Poor quality and poor service
Poor quality and poor service. 2 year old Davey Crockett (now the trek). Replaced a warped grease shield, broken control panel, thermal sensor, and now a power issue. GMG support isn’t responding. They don’t have parts either as I’ve been waiting for a control panel for months. I have several other outdoor devices that combined have had fewer issues in 10 years. Terrible company and products.
Update 07/09/24 -
Laughing at GMGs reply. You chose a bad vendor and made a crappy product with crappy parts, the vendor went under, you couldn’t get parts forever, and now you’re acting as if everything is solved? Please. How many people were under warranty and couldn’t utilize their GMG? I couldn’t use mine for what, 8 months? 8 months of warrant gone because of incompetence. No, everything is not and will not be fine. Nobody repeat nobody should ever buy a GMG. Poor parts, poor service, poor company.

strarter broke, wheel broke and the grill rusted and was covered .
These are the things that have gone wrong. starter/replaced, wheel broke/not replaced, and grill is disgusting. About 1/2 has huge rust areas and continues to peel. Their remedy is we should scrape and they will send spray paint. The quality of the product is the worst I have ever seen.

Live tech support is dead
My experience: First off, if you plan to purchase thier products, call their support line. They no longer answer or call you back. I've been a long time loyal gmg customer, I'm on my 4th grill, and I stayed with them because of their live tech support and fair warranty. Until now. They no longer provide live technical support. It's all done via email. TERRIBLE. I called their main competitor, TRGR, and they answered. So disappointed in gmg. Their control boards and gmg mobile apps are so bad. I've owned 4 gmg grills and each one board's needed replacements 1 to 3 times. I recommend purchasing a pellet grill from a company who answers their calls. If not, kiss expensive meats goodbye. My gmg constantly skyrockets in temperature and I've had to go to plan B many times.

I own 2 Green Mountain grills
I own 2 Green Mountain grills: a ledge I have had for a year and a recently purchased Trek portable. I had a couple of minor issues with the Ledge when I first received it but customer service took care of them immediately. I have used it 1 to 2 times a week since and never had a problem. Pork butts, ribs, tri tip, chicken, brisket have all been cooked successfully.
I bought a Trek recently and although it worked fine the first time I used it, there was something off about the hopper mounting. I contacted GMG and sent a few photos and they had a replacement grill at my house 3 days later. I could not ask for better service.
So Happy With My Green Mountain Grill
FIrst I struggled over which grill I should buy. I contemplated over a couple different brands and I chose the Ledge from Green Mountain Grill. I'm very happy to report that I made the right choice. It works beautifully and with a little research I am quite successful at cooking some awesome meals. But then I did have an issue. The igniter quit working. I called customer service and I was amazed that I actually got to talk with a live person, without having to wait on hold for a long time like usually happens now days. I received excellent service. They helped me confirm the igniter was bad, they gave me the information as to how to start the grill manually, and they sent me a new igniter very promptly. The instructions were very clear for how to replace the igniter. Now it works perfectly again. It is nice to work with a company that provides such superior customer service, which unfortunately is all too rare these days.
I have no doubts that I chose correctly when I chose to buy a Green Mountain Grill rather than one of the other brands.
Green mountain grills are the best
Green mountain grills are built very solid and there customer support is amazing, New Ledge grills are rock solid and preform outstanding.
Green Mountain Grills
I paid close to $300 for the Danial Boon portable grill. When it worked I got great BBQ. When it didn’t work I got great customer suport. Two years I have had this grill. I have replaced the control board twice, the fan, the auger, the heating element twice and the thermo probe four times. I want to report that GMG comped most of these parts under warranty. They also sent me brand new grill racks for free. I can not say enough regarding the fantastic customer suport offered by this company.
My family learned early on when I said I was going to be using my smoker that we probably would be ordering out. Like I said, when the grill worked it did great. However three times out of five I had to contact customer suport to get the grill to work. This added two to three hours to my time line. I would go through ALL the trouble shooting processes before I called. I became very adapt at trouble shooting issues. Then would call them when I was out of options. I let go of the use of the thermo food probe, after three new probes that worked every once in a while, I just used my own pocked probe. Using the Wi-Fi mode worked every once in a while as well and went out at the worst times. I over cooked hundreds of dollars of meat. When I first researched this company I believed the grilles were made in America. I was told on my 5th or 10th customer suport call that the grills are made in China, “if it were American made it would have cost a LOT more” he said. Today, two years and many cold nights of not getting my GMG to do it’s part in our family get togethers, I finally bit the bullet and took it to the recycling bin of our local dump. I took a picture of it there, it was a sad moment. But I was tired of not being able to depend on my smoker.

My grill didn't work out of the box
My grill didn't work out of the box! I was sent replacement part, and then another of the same to finally get it working. Then I keep having fires (yes I clean it) and this last one melted the grill body, it was 20 months old and they wouldn't stand behind the warranty!!

Horrible experience with Green…
Horrible experience with Green Mountain. Bought a brand new unit and turned out to be a dud. I never asked for a refund, just a way to repair it as I'm in Ireland. Customer service just politely bounces you around until you give up. They knew I had no recourse to sue or return since I'm not in the states. For the money I wish I would have bought a Traeger, almost all my friends here in Ireland have one and there has never been a problem. Shame on you GMG, all it would have taken was a circuit board and as you produce your product in China I'm sure it would have cost you nothing, Don't buy a Green Mountain Grill.
PS it only took them two years to respond to this with yet, no help whatsoever.

Have had two grills from GMG
Have had two grills from GMG, I’ve had a great experience with both. On my older (7 years old or so) Davy Crockett model I eventually had to order some replacement parts. Customer service was great and the replacement parts were reasonably priced.
Great service
My grill was not running correctly and not coming up to temperature. I called in to customer service and I was sent to the Wi-Fi department.
They helped me update the grills firmware. And the grill is up and running again. I am back to smoking. Thank you Green Mountain. Great customer service. I am very happy that they were there to help me.
I own 2 GMG grills and I have had…
I own 2 GMG grills and I have had nothing but positive experiences with them. I have had to call in and get parts replaced and I actually get to speak to someone, even if I have to leave a message, I get a call back. Always get my issues resolved in a timely manner and customer service is great. The grills make great food and I enjoy the Wi-Fi features as well.
Buying a GMG has been a disaster.
Buying a GMG has been a disaster.
Will work manually but app only worked for a week now nothing.
Customer service have been polite and tried their best but this thing just won’t work!
I see a return in the near future!
I purchased a Daniel Boone Prime smoker…
I purchased a Daniel Boone Prime smoker and it came with 2 years warranty. I used it a few times the first year and it worked fairly well. I did notice it did not regulate the temp very well, usually 10 degrees hotter than the programmed temperature.
After the first year I tried to update the firmware. This is where the night mare began. After several attempts to update the unit I was finally sent a new control panel. Unfortunately the unit now became totally unpredictable for temperature. Set at 225 the temp would only go to 160 and then after a couple of hours it would go to 335 and higher. More parts arrived and to date I have had 4 new control panels, 4 new power packs, 3 new fans, and one new igniter. I was instructed to take it to a dealer for repairs. They fixed it and it worked well the first time I smoked some jerky. One week later while getting ready to smoke some pork belly, the temp was set at 160 and the unit quit. No power....nothing. The technical support team at GMG have been awesome to deal with. The problem is with management and their representative for Alberta. He has indicated he wants me to take it back to the dealer for more repairs. The technical team and the repair dealer have both indicated they do not know why the unit is not being replaced? I have spent over 200.00 on gas taking this unit to the repair dealer, lost hundreds of dollars on meat which was overcooked with the temp control issue and now the rep wants me to spend another 200.00 on fuel to take it to the repair dealer plus my time. I have several friends who have Traegers and swear by them. I would definitely NOT recommend anyone to buy a GMG as they are mostly made in China and the company does not want to stand behind their product. With the cost of the Daniel Boone Prime, meat loss, fuel and time I am out well over 3000.00 Extremely disappointed in the loss of money and the fact after almost 3 years I still don't have a working smoker.
DO NOT BUY!
DO NOT BUY!! save yourself the grief and it never fails but seems to always happen to not work over a holiday. I have the non wifi version and this thing has been a piece of junk. I have replaced the auger, the thermal sensor, the fan, the meat thermometer probe twice finally said forget it and got a handheld one, the heat shield as it warped so bad wouldn't fit right, the stainless steel lid as it warped, the low pellet sensor, the igniter 5 times YES 5 TIMES now here it is a little over a year later and the igniter is out again. I replaced it end of June beginning of July 2021 it is labor day 2022 and it is out again, got ahold of gmg customer service and holy moly are they rude, see reply below from their customer service. Each time a part goes out I have to pay someone to replace it, while I know some parts are easy to do, isn't so easy for a handicapped person. They perhaps should research why the grills breakdown so much. My grill also sets under a covered porch and is covered when not in use, the inside is rusted so I had to scrape it so it doesn't come loose in food. The drip tray is currently warped but I'm not putting more money in this. The grill is expensive without all the additional cost. I do not think it unusual to expect it to last like a stove, heaven knows it cost as much or more!! They told me I can light it with a torch lol cuz I bought an expensive grill to pull everything out each time to light it. Also said I should replace the wiring harness and component board if the igniter keeps going out, the cost of those two things is about 200$ NO THANKS!! They have sent some of these parts for free but again not really free as it isn't like they send a person to do it, not to mention the huge inconvenience of not being able to use it while it is down.

We have placed an order for the igniter to help this time. This is a one time replacement on the part. If any future parts are needed they will need to be purchased.
Best,

I think it time for a new grill
I think it time for a new grill
This Jim Bowie worked great for the first year and a half the temperature has been off since the beginning of this season so they sent me a new control board and fan. Replaced both temp is way off. Called customer support and they were very helpful walking me through thing but still can’t get temp right. I purchased brand new $100 thermometer and did the ice water test to check and GMG is 100 degrees off from that I tried calling tech support but got voice mail left message 2 weeks ago and no call back tried calling today and got voicemail. Called Rec Tech grills 4 times today and every call was answered as well as all of my questions
This Green Mt Grill is going to be available to my local scrap yard

What a piece of Junk!
Well in a way I’m glad to see these other reviews with the same issues I am having. These grills are not worth the money. Customer service did try, well one of them went above and beyond and video called me and helped me with my grill the first time. Again the issues continued I called back looking for this gentleman and well he doesn’t work there anymore. The one person that goes above and beyond is not there anymore SMH! I have had so many issues with this grill. I bought my first one super excited took care of it and it crapped out after 6-7 months. I called and complained they finally swapped it out for me… literally 5 months later it happened again. A brand new grill crapped out! It’s so damn annoying. I have to to take all the guts out watch the pellets feed into the fire box wait to see a flame then proceed to put the heat shield, grease tray and grates back on. It was working!!! Yes!!! For about 2 hours then the temp drastically dropped from 275 to 80! Talk about low and slow! I was pissed ruined my dinner plans with my family. It always happens. They are not dependable. I call GMG and I get the same answer “must be your auger and your board” replace both. So I replace both and it works for the first 3-4 cooks then bam back to the same damn story! I want my money back. Spent over 1k for this thing. I should have done a little more research before purchasing this piece of junk and went with a RecTec or a master built gravity smoker/grill. Friends haven’t had issues at all with those. I don’t know what else to do other than report them to the BBB. I never ever write reviews but I just had to. It’s been a damn headache. Friends have asked me if they should get one and my answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! You’re better off with a Weber and a smoke tube. Seriously GMG make better products if you’re going to charge the prices you do. Your older models without the WiFi and all the bells and whistles seem to be the better smokers. Once you changed up your technology they have gone downhill. If it ain’t broken why fix it?

Green Mountain Customer Service
I was surprised to see so many negative reviews here regarding customer service. My Jim Bowie ignitor or thermocouple failed the SUNDAY before fourth of July this year 2022. I call Green Mountain at 9am on a Sunday fully expecting to get a robot. Instead I spoke to a very helpful gentleman describing my problem and in 5 minutes they had shipped me replacement parts on my grill that was 7 years old. Fantastic customer service and very refreshing, thank you!
Green mountain customer service is…awful
Green mountain customer service is awful, I spent over $1100 on a peak 2 months later it stopped working. Called customer service 5 times, 3 times got voicemail and no call back, 2 times I was hung up on. SMH awful how do I get rid of this yard art
For the money I spent it stopped…
For the money I spent it stopped working within a few months (Jim Bowie model). Had replacement parts and still bad. Tried it again and I have to dig all pellets out even though it’s covered with a Green mountain cover. So disappointing when you went to use your grill and it never works. If I had more time I’d file with the better business bureau. Do not buy!!! Better off with Traeger or pit boss.
