I contacted GHL to move my deceased mother's property from California to Maryland. In the beginning they were very attentive. They presented a very attentive and pleasant scenario, told me that they only used a select few licensed and bonded carriers, and would be with me every step of the way. I agreed to pay more for their services because of all the brokers I contacted they had the best rating on the US DOT FMCSA website with no complaints.
That was where the good service ended. After I paid the deposit, I got very little service. I had to constantly call them to determine if my scheduled pick up date was still happening and as it was, the pick up was a day late. I expected a regular moving company to show up with a truck. What showed up was a beat up used U-Haul box van. There were 2 guys, one of which spoke only Russian, and the other a little English. Right off the bat, they told me that the volume I was quoted, 300 cubic feet was not enough despite having very meticulously listed all the items we were shipping to GHL. He want me to pay, UP FRONT, for an additional 500 CuFt at $4.70 / CuFT, an additional $1175 in cash for the up front half of the cost, (the remaining 50% upon delivery). I jumped on the phone to GHL and they rudely told me that the volume quotation was based on a very inaccurate DOT website, and that it had only been an estimate and that I should have expected to incur 262% increase in cost. While on the phone, that guy left. About 2 hours later, another beat up truck shows up, with 2 more guys who managed to cram my mothers possessions into 450 CuFt, so it only cost me an additional $352, but then they tried to shake me down for the $350 transfer cost because they didn't bring the 18-wheeler. I refuse to pay that. By that time, GHL was not taking my calls on any phone number. That was May 21, 2021. Then my real problems began.
I had to wait until the end of July before I got my shipment. I called every few days, and most of the time GHL didn't answer, and when they did they either lied to me, saying the shipment was on the way, or that it would be delivered this week. I spent over $400 on a storage unit a month earlier than I needed to because they lied. Finally, sick of their lies, I contacted the FCMSA and filed a complaint only to find out that the FCMSA isn't about consumer protection, but only motor carrier safety, so NO HELP AT ALL. I tracked down the actual company that picked up my goods and started calling them every other day and was also lied to. They would say my shipment was being loaded today, or on the road but the truck broke down, or would be there on Saturday. They stories was always different, always conflicted with the previous one, and was always a lie.
I contacted the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services about the carrier only to find out that they had only applied for their license the day before they picked up my shipment and was neither licensed or bonded despite the assurances from GHL. I contacted the Florida Dept of Consumer affairs for help only to find out that they couldn't help and that even IF I got a judgement in a FL small claims court, I'd never collect for the same reason OJ Simpson never had to pay.
It wasn't until I called the FBI and filed a complaint about stolen property and then told the carrier, that I was suing them for Interstate Piracy that they finally got my shipment on a truck. But not a moving truck, just a common carrier whose guy was not at all careful. My goods were packed haphazardly and many items were damaged, but because of the length of time had passed since my original contract with GHL, I was unable to file a claim so I cannot get any help.
Bottom line is Global Home Logistics is NOT AT ALL set up to provide any services across the country. They took my money up front and then washed their hands of my shipment. They did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to assist me in getting my shipment delivered and often lied to me about the status. I spent thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of my own time. I would have been far better off renting a 1-way U-Haul and driving my inheritance across the country myself.
DO NOT USE this company unless you truly enjoy strife, anxiety, pain and heartbreak.
Late breaking news: The company in Los Angeles CA that GHL hired and who had only applied for a license to be a Household Goods mover in CA, was denied a license in October 2021, less than 5 months after they applied, thus proving that GHL lied to me when they said they only hired Licensed and Bonded carriers. This company was NEVER licensed, ever!

Absolutely terrible experience. Do NOT use this company by any means. They transfer your items from truck to truck, meaning your items will come back destroyed. I have a handful of items destroyed, shattered, and have graffiti on them. I hired them back in the very beginning of June and my items just arrived two days ago. They don’t contact you at all. It wasn’t until I contacted the better business buero that they all of a sudden got in contact with me about my belongings. They made me pay over $1,000(way over the quote price) when my items arrived along with over $700 and $800 beforehand. They were extremely late and went against their contract agreement. The head lady was extremely rude when I talked to her on the phone upon arrival. Stay away from this company and save yourself from a huge mess.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I would give them a zero if that was possible. I used this company for a cross-country move when I thought I could trust, David, their representative who had "20 years" in the business. What he didn't tell me:
1) They would sell my contract to a shady company who showed up hours late on the day of my move and, under duress, made me sign a different contract
2) Although assured by customer service @ Global Home that I could use my credit card to pay for all costs of the move (for fraud protection), they once again failed to inform me they wouldn't be moving me, so no, that wouldn't work.
3) My stuff would sit in storage for 6 weeks. I don't think any person in their right mind wants to PAY a moving company to put their things in storage. They want their stuff TRANSPORTED
4) There would be no accountability, tracking, or honesty about where my stuff was and when I would get it. David said "about 7 days". Well, it's been nearly 3 months now. My experience was, essentially you pay them money to make a call, set you up with unscrupulous movers, and then theywash their hands of it.

Again my contact was Harrison. I had no problem setting up delivery. They came videoed my household goods and told me I had more sq. footage than estimated. It was going to cost more. I said ok, it was only 250 sqft. more. I had to sign a new contract. This is where I discovered that they had subcontracted out my job to another moving company, even though I specifically asked Harrison if they were going to do that and was told no. I had to resign a 30 page contract over my phone. Needless to say, I found out at the time I called to set up delivery. Storage was $1.00 per sqft a month. Much more than I was initially quoted. Now I'm on the hook for an additional $3k. and don't get me started about the subcontractor company.

We are going on 10 days with no pick up. NEVER use these people.

Picked up in NJ on 5.31.21. Promised to be delivered in FL. 6.4.21. Today is 7.2.21, and nothing has been received!. Have called "dispatch" to many times to remember! "Your delivery will be "one day" next week. Next week came and went, with no delivery. David Mclaughlin 561.403.0953 called my wife numerous times, after he somehow found out we were looking for a moving company. After several no thank you's, we agreed to use global home logistics! WORSE DECISION WE EVER MADE. I COULD GO ON AN ON ABOUT THIS SCAM COMPANY. BOTTOM LINE: DO NO USE THEM!! THEY WORK IN CONJUNCTION WITH OTHER "MOVING COMPANIES ". A COMPANY CALLED LIBERTY MOVING COMPANY OR CLOSE TO THAT FROM JERSEY CITY WE WERE TOLD PICKED UP ALL OF OUR BELONGINGS TO SHIP TO FL, INCLUDING FAMILY BIBLES, PRECIOUS OLD FAMILY PHOTOS, FAMILY HEIRLOOMS, PLUS ALL OF OUR CLOTHING, AND THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF OUR APARTMENT. NO ONE HAS RETURNED OUR PHONE CALLS, AND HAVE DECIDED THIS IS A INTERSTATE ROBBERY RING, AND TO PURSUE OTHER AVENUES, COMING TO THE REALIZATION WE WERE ROBBED, AND ARE NEVER GOING TO SEE ANYTHING THAT "WAS SHIPPED " AGAIN. ...........PLEASE DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE.....THEY WILL SWEET TALK YOU, BUT IN THE END, LIKE US, YOU END UP LOSING ALL OF YOUR BELONGINGS, PRECIOUS FAMILY BIBLES, ETC , AND THOUSAND OF DOLLARS. AGAIN TODAY IS JULY 2ND, OUR BELONGINGS WERE PICKED UP IN NJ 5.31 WITH THE PROMISE OF A JUNE 4TH DELIVERY IN FL. WE ARE STILL WAITING. My daughter contacted this Company, for a move from Michigan to Texas. It was scheduled, and I paid the deposit. They were to call the day before to give her the time for the next day. They never called. The morning of the move, I contacted the dispatch, and talked to a woman named Tina. She apologized that they were not called. She gave me a time they would arrive that day between 3 and 5 p.m. She also told me she would reach out to the driver and have them call my daughter to confirm the time. Again, she RECEIVED NO CALL FROM ANYONE. When she contacted the company again, the recording said "we are closed". NO WAY TO CONTACT ANYONE. My son in law finally reached the salesperson who took care of this, who's name was Harrison Fine. He hung up on my son-in-law and blocked his number. When my son-in-law called from another person's phone, Harrison again hung up on him and blocked that number too. Then a woman called my daughter, from a NUMBER UNAVAILABLE, to tell her the truck was 100 miles away. Of course NO TRUCK EVER ARRIVED. We were able to reach NO ONE AT THIS SUPPOSED MOVING COMPANY. Five o'clock came and went and no one ever showed or called my daughter. She and her sister had to rent a UHaul, and get friends to pack the truck, as they had sold their house and had to be out the next day. I called my credit card and disputed the $1149.00 deposit I paid. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY. READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU EVER CONSIDER THIS COMPANY. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! 5 star reviews are OBVIOUSLY PAID FOR! TOTAL SCAMMERS, BUT I GOT MY MONEY BACK!!

This company is a scam. We contracted them to move us from Kentucky to Florida. Harrison Fine the initial rep who set the price and date became a ghost after the initial deposit. The staff was rude, dispatch was rude and lied over and over that the movers were being delayed. Finally I fired them and currently are processing my refund. I urge you to think before using these unprofessional people. I learned they aren’t even BBB accredited.

Mike and his crew went above and beyond to me and to make the move easy for me. Very fast and efficient. Arrived on time. No surprises at all. I would use them again and recommend to others. It's the best money you will ever spend. They were also the most reasonably priced out of all the companies I researched.

I’m in the process of using these folks, and so far there has been no communication with me about my things. I scheduled the move for yesterday, with a backup day of today. I called yesterday to ask about when I could expect to see movers, and they told me they had to use the backup date, and someone from dispatch would call me in the evening to tell me when to expect the movers. Never got that call, so I called in the morning today and was told someone would be by between 5-7pm tonight, and the driver would call me an hour before they showed. By 730pm, after hearing nothing from anyone, I started to get the feeling things might not be quite right. I tried to call, but their offices were closed for the night, so I left a message. I’m currently in the dark about if/when I can expect to see anyone to move my stuff, and I need to hit the road to attend a wedding. Reading some of the reviews on here makes me nervous...
The sales dude was funny though. That’s why 2 stars. And because this can still be saved if I can get it worked out in the morning.
But I’m not hopeful and kinda wigging out due to lack of communication on their end. I hope I can come edit this review after it’s all said and done, but so far my experience has not been one I’d recommend to others.

Zero Stars. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They will take your money and your things and give a lot of empty promises. I promise all five star reviews are paid for by the company. Check the BBB, especially on the company they will hire to actually move your things (into storage for an indeterminate amount of time)...S&M RELO, LLC. Over 80 complaints about them. Do your research, don't read these purchased five star reviews. This company is THE WORST!!!

I would not even leave 1 star for this company! SAVE YOUR MONEY! You will pay upwards to $1,500.00 for them to make a phone call to a moving company! You can make that call a lot cheaper! They say that you can call anytime, you will bot be able to reach anyone once they have their money! This is a SCAM!

These guys are quick, courteous and understanding. Generally, it was very pleasant to work with and got the job done in no time on a 5-hour notice. It was the same day move with no hassles. I would recommend them to anyone who needs to move and will call again when I move out of this new place.

I found these guys on Google and after cost comparing over 7 other moving companies, they offered by far the best price. They responded to my inquiry about getting a quote via email very quickly and were very clear about how they charge. They booked my move and make sure to provide me with all the comfort.

FRUSTRATED and DISAPPOINTED!!! We will not hire you again. Your supposed to pick our items on time but 2 days had passed and still you haven't done anything. You don't even update your customer of what is going on. You're just waiting for us to call you and what you do is giving empty promises every time.

For me, the best compliment I can give a moving company is that they were easy. Their price was predictable, with the limited parking. The most important, that they were punctual. They were continuously helping us out and doing and moving stuff in and out with a smile on their face and no fuss.

Good staff interaction when I called for a reservation. They treated me so well. This moving company and members of the team were sweet, strong and very helpful! I would suggest to them to my friends and family about this moving company!

The movers worked hard and treated my furniture respectfully and followed all my instructions. The final price never changed and I’m very satisfied with the work that was done. The entire experience was pleasant and I would definitely work with you again in the future.

The Team showed up exactly on time and made a painful move an easy one. They were both professional and very helpful. I was charged exactly what I was quoted. Not a single penny was charged later. I will absolutely use them again for my next move.
