Unreadable, unusable, a rip-off.

I ordered a 'print-on-demand' book from these people through Abebooks.. Though it was satisfactorily bound and clean it was unreadable, with not one page properly formatted - as if a digital text download had been simply vomited onto the page.
I have complained to both Abebooks and GBP requesting a refund of cost and postage.
The replies I have had have been totally unhelpful.
I would not recommend anyone to go near GBP.

Absolutely disgusting

Absolutely disgusting, box set of books doesn't turn up, months of emails sent with same stupid automated response of will be there soon, or give order details which was parroted at least 9 times. A disgrace.

Greatbookprices are crooks.

I paid them for a book that never arrived. THey reply to every email either by claiming that it will be "with you soon" or by asking me to give them details of the order (which I have now done at least 6 times). I think they are basically crooks - do not give them your custom.

Worst experience

I ordered a book from this Greatbookprices at AbeBooks. After waiting for 6 days, I did not receive any shipping info, so I checked my AbeBooks account and it showed that the book was shipped. Then I contacted the seller and asked if they could provide the shipping tracking info. I was told then "Our records show that your order is processing and will ship out shortly." After waiting for another 4 days (so it was 10 days after I made the purchase), I still did not receive any update, so I contacted Greatbookprices again. Guess what I received? "Unfortunately, due to an error in our inventory process, the book you were inquiring about was out of stock. We were unable to locate more inventory within our promised receipt date so we felt it best to cancel your order and refund your money. " Such a bummer!!! I dont know what would happen if I never contacted the seller, probably I would never receive any update.

Do not order with this company!

Do not order with this company!! It is absolutely horrid. I ordered my book through them almost two months ago, paid 30 pounds, only to never receive it. They work with the worst shipping companies, and contrary to the claims of the shipping company Whistl, my book was never delivered. I have contacted this book seller and it has refused to respond to my inquiries.

I ordered a book on a 15th-century…

I ordered a book on a 15th-century artist and instead received a book on art in the 1930s. I requested a refund and returned the book as per ABE’s instructions. Now Greatbookprices claims they have not received the book and will not issue a refund. The week before I ordered another book from them and after a long delay (and my angry emails), was told they did not have the book. Two copies from greatbookprices are still advertised on ABE’s website. Was this retaliation for my justified anger at their incompetence?

I ordered an expensive book (£50.00) it was sent in a plastic bag thinner than paper. No surprise to find it damaged. Numerous emails sent no one bothers to read the email and when you get a reply I can only assume it's a bot.

Ordered 2 books only 1 arrived. Sent 4 messages but no one bothered to respond to thee issue except for Donae who says we will look at this but no one does. This company appears to be a rip off merchant do not use and Donae lies.

Follow up

Follow up: wrote to GreatBookPricesUk again, and got another standard email showing they hadn't even read my message. However, then complained to Abebooks who were very efficient; they contacted the seller and when they too received no reply they refunded my money and have set their Customer Trust Team on to GBPUK. Bottom line: don't use this seller, but if you have done contact Abebooks direct to ge a refund and give them further ammunition for their investigation.

Wrong book no refund to date...

Ordered through Abe books. Got the wrong book. Returned it recorded delivery and still not received a refund or the correct book. Wish I had read the reviews first. Hey ho... putting it down to experience. Will try getting back from my credit card if no joy in the next few days/weeks plus try to flag to Abe Books. Either a scam or really badly run not sure which... yet.
Abe books provides a supposed UK address and person but how real they are I have yet to investigate. So I will try writing direct to the Far Corner rep if not resolved via Abe Books.

Do not buy from this company

Do not buy from this company. I ordered a book in January that didn't arrive; since 30 January I have been trying to get them to send another copy or refund me the cost of the book and its postage. They have delayed and deferred dealing with the issue and I am still chasing them. I will never buy from them again.

Unethical & Unresponsive

This company advertised the ability to ship 2 books, before a certain date, which I needed for class. When I had yet to receive notice of shipment with 7 days to go on the date they claimed, I reached out. They did not respond.
Then, I got a shipment notice AFTER the date they were to be delivered!
I contacted them immediately and said I no longer needed them since they did not deliver them by the promised date.
After 7 emails back & forth, they finally said to just "cross out your name & address, right return to sender, and mail them back".
I did so. Weeks go by, no response or refund.
I contact them, they claim they didn't get the return and what was the tracking #. Tracking #?!?! I sent them back AS REQUESTED!
They then said wait.
I waited.
2 more weeks go by, I check in, and get a canned response about not receiving my order? I tell them to read our entire email thread. They claim they don't have access to it.
I reply with ALL the prior emails. The final response?
We don't accept returns after 30 days.

I placed an order through AbeBooks on…

I placed an order through AbeBooks on Feb 12, which I have still not received on March 19. I contacted Greatbookprices about this issue and have not heard from them. Terrible customer service, I would advise customers to not buy from them.

DO NOT BUY from this company

DO NOT BUY from this company. A £27 book (plus postage) ordered in November 2023 never arrived and they have never returned any of my emails. The tracking number fails and Abe Books, who advertised their products, failed to help me also. It's a scam.

This is a scam company

This is a scam company. They took my order for a book on 1st November through Abe Books for £14 and did not post the book. 4 months down the line and 14 emails later I’ve still not received a refund, though I do receive the same non committal message back. They have literally stolen from me

Do not use this company

Ordered 2 books to be sent direct to friends as special gifts. Instead of books, CDs arrived which were useless to my friends. Emailed the company to ask what to do to get them changed and received an automated email which did not address the problem. All attempts to contact the company end the same way. Instructions on the Help page are to return the items, but I had no confidence that they would do anything other than disappear into a black hole. This company is a subsidiary of Abe Books and emails are directed to them. Avoid Abe Books too. Dreadful company, non-existent customer service. I wish it was possible to give no stars or, better still, minus stars.

returns and non refunds

asked to return book as not suitable and got return notification and details , postedbook back with proof of postage as stipulated in t&cs no refund no replies to emails only auto reply saying your item will be with you soon. Abe books no help as their t&cs say it must be tracked, off to trading standards now see what they can do, will not bother with this company again and probably not abe books either !

Unlike all the other reviews of not receiving orders I have received mine twice! Every time I email i get "sorry your order will be with you soon". I have just replied asking if they have all gone mad!
