We have used the Halo Collar system with our springerdoodle and goldendoodle, Foley and Basil, for nearly 2 years now. We began with Foley in Fall 2023 and then added Basil to our fur crew Summer 2024. The Halo Collar system and phone app are by far one of the easiest systems to set up and navigate - even for the tech-challenged! It has overall been FAR LESS expensive than a traditional buried wire fence system and our dogs respond to the collars and system prompts incredibly well. The flexibility in changing fence perimeters and adding multiple fences to your account when traveling is AMAZING. Training for the pups and customer support is top notch. Hands down one of the best investments we’ve ever made for our dogs!

Halo upped their game!
I started my Halo journey with a Halo 3. It was good. The Halo 4 was a nice improvement. The Halo 5... This is a full level up! Bluetooth is highly responsive. Fence feedback is there when you need it and seems to be the most accurate of all the collars to date! Meaning, my dog is more safely able to play near the fence w/o getting an inadvertent feedback but still gets feedback in a timely manner if she tries to bolt. It also works so much better with the remote beacon, which allows my dog ultimate freedom when we are walking/hiking in an area where she can be off leash.

The team at Halo has offered the best customer service we've ever received at any business.
One of our collars had a malfunction, before I even knew there was a problem Halo had pinpointed the issue and shipped a new collar.
Working with this company has been a breeze. It eases our minds knowing our pups are safely contained in our yard.

Have called only twice both times regarding a remote beacon. First time was to clarify setup and most recently because remote wasn’t working. Both customer service folks were pleasant, professional and able to resolve my issue right away. And, regarding the remote beacon that wasn't working I am receiving a new one at no charge! Love this collar!

The Halo 4 collar does not function as advertised. Inconsistent, lagging collar feedback when exiting a geofence of a 60x200ft backyard with near zero tree cover (twice the advertised 30x30ft minimum). A product that doesn't work, then only a partial refund when returning within the window? An autoreply email bot doesn't help.

The product worked great. Horrible customer service. Most of the time you get a bot. I had a problem with my collars (clip connection) falling apart and they put 'critical' on my collars and turned them off unneccessarily. Just an annoyed customer service rep bring spiteful. I was sent warranty information which I completed and didn't hear back for days. With no collars my dogs ran away and I called to talk to a real human being. The rep noted there was NO reason my collars were turned off. But they can't turn them back on... It was escalated to management. They called and they don't know where my order is in the shipping process, they have no connection with the shipping department...WHAT??? They are giving me 3 months free subscription. I asked for more and they said no as I've only had the product 5 months. Not sure they grew the company quickly and there are issues but it's a bunch of 'virtual assistants', remote workers and a warehouse with no connection. The product is a huge price point. The company needs to take care of the customers opposed to pusshing new versions out so quickly. So now after talking to the highest level of management there is nothing they can do but 'watch' for an update to come through today, 3 days after I confirmed my warranty address. The part I need was shipped FedEx-2day, there is NO reason they can't send new collars that they incorrectly turned off for no reason. So frustrating. I'd go with SpotOn next time, even though higher price point, a nice New Hampshire based company, not this junk.

I wanted to love it. However, it didn't keep our dog in the fence. It is supposed to be waterproof but now has a "critical error" and needs replaced after dog swam with it. A waste of money.

Bought this and it worked great for 1 year and then battery wouldn’t hold charge. Halo claims their battery last 3-5 years. I contacted support and I will say they were attentive and tried to help but in the end, they told me I need to buy another $500 collar since the battery can not be replaced and continue to pay monthly subscriptions.
Very disappointed. I so wanted this to work good for 3 or 4 years.

I bought two of these in Feb. Easy to set up and training was a breeze. App was user friendly and customer service very accessible. I began to have problems early on with one collar no longer being able to connect to WiFi. I had to troubleshoot at home and then they did on their end as well and it was determined the collar needed to replaced. I was sent one within a few weeks. A few more months go by and woke up to one collar being deactivated from my account without warning. Contacted customer service and on their end the collar had been determined unsafe and was shut off without warning. Again, I was shipped a replacement but still took over a week or more to get. There was no options for overnight shipping for these inconveniences. I live next to a busy highway and I could not leave my dogs without some sort of fence which were these collars. I had to take one dog to family and leave one inside during the wait times. My smaller dog, a dachshund, always had issues with the collar fitting right. The collar at its tightest looked like a doughnut around her neck even though it’s suppose to be smaller and universal size. I noticed throughout the day that the collar would loosen up. I was given replacement straps for free, the collar needed to be tightened every single morning and would be loose by end of day. One day she finally lost the collar as I’m sure she was able to slip it off her neck easily. I thought their gps would find it but found out that they can only track the collar of the dog is wearing it and it’s actively moving. I was given the option for halo care which would cost another $200. I declined as I felt like I had already had so many issues and phone calls with customer service all of which are documented. I let one dog stay at family again and ordered her a different brand collar. I put the other halo back on my dachshund and within a few months even though I was very diligent about tightening straps daily again over time she was able to slip it off and I even tracked it right to the middle of her boundary and was unable to locate it. Again, I was given the option of halo care and another $200. I can say I gave these an honest try and they worked really good, when they worked, but I was highly inconvenienced and left scrambling to find safe places for my dogs while waiting on new replacements multiple times. After the second one was lost and after a good 6 months of trying (Feb 2025-August 2025) I decided to switch to pet safes new version. I hope it can be more reliable. Sadly I still owe $1000 for collars I no longer can use. (Updated-I replied with the review details to be contacted by halo as requested and have not still-Sept 18)

I purchased the Halo dog collar in good faith, expecting a premium product, especially at its Canadian price point - Ended up being about $1700 CAD for two collars taxes in. What I discovered instead is a masterclass in over-promising, under-delivering, and hiding behind euphemisms. The collars never even touched my dogs — and frankly, that’s the best decision I made in this entire experience.
Let’s begin with the app. If you’re going to market a product as cutting-edge pet technology, the software should not look and feel like a half-finished high-school project. The interface is clumsy, unreliable, and inspires zero confidence. Rather than offering meaningful training resources or robust onboarding, Halo directs customers to YouTube videos — not tutorials, mind you, but mostly reviews. Imagine paying a premium price only to be told, “Go watch some random opinions online.” That isn’t support; it’s laziness disguised as strategy.
The performance claims are even worse. This collar is advertised as a safe and intelligent containment system, yet once a dog breaches the “invisible fence,” they can travel up to 50 meters before the device bothers to remind them. Fifty meters. That’s half a football field. What exactly is being “contained” here? At that point, the dog has already escaped, and the owner has every reason to question whether Halo understands the word safety at all.
It gets worse. Once the dog approaches the edge of a building, the collar essentially shuts down and takes some time to find a satellite again which means the collar is inactive for a period of time.. If you’re three meters from your neighbor’s house, the collar may simply stop working — because, according to a support call I had, “the five satellites can’t do their job.” Odd, considering the company’s own website promises: Halo puts the precision power and accuracy of over 150 satellites orbiting the Earth directly into your hands. Which is it — five or 150?
The mapping function is equally flawed. You cannot reliably create a boundary by walking it while the app “maps” you. These so-called 150 satellites that can locate a lost phone or watch to within a meter somehow cannot draw a fence around your property. The technology is anything but intuitive. It feels dated, clumsy, and frankly very “American” — much like U.S. banking system on weekends that still can’t process instant transfers while the rest of the world moves money in milliseconds, seven days a week. What’s presented as innovation is really just euphemism wrapped around outdated technology. And yes, I’ll admit it: the heavily weighted collar dressed up in pretty colors seduced me. How foolish was I?
And then there’s the language — oh, the language. The company bends over backwards to avoid admitting what the product actually does. Their headline: Customizable Feedback — The collar can provide sound, vibration, and static feedback — whatever is best for your dog. “Static” is their euphemism of choice for what is, in reality, a mild electric shock. Static? That’s the sound your sweater makes coming out of the dryer. Calling a jolt of electricity “static” isn’t clever; it’s insulting and confusing. Likewise, “immediate feedback” is corporate doublespeak for “we shocked your dog.” These linguistic gymnastics don’t make the product kinder or gentler; they make the company look like it believes its customers are too fragile — or too naïve — to handle honesty. Let’s be clear: customers aren’t looking for vague, politically correct fluff. They’re buying because they want an invisible fence or a shock collar. Pretending otherwise doesn’t fool anyone with half a brain.
As if the disappointment weren’t enough, Halo adds insult to injury with a restocking fee. Charging people extra to return a product that fails to meet even the most basic expectations is the ultimate demonstration of arrogance. And to top it off, the collars don’t even ship with a wall plug for charging. For a product priced this high, being told to go buy your own USB-C adapter is just embarrassing. Premium companies include the essentials; Halo nickel-and-dimes you at every turn.
Here’s the reality: the Halo collar fails in design, reliability, support, and honesty. It fails so completely that I would never risk strapping it onto my dogs. What Halo really sells is a case study in how to alienate intelligent customers: overcharge them, confuse them, patronize them with euphemisms, and then charge them again when they try to walk away. For a company that claims to be revolutionary, Halo has only revolutionized my disappointment.

We love our Halo collars! We've been using them for over a year on our two German Shorthaired Pointers and have had zero issues with the dogs getting out of the boundaries we set -- both at home and on our 100 acre farm. Being able to easily change their boundaries depending on where we are allows us to safely have our dogs with us and see where they are at all times.
Recently, we had to get a replacement collar since one dog returned home without it, and the customer support at Halo has been second to none!! Sheri went out of her way to make sure we got a replacement collar quickly with all the extras and we even got to pick a new color! What would have been a big unplanned expense suddenly became a blessing, all because of her.
We are proud to be part of the Halo Pack!

The gps looks to be accurate (eventually), but it is the lag between movement and collar response that makes this unusable. First, there was no issue with GPS coverage (open sky, no trees) and I tried customer service and a firmware update before returning. Standing on the edge of the gps fence, when you move at walking speed over the line by 10 feet, there is a 5-10 second lag before it actually jumps across (at the same time the gps indicator on my phone moves smoothly across). There is no warning from the collar, noise or vibration, as you physically move over the line. It then jumps and proceeds to warn and shock in quick succession. There is no way I can train our dog with such inconsistent response. Return is so far easy, but there was an unexpected $25 fee for shipping.
Going to have to shell out the unreasonable $200 for a replacement collar for our wired system, which is at least very consistent.

I am very disappointed with the performance of the collar I purchased. Halo collar website states that the collar is water resistant, but that description is extremely misleading. My dog was in the water for only 1–2 minutes, and the collar completely stopped working afterward.
For a product that costs $600, I expected significantly more durability and reliability, especially when it comes to something as common as accidental water exposure. At the very least, the wording on your website should be corrected to set accurate expectations for customers.
**Update: Contacted Halo collars and their representative told me that their collars are not water resistant and my collar will not be covered by any warranty.

Customer since 2023. My high energy dog has a Halo 3+. Build quality is great. However, it has periodic GPS connectivity issues. It's allowed my dog to run free twice. Otherwise, it's been a great collar. Over two years old now and going strong.
My old dog has the halo 4. We are now replacing it for a second time. First had a major GPS issue. Second has a battery issue. All under warranty. Build quality for the Halo 4 is a step down. The actual collar has totally delaminated. But they did solve the GPS issues from the 3. I can go get a 550 dollar smart phone and use it for years without issue. Meanwhile Halo can't solve their quality issues.
Halo also lowered their collar price but increases their monthly subscription fees over 100%. The old bait and switch.
Customer serve has been good. I would give these collars a 5/5 if the quality and technology was better.
Overall, I do reccomended. This has allowed my dogs to enjoy our 3 acres. But I can't look past the need to replace the Halo 4 for a third time and I also can't look past the 3+ GPS connectivity issues (yes I've contacted the dog park).
Be mindful if you purchase. You may have issues.
Lastly. You NEED to train. I see many people who are lazy and put the collars on and expect the dogs to know how they work. Put in the training and they will respond very well.
