Hide behind the terms & conditions
I subscribed in order to complete a self assessment from a previous year. Before submitting a return, I discovered that I did not need to. I unsubscribed within an hour and requested a refund, which was declined on the basis of T’s & C’s somewhere in a difficult to see place.

We're genuinely sorry your tax journey turned out to be much shorter than expected (that's usually good news!).
Our subscription covers access to the software from the moment it's activated, so we're not able to offer refunds once a subscription has started, even if it turns out you don't need to file after all.
We do try to make this clear before purchase, although we'll take your feedback on board if you found it harder to spot than it should have been.
While we couldn't give you the answer you were hoping for, we're pleased you discovered you didn't need to complete the return—and hopefully that saved you a lot more than the cost of the subscription.

Second year even simpler
This was my second year using the Gosimpletax system for my tax return, and with it's auto complete feature it was even easier than last year.

First time I have used go simple
First time I have used go simple. It's a learning curve like all new software. I recomnend using the HMRC id route to send off the completed submission. The document scan required via my phone camera did not work. I will be using this platform again

I achieved what I need to do with the software.
Although I have a simple tax return, due to a supplement page, HMRC required me to use commercial software. Go simple tax is recommended by Which?, so I used this software.
It was OK. I have no real benchmark to compare as this is the only UK tax return commercial software I have used.
I found the one off/ one year only price quite high.

A very useful accountancy software, quick and easy
I found the software fairly easy to use and extremely useful if you need to add pages and corrections to your existing tax report or if you are filing a new tax report.

First time doing a self assessment. I was recommended go simple tax by my partner who used it previously for his property income. I thought I’d need loads of guidance as my income and expenses weren’t “simple” but their software made everything an absolute breeze. I made one error as I’d forgotten to enter my employment income and a quick email, gave me a response within 5 minutes. I was able to follow very easy instructions to update my return! Very happy and will continue to use each year.
