Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 280 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers frequently encountered issues with their orders, such as receiving incorrect substitutions or having items unavailable, leading to incomplete deliveries. People also expressed dissatisfaction with product quality, noting short use-by dates on fresh items and changes to recipes. Furthermore, customer service was often described as unhelpful and difficult to engage with, particularly when trying to resolve problems or obtain refunds. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with delivery staff. Several reviewers mentioned drivers being pleasant, polite, and helpful, even going out of their way to assist or being apologetic when issues arose. These positive interactions often contributed to a good delivery experience for those customers.

Terrible Asda website

Terrible Asda website, cannot check out an online shop, this is the third time this has happened on recent online shops. A message to management your website is letting you down and you need to fix the issue asap as you will be losing another customer!

Terrible service

Terrible service. Never use Asda online groceries! They take your money tell you that products are in stock. You arrive and they nonchalantly say they’re out of stock. Promise you a refund ! Refund never arrives. You then have to call a foreign call centre 9 times to get a refund. Refund still never happens. More phone calls and hassle just to not be charged for what they told you was in stock but never was !! Complete shambles! Never going to shop at Asda again ! Used to be a great store but hopeless now !

Customer Serice only part time

I went out early to the main Blackpool ASDA for some batteries, but when I got home realised they were the wrong type. I went straight back to the store at 7:30 and stood at the customer services desk for nearly five minutes before an employee told me "Customer Services doesn't open till 8am" -Really? The store is open 24 hours so there should be somebody around to help.
When my local Morrisons Customer Service desk is closed, customers can go to the tobacco kiosk for refunds etc. About time ASDA woke their ideas up.

Meat delivery worrying got food poisoning

They used to be good but I don’t know what happened ! I give two stars for the actual delivery drivers.

Recently my food deliveries are not up to standard, especially the meat! Three times in a row now the meat packaging has been broken and chicken juices leaked all over my groceries (and it’s not packaged in separate bags like they used to be to avoid this very same issue!) , food gets delivered with extremely short shelf life at full price , we ate sausages that were in date and yet somehow both of us got food poisoning within hours… they need to check their handling process as I’m sure the meat was not good. Not at all happy and won’t shop here again until they’ve sorted themselves out.

I would give a minus 0 if I could...

So reading the reviews it seems others have had similar experiences as me. So I ordered for delivery on Monday the 15th of December between 9pm to 10pm.

The updates said the order had been packaged but no update on the out for delivery or delivered.

I have cctv and watched outside my property until just after 10pm. I contacted customer service and an Indian lady said it would arrive but so far the delivery driver is either ill, the car has broken down, they could not find the address or they are running late. She rattled off every excuse but no solution. After 10 minutes of excuses she puts me through to the clacton on sea superstore.

Someone answers and I ask where my delivery is. They could not answer and I had to wait for them to get someone else. The person picks up and says the delivery driver was there but no one came to the door. LIES. I have cctv and no such thing happened. I was told no one was able to deliver and he cannot help me. I was told to contact management the next day and when I said why was i not texted, phoned or emailed about this there were more excuses again but no apology. He said there was nothing he could do . I would have come out if I was notified. I said how would you feel if this happened to you and then no answer and instead of replying, he puts the phone down on me.

I end up calling the next morning and there is an Indian lady who answers with a thick accent who I can barely understand. Once again she says I will get my money back but I will have to wait up to 5 days and when I asked for a manager she told me to come back after the refund. No apology. No help. None of the staff seem to care and everytime I order I get nothing but substitutes that are useless to me.

So far I have received nothing and no updates. I have to wonder if they are trying to lose custom with their lack of customer service or organisation.

They never informed me they could not find my address and when I looked on a friends cctv of the road, it turns out the driver turned up at the end of my road out of sight of my cameras. The time they arrived was 8:40pm and left at 8:50pm. The driver arrived 20 minutes before and left before my booking time. It is one thing to arrive early but no text, no call and no email to let me know. I know they have these things because they text and phone and email when a order is confirmed.

I do not know how this company has lasted so long when they do this to the customer. I know it isn't just me because i have read loads of reviews on here. With customer service like the people at Asda, you do not need any enemies.

Quick update on the situation. Got an email with Wednesday 17th of December in place of the Monday the 15th slot that I just mentioned that never arrived. The slot was between 9pm until 10pm. The update says it has been delivered and I saw this email at 9am!. How can it be delivered when it is Wednesday morning right now and no where near the evening yet!

I phoned customer service and got another Indian lady who I could barely understand yet again. She said it is weird that this update has happened and does not know why it says delivered on Wednesday instead of Monday. It is now Wednesday morning and not the evening. So basically I was lied to yet again as I was told to wait a few days for a refund they never requested.

She has REQUESTED a refund and I have to wait up to 48 hours now to see if it will be approved. What a joke. It is my money and they have not reattempted delivery. Once again they have lied. I am beginning to wonder if Asda at Clacton on Sea make their money out of scamming their customers as they could refuse the refund and say the goods were delivered on Wednesday. What would of happened if I did not phone?

The fact that none of the customer service people at Asda seem to know what they are doing is bothers me because as the days go by it seems they are stalling and will try to refuse my refund. So far though, I cannot seem to trust anyone at this company.

This has been the biggest headache from start to finish and shows any updates on Asda's website are just false. It is nearing the end of the week and so far no updates at all. Why does a refund request take so long to confirm when Iceland can refund pretty much on the same day. I have paid for a service I never received.

Least Iceland attempts re-delivery and messages you and gives a refund straight away....

Even though my refund was approved by Asda, I looked on my bank and they have taken out the £50.00 without my permission. I phoned and got a man name Dinesh who once again I could barely understand. He blamed my bank and then once i said about trading standards he said it was Asdas glitch.

I will never shop with Asda ever again. If you want workers who do not know what they are doing then this place is perfect for you.

The best thing about this experience was the music from being put on hold and that was rubbish too, the only thing Asda was ever consistent on!

Do not order from Asda online

Do not order from Asda online. I ordered online and my son took delivery. 5 items in the order were replaced. I contacted customer service to request a refund/replacement as the beer delivered would not be used. They said NO, outrageous - they deliver the wrong thing, the replacement is not wanted instead of an apology they say no refund/ replacement. Then say if I make another order there will be no charge to take the wrong order back. Rubbish service.

spider in biscuits

I purchased a packet of asda ginger biscuits and when i was half way through the packet I found a large dead spider embedded in a biscuits. I contacted customer service and explained everything and sent pictures, I then got an email asking for the same information that was sent, so either no one read my email correctly or it was delay tactics. I replied to the email with the details again and then was contacted again asking for details! I eventually got a reply(4week later)which then asked me to post the items back by recorded delivery. Which i replied that i was not happy about as it was time/money that could be better spent at xmas. still waiting on any reply

Increasingly disappointing

Increasingly disappointing, never know if an order is going to arrive - or be cancelled by Asda when it’s 100% their error. 3 x of late I’ve had dreadful delivery experiences, 2 where the orders never turned up, and one tried to deliver whilst I was out at 9.30am, when my slot was for 5pm, needless to save, Asda cancelled and didn’t even attempt re-delivery. I’ve been on online customer for many years, and have a recurring slot since pre-covid times. Moreover I’m pretty sick and tired of getting items with 1 day freshness dates on, especially when I have say 3 or 4 lots of veg all with tomorrows date. I’m seriously tempted to cancel my delivery pass and spend my money where it’s appreciated.

Non delivery of groceries .

Driver could not find our house to deliver our groceries ??? - but we have been having weekly deliveries for 6 years - I rang customer service call centre in India or wherever , they said it would be delivered that afternoon - tracking app said "soon" - did not arrive all day - again spoke to customer non service [ a better description ] they just said you will have to reorder - no compensation offered . The new website is terrible - confusing and not user friendly at all . we have been Asda customers for many years , but are now considering changing supermarkets ..... but are they all as bad ? It seems to be the way of the world these days .

Frustrating On-line Groceries - must improve.

On-line Groceries generally ok but frustrating. Lots of substitutes and Website has been flawed with problems for a couple of years now. Lack of investment is showing. It says you can amend an order until 11pm the day before but in my experience they mean 6pm the day before! Search engine needs work. Most of my deliveries have arrived on time.

Absolute joke of a delivery service

Absolute joke of a delivery service. Frequently don't turn up. Charge for a delivery slot but don't keep to it. Website almost impossible to use. How on earth do asda expect to keep customers when they provide such a dreadful service?

I’ve been very happy with my online grocery deliveries. All the staff have been friendly and helpful!
Rex, who delivered to me in Hedge End today, was especially great.
Overall, it’s been a very positive experience.

It would be nice to see more people share their good experiences too, rather than only posting negative reviews!

What a miserable experience Asda is.

What a miserable experience! I've just used the Asda website for the last time. Like thousands of other poor customers, I have spent hours compiling a shopping order only for the website checkout to crash. Again. "We can't take payment right now". This has happened to me dozens of times. Inflated prices, poor products, shoddy website. Well, you can keep it Asda. This customer has had enough. My delivery pass is cancelled. My account is cancelled. Like thousands of others, I've had enough. Bye bye.
