Fantastic Service

I ordered and paid for the ladies peaklander boot, unfortunately they became out of stock, I asked them to send me a pair as soon as they were available, thet kept me informed all the way. I then decided to order Trivor boot. The boots arrived in a couple of day. I was also refunded within 2 days and they also honoured the accessory pack that was on special offer. The boots are fab and I could not fault the customer services dept for the service they offered me .

Disappointed with both the product and…

Disappointed with both the product and the customer service.

I bought a pair of Grisport Pennine boots for my husband expecting them to be suitable for regular dog walking and hiking, based on how they were marketed. Like many customers, I would reasonably expect walking boots promoted for these activities to be durable enough for regular use.

Unfortunately, the boots failed prematurely, with the soles splitting and the heels beginning to disintegrate. After researching the issue, I found a number of reviews from other customers reporting similar problems.

When I contacted Grisport, I was told the Pennine is an entry-level boot intended only for occasional recreational walkers. While this may appear in the product specifications, I do not believe this important limitation is made sufficiently clear at the point of purchase. If a boot is only suitable for occasional use, that should be prominently stated wherever it is marketed for hiking and dog walking. Had that been made clear, I would have bought a different model.

I also found the same boots being sold by other retailers as general-purpose walking boots, reinforcing the expectation that they are suitable for more regular use.

My complaint focused on the way the product was presented and the expectations that created, but Grisport's response concentrated on the expired guarantee and offered a 15% discount on another purchase, which did not address my concerns. I then sent a detailed follow-up asking for a further review and a final response. Nearly three weeks later, I had not even received an acknowledgement.

I appreciate that products can sometimes fail, but I was disappointed both by the durability of the boots and by the lack of meaningful customer service when I raised what I believe were reasonable concerns.

Edit: just seen Grisport’s reply. I find it disappointing that a company of this size, who apparently have thousands of customers who love these boots, on this “one” occasion where someone isn’t happy, their profit margin does not allow them to appropriately compensate them and they insist on hiding behind their warranty clause as if it is impossible for anyone to over ride this “rule/law/bull” when in reality “if there is a will there is a way”. Very disappointing reply.

We’re sorry to hear of your disappointment with both the boots and the service you received. We also apologise that your follow-up was not acknowledged promptly; this is not the standard of communication we aim to provide.

The Pennine was an entry-level boot designed for lighter, occasional recreational use. It has since been discontinued. For regular dog walking or more frequent hiking, we would recommend one of the Vibram-soled boots within our collection, as these are designed to offer greater durability for sustained use.

Unfortunately, the issue was reported after the product’s warranty period had expired, so we were unable to offer a replacement or refund. The 15% discount was offered as a genuine gesture of goodwill to help towards a more suitable model, rather than to dismiss the concerns you raised.

We do appreciate your feedback regarding how the boot’s intended level of use was communicated. Customers should be able to make an informed choice based on their individual needs, and we are sorry that the Pennine did not meet your expectations.

Hiking boots don't last long

This is a long term review of Grisport Fuse Brown Leather Trekking Boots.

Pros:

Comfortable, look good, lightweight, waterproof.

Cons:

Lack quality/longevity.
2 years of light/moderate use and they're finished.
The insoles are threadbare.
The internal fabric has holes.
The leather at the main stress point behind the toe has a small hole.
The front-centre of the soles are worn to the bone - no grip.

In conclusion these are nice boots at first but under similar use-patterns to competitor brands, they don't last nearly as long.

Update

Grisport's response is quite balanced. The boots come at a good price point and they are lightweight and comfortable from the outset. A more durable boot will likely be heavier, less comfortable and more expensive.

As they say, two years of use isn't nothing. Would I have liked a bit longer given the light to moderate use? Yes. Upgrading 2/5 to 3/5. It's a great boot when new and for some time after that.

Thank you for your detailed review. We’re pleased that you found the Fuse boots comfortable, lightweight, waterproof and good-looking, although we’re sorry you are disappointed with their longevity.

The boots have provided two years of use, and the wear described—including worn insoles, internal fabric and reduced sole tread—is consistent with general wear over time. How quickly walking footwear wears will vary considerably depending on mileage, terrain, gait, maintenance and conditions, even when use is described as light or moderate.

We provide a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects, which is a strong warranty for footwear within this price bracket and compares favourably with many similar brands. As the boots have been used for two years, they are well beyond that warranty period.

We appreciate that you had hoped they would last longer, but we do not believe two years of use indicates an inherent lack of quality. Nevertheless, we value your feedback and are glad the boots served you well for comfort and waterproofing during that time.

Customer Service Failed Me

Unfortunately, the boots are great, but Grisport UK's customer service failed me. The boots (the fifth pair we ordered through Grisport or Amazon) that I ordered did not fit me, and I wanted an exchange, which they originally indicated they would "organize". Upon receipt of the return, however, Grisport UK informed that this was not possible, and that a refund would be issued minus 20 pounds for the so-called free gift sent with the boots that I retained in anticipation of an exchange for which I would have gladly paid the additional delivery fee. My attempts at obtaining an accommodation went unanswered. Grisport UK has lost me as a customer.

We’re pleased that you have enjoyed our boots over several purchases, but we’re genuinely sorry that this experience has left you feeling let down.

The complimentary gift formed part of the original order and, as explained in our promotional terms and conditions, must also be returned if the qualifying boots are returned for a refund. Where the gift is retained, its stated value of £20 is deducted from the refund. This is necessary to ensure the promotion is applied fairly and consistently to all customers.

We completely understand that you kept the gift because you expected an exchange rather than a refund. We’re sorry if our initial communication gave you that expectation before it was confirmed that an exchange could not be processed; we should have explained the position more clearly. However, as the gift was retained when the order was refunded, the £20 deduction was made in accordance with the promotion’s terms.

We also apologise that your later messages were not answered promptly. We appreciate your previous custom and are disappointed that the handling of this return has overshadowed your otherwise positive experience with our boots.

Grisport, pound for pound the best walking footwear.

Over the 40 years I have bought footwear for for walking and hiking from most of the worlds best manufacturers eg Salomon, Zamberlan, Sportiva etc etc. Over the last 15 years I switched to Grisport and have been delighted with every pair that I’ve bought.
They have all been excellently put together and have been comfortable from the start.
Another massive plus is that they are far more durable than any other brand that I have bought, I just wish I’d have known about the brand 40 years ago?????

Okay I brought the northway black…

Okay I brought the northway black boots, before I start with them let me say that customer support were amazing and even checked how much the boots weigh as this was not on the website.

Now there was no online review for these which is a shame, they are so light. Waterproof but don’t get super sweaty and have a WIDE toe box. So naturally they are my favorite boots.

Heel locking is comfy and secure although I would rather slightly shorter laces because I feel like they can get caught in things so I swapped my laces out for a different pair.

Over all I am really happy with these, I have narrow arch and a wide splay of toes and these shoes seem to be able to deal with that.

I only used them for one hiking trip but they have held up well and I expect to get many a muddy field out of them.

Also the team made sure I got them on time and did answer my questions so I am very happy with customer service!

Great team and product - the boots I ordered were too small (my mistake on the order) - they exchanged them free of charge - with no issues. Light weight, well made and excellent service - thank you!

Not impressed

I’ve had my Grisport Crazyhorse shoes for six months now which is plenty of time to give them a fair review and they’re a reasonable choice but not that impressive. The biggest issue is that the sole doesn’t give adequate grip on moist ground. During my daily dog walks on grass, soil and stone, they lose traction too easily in damp weather. Even on the inclined concrete path to our house, any slight drizzle will make these shoes lose traction. I have five other pairs of walking shoes and they all hold better than the Grisport.
The shoes also have poor grip around the foot which causes ankle slippage whilst walking, it’s an uncomfortable and unstable experience. I have tried to correct that by inserting gel insoles and firmer tightening of the laces but such remedies only increase pressure to the top of the foot and have no effect on the ankle grip. Even so, it shouldn’t be necessary to do such things just to make these shoes hold properly.
On the benefit side, waterproofing is good due to the leather uppers and is simple to maintain with regular waxing to keep your feet dry.
The shoes seem quite well made and look sturdy, and after six months have only a few scuff marks that wax out after polishing.
Overall, they are potentially good shoes but with serious inadequacies which is why I’ve relegated them to (expensive) garden shoes because I don’t trust them to handle anything more demanding. In short, they look the part but don’t act it.

Overland boots

Overland boots
Got these as needed more ankle support than my regular work boots due to arthritis in one ankle.
Worn for about 14 hrs a day for the last 10 days, 18000 to 25000 steps.
Comfy out of the box and made a massive difference to my ankle pain.
Will be back for another pair when the time comes.

Great customer service and good quality shoes

I ordered the shoes on the back of a Which review. The shoes arrived promptly and were of a very good quality. Unfortunately there was a fault with one shoe. The other shoe however was very comfotable and supporting.
I contacted Grisport who were very helpful and offered an exchange and refund at once.

Great quality work boots, very comfy and durable and good value for money.
Very good service with delivery much earlier than expected.
I have tried many work boots over the past 38 years, and in my line of work I am on my feet for most of the day so comfort is important.
I will definitely buy these again,

No need to break these walking shoes in!

Bought some Grisport Keswick Walking Shoes just before going on holiday, with no time to try them out with a view to breaking them in. I needn’t have worried, because straight away they were like a pair of old friends . Great shoes for walking.

Grisport Halo Military Green Walking Shoes

My Grisport Halo Military Green Walking Shoes arrived when promised and were exactly as described. Having now used the walking shoes for several woodland walks, I can confirm that I have found them to be extremely comfortable and to have a sole which grips well and seems to be extremely durable. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Cannot recommend- I purchased grisport waterproof walking…

I purchased grisport waterproof walking boots from a retailer- they absolutely leaked so I went back for an exchange not a refund although I’d only had them 2,weeks and worn twice - retailer was completely abusive to both me and my wife saying it was my sweaty feet causing them to leak !!!! I contacted grisport they didn’t wish to know or help said I had to go back to the retailer which when I explained was not an option as they refused to exchange or refund and were abusive and insulting they still said sorry can’t help - sounds like you gave a faulty boot - I cannot recommend these boots and am very disappointed with the response - I saved for these boots like others when you want to buy quality but unfortunately I have been left with a pair of boots that I cannot fully get use from - disappointing when customers are meant to have rights ….. …..

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.

We are very sorry to hear that you have been disappointed with your Grisport boots and with the experience you describe. We fully appreciate how frustrating this must be, especially when you had only worn the boots a small number of times.

As the boots were purchased from an independent retailer and not directly from us, the contract of sale is between yourself and the retailer. This means that any request for an exchange, refund, or formal assessment under consumer rights must be handled by the retailer.

As the UK distributor, we are not normally party to the discussions between a retailer and their customer, so we are unable to comment on the full details of what took place. We would always expect customers to be treated fairly and respectfully, but we cannot make a decision on behalf of the retailer.

With regard to the boots themselves, without inspecting the specific pair we are unable to confirm whether there is a fault. Waterproof footwear can sometimes be affected by a number of factors, including use, conditions, aftercare, fit, and internal moisture build-up from perspiration, but we would not want to make assumptions about your particular pair without a proper assessment.

Our advice remains that the retailer is the correct point of contact, as they are responsible for assessing the product and advising you in line with their returns and warranty procedure.

Kind regards - Grisport UK

Quick delivery and quality boots

I recently bought the Lady Santa Fe Blue boots. Delivery was very quick and I’m really pleased with the boots. Very comfortable from the first wear and waterproof when walking through very long wet grass.
