I wish I could give this 0 stars, this thing is used by my district man, they block gamesites after gamesites, until there is basically nothing left to do but do schoolwork or read during free time man

buns absolutely buns. Like I'm not one of those kids who hate goguardian cuz I don't want to do my work I do my work but sometimes it blocks me from my work and isn't the whole point of goguardian to make you do you're work? anyway lets get to the more problematic part this biggest issue with this thing is that it does not work for anything like come on let me go to websites in my classes without having to go back to my class (yes I am in a charter school). AND to add to that its a privacy invasion.

well lets get back to the main point. Why is gogaurdian taking my posts down well because they want to "fix" their reputation and how it that? by taking down their 1 star reviews just pitiful. Also I would rate gogaurdian 0.5 stars if I could.

this has been happening since the beginning of the school year and mutable of my friends have had there Chromebook locked down over and over again i've been spied on even when my teacher was sick i fell spied on 24/7 in that classroom i am so lucky to have one teacher that doesn't use this app but they still had to sign in i've never felt this unsafe in a place were i'm supposed to fell safe.

My school would block dum stuff like someone's scratch project, and Spotify too. sometimes when I am looking for stuff like a project or a question. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS. IT'S SPYWARE!!!!!!!!!!!

This app is IDENTICAL to spyware, it does EXACTLY what many viruses do, except it is disguised as a tool to "keep students studious"

Its crazy how a cheap $450–$750 macbook can run better then my school chrome book if schools get so much funding why can't they purchase better laptops. why add spyware for what to keep students in check like its 1984 dystopia ?

Dear Goguardian. Who do you think I am? I am a Freshman in Highschool, an independent person, and you treat me as if I am an animal in a circus to be watched and monitored without my consent. The very IDEA that you had the capability to use my very webcam against me is obscene, and this blatant invasion of privacy is being used in thousands and thousands of schools across America. How can we be considered a land based upon freedom when the youth is being watched 24/7?

Me personally? When I moved to a school that used GoGaurdian, I didn’t really care. “They can see what I do on my Chromebook? Fine, not my problem.”
Now? I’m writing a book draft on Google Docs called Closed Until Further Notice. But, I’m so insecure about if the teachers or administrators will do something. There’s a part I’m getting to that isn’t ‘school appropriate’ (it’s the middle finger), and I’m struggling to think about a way to word this without getting called to the office. GoGaurdian? Shame on you.

I got yelled at for using copilot when gemini was blocked and they only blocked it for me and they said it was a major referral gogaurdian isent fair with everyone also we ware told to do a game in another class I got a long strand of text but I know tech really well so I knew what it ment and it just ment gogaurdian was limiting resources too why on earth would they do that and in health a website was blocked so I was the only kid who couldn't do anything and I couldn't take a stake test and had to go to tech because of the proxy settings that gogaurdian uses

GoGuardian has honestly been a really disappointing experience. It’s sold as a tool to help teachers manage classrooms and keep students safe online, but most of the time it just feels like constant surveillance.

Students often feel like they’re being watched every second they’re on a school device, even at home. That kind of monitoring doesn’t build trust – it creates stress and anxiety. Many families also don’t fully understand how much the software can see or control, which raises serious privacy concerns.

On top of that, it doesn’t even work that well. Legitimate educational websites sometimes get blocked for no clear reason, while other, less useful sites are still available. This ends up interrupting class, wasting time, and making it harder for students to actually learn and work independently.

There are also big questions about what happens to all the data GoGuardian collects – how long it’s stored, who can see it, and how it might be used in the future. For a product that’s focused on kids, those things should be completely clear and easy to understand.

Overall, GoGuardian feels less like a helpful tool and more like an invasive monitoring system. Instead of supporting students and teachers, it often undermines privacy and trust. Schools should think very carefully before using it and consider options that protect students without treating them like they’re under constant surveillance.

It's weird that my school has access to my screen at all times even after school hours. I talk to my friends on my chromebook and i feel its really invasive that they can see what im saying to my friends, I also do my therapy sessions on my chromebook because I don't have a personal computer and they can just see what im telling my therapist in real time. One of my school counselors saw what I was saying to my therapist and called my parents about it, and thats NOT okay whatsoever.

I hate this site it’s so intrusive and they block every thing I can’t even do my research project because it’s on AI and I can’t search AI to do it! Plus this site can’t even do it’s job right.

Man soooooo stupid. I know sometimes us students cant to bad things, but if were not doing our work, JUST GIVE US AN F. Yall trying come up in here spying on when we want privacy! Bla Bla Bla Blocked Blocked Blocked like BROOOOOOOOO. Please get rid of this app.
