment was due to start and was told the cleaner would not be coming and that there was no availability for a replacement until the following week at the earliest.

As the cleaning was time-sensitive, I had to book a same-day replacement elsewhere at a higher price. I raised this with Gleam and asked them to cover the cost difference due to the loss I incurred as a result of their conduct, but they refused to offer a meaningful resolution. I would avoid gleam.cleaning and go with a more punctual and trustworthy provider, ideally one with better customer service.

This client was extremely unlucky here and a manager has been in contact on the day to try to personally rebook the client but unfortunately they have decided to cancel their booking with us. Regarding getting in touch by phone, although we do not have a direct phone line, we do have an instant online chat which can be accessed via your online booking on the website.

Very poor customer service and quality of cleans

Very poor customer service, response to queries and an unreliable service. I have had multiple cleaners fail to turn up, poor quality cleans and then I’m unable to cancel my bookings as no one in the customer services team respond to my multiple attempts to contact them. I don’t enjoy complaining but I feel this review needs to be written.

Recently moved to London from the…

Recently moved to London from the states and had an amazing housekeeper in New York so was worried about what I’d end up with with a new company.

I’m so happy I went with Gleam. I contacted the service team to tell them about my situation and they helped me to organize moving in cleaning as well as regular weekly cleaning combined with a quick walk of my Labradoodle. My housekeeper Alina is amazing and we have a really good working relationship. Delighted with the results.

Unprofessional, unreliable, sub standard

To start - I had to delete my previous review because Gleam posted my full name, email address, telephone number, borough and post code in their reply. Let this be an indication of the professionalism and care of this company.

I had previously used Gleam for over year now - from May 2024 (with a 6 month break from Jan 2025) and have been generally really disappointed with the quality of service.

These are the issues I've experienced:
1 - Being sent cleaners who are afraid of cats and dogs despite the fact that I was very clear that I have a dog (a 3kg miniature pinscher) and a cat.
2 - Inexperienced cleaners who have clearly never cleaned professionally. For example, the latest cleaner used descaling spray to clean the front of my kitchen cupboards and didn't know what things like Cif and polish were for until I explained.
3 - I was previously sent a cleaner who spent 1.5 hours cleaning my (very small) bathroom and was then rude to me when he explained he didn't have enough time to clean the rest of the house.
4 - I've been sent cleaners who cannot speak English therefore can't understand me when I explain what should be cleaned and how meaning the quality of the work is substandard.
5 - Cleaners not showing up and giving little to no notice with no compensation from Gleam: the latest cleaner has not shown up for the last 2 sessions. Most recently I wasn't informed until an hour before the clean was due to start and previously she called me the evening before a 10am clean and didn't inform Gleam so I had to contact them myself.

Gleam offered a free upgrade to their "premium service" which I can find no information of on their website - the "premium service" wasn't an option when I signed up and I've never seen or heard anything about this until now. This makes me question the validity of this - it sounds like a lie in an attempt to appease.

Apparently this "premium service" offers 'among the best, most experienced pool, a handpicked cleaner for future cleans' so I can only assume that what I've been paying for so far has not included experienced, hand picked cleaners which goes against the description on the website which says the service is 'unmatched on value, quality and customer satisfaction'. This is untrue - the value, quality and customer satisfaction I've received have been incredibly poor.

I'm sure there will be a response I set this to say it's 'under management review' & feel dubious about the number of positive reviews for Gleam given that another reviewer who had a poor experience mentioned being offered compensation to remove their poor review.

Would not recommend, look for another service that is actually valuable and reliable instead.

These are the bullying tactics Gleam has tried so far to get me to remove this review:
1- Threatened legal action
2 - Posted my personal information in replies 3 times (since removed as I reported them to TrustPilot and the ICO)
3 - Offered a refund of the £45 they have wrongfully charged as a cancellation fee despite having had more than 20 cleans with them
4 - Threatened legal action again

In response to their reply below:
You say I expected "deep cleaning" - I do not believe moving a washing basket to clear dust behind it constitutes deep cleaning
You said there was "a high level of soiling" despite me having fortnightly 3 hour cleans for over a year
You say cleaners complained yet never mentioned it in over a year?
You say I tried to "exploit low paid workers" yet they are paid by Gleam who take a cut of their salary. If they are exploited and low paid, that is your fault, not mine.

Finally, I'm incredibly suspicious of the number of positive reviews given my experience. I'd be very surprised if they are all genuine.

Take a look at Gleam's replies to negative reviews, e.g. they called one customer "unhinged". If that's how you talk to and about your customers on a public forum, your levels of customer service and professionalism speak more about you than my review ever could.

Dear Ms Taneha Doldan, We are sorry that after following up with you directly on this matter, we were unable to resolve this to your liking. NB. Taneha’s version of events is not quite what happened. After a number of cleans, we received various complaints from some of our highest rated cleaners about the unrealistic expectations of Taneha for standard cleaning, which were more along the lines of deep cleaning given the high level of soiling often found at the property. She was extremely rude to our team and made unrealistic demands of them, often in a very demeaning and degrading manner. Following a number of cleaner changes and further complaints from cleaners, Taneha then started to request free cleaning because of the changes. Having checked back with some of our most experienced cleaners who had cleaned for Taneha, they guessed she is just trying to get cheap cleans and exploit workers for her own advantage. We cannot believe Taneha's assertion that after such a 'poor service' she would stay with us for a year, this is not credible. We therefore made the decision to cancel Taneha’s account and cancel their booking. Following that she has written this review which contains a number of untruths. We'll always act in the interests of our team and where unfair treatment is proven, we will never hesitate to call that out and challenge it.

For the benefit of the reader; we always endeavour to ensure bookings go off without a hitch and we have stringent measures in place to ensure this. More than ninety five percent of clients and cleaners are happy with the outcomes we provide. From a customers' perspective when things have not worked out, in consultation with cleaners, we have developed the following top tip checklist which you should consider when booking to ensure everything goes well;
1. Book enough time, a cleaner can only do so much cleaning in a fixed period of time. If not enough time is booked your expectations of the results or the time for future bookings should be adjusted accordingly.
2. Provide the appropriate cleaning materials, this one is obvious. The most common issue is expecting your cleaner to be able to clean an oven without a proper oven cleaner, not going to happen.
3. The level of cleaning required and getting into a regular routine might mean, for recurring bookings, a gradual improvement while the first few cleans are carried out. For example a floor which hasn't been cleaned for two months will require far less effort when it's being cleaned every week vs the initial sessions while things are brought up to standard.
4. Your cleaner is working in a new place and your home is therefore a new place of work for this person. Make them feel welcome, if you're working at home get out of their way, and let them carry out the job they're so good at doing, no need to follow around or micro-manage. Providing a checklist can help though.
5. If you require a reliable and consistent service with the same cleaner, you should also be a reliable and consistent client; cancelling regularly, often changing times and days etc is likely to result in your cleaner requesting a client change which will result in reallocations to new cleaners more often.

I will update this review if my issues…

UPDATE - after a worrying start the cleaner worked hard and listened. It was funny when she brought my duvet cover downstairs with the duvet still in it and had laid the fresh duvet cover out on the bed but I showed her how to do it and now she knows. Excellent attention to detail, brilliant hoovering and dusting, she cleaned the blinds without being asked and I will be very happy to have her back. Thanks so much R you have been a huge help today.
I will update this review if my issues are resolved as I am a fair person. The work is guaranteed - the first clean was a disaster I have the photos - it just wasn’t done - I complained to gleam but all they have done is send a second cleaner (who I have had to pay for) who they say is highly rated and all cleaners have at least one year experience. Both cleaners walked up the stairs in their dirty outdoor shoes the one today holding her plastic shoe covers in her hand - what part of cleaning are you not understanding ? The highly rated cleaner hasn’t used a Henry Hoover before (all cleaners in my experience like Henry) hadn’t used a mop with integral spray so let’s see how your “highly rated” cleaner does. You clearly don’t give them even the most basic training. Oh yes and she asked where my brush was to clean ?? If she tries I will help her and she seems a nice lady but you clearly send inexperienced untrained cleaners and hope they will some-how “wing it” . If you can sort out the quality of the work the app and user experience is excellent (hence the stars) but not there is no point

I'd like to thank Chloe on Gleam's…

I'd like to thank Chloe on Gleam's customer service team after I recently messed up a booking. I made a booking for a one off clean but I did not get the cleaning products, I thought they were included but on checking back Gleam do mention this in a number of places on the booking journey and on emails, I just had not noticed that. Anyway, when my cleaner showed up and had no cleaning products, Chloe got in touch to let me know the cleaner was there with no products. But they offered to go to a local shop to pick up some cleaning products and charged me directly so the cleaning could go ahead. I did have to also pay extra for the cleaners time but that is fair enough as was my error. At least the cleaning got done before my parents came to visit, all down to Chloe who resolved a challenging situation. Thanks again.
