The stairlift has broken down on multiple occasions since purchase. Every possible part except the rail and seat has needed replacing.
Today it has stopped at the top of the stairs leaving me stuck. They are refusing to come out until tomorrow. Apparently it's acceptable to leave someone who lives alone upstairs without access to food, drink or medication!

There was a problem with the footplate of my stairlift and I rang to book an engineer visit. The kind lady at Handicare told me what to do and I was able to put it right myself immediately.

Excellent comprehensive quote with all aspects fully covered and clear to read, by the person who visited me at my home. Absolutely no pressure at any stage of the process and I had no one "chasing" me to get the contract. The price was the lowest of all 3 quotes and I was also able to see a good range of warranties that I requested for when the stair lift was out of it's initial warranty, which were all priced within budget. The contact centre kept me informed as necessary including a text on the day of fitting. The electrician and installer both worked efficiently and left nothing for me to clear up. I had knowledge of the stairlift I wanted but the installer still explained all aspects of operation before leaving. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Handicare.

From initial call to survey choosing the materials and planning the wet room was very good the two installers were very polite talking to us each day on how things were progressing and if we were happy with the work we found them very professional cleaned up each day all in all the finished wet room was beautiful massive help to my wife's mobility less stress for her using the bathroom so yes we would like to thank everyone involved and would recommend them to anyone thinking of doing the same.

Our installers Darren and Matt, were brilliant. Incredibly tidy and kept us fully informed throughout. Workmanship was top notch. Very happy with the end result and my Father has regained confidence and independence.

From the stairlift being delivered and fitted you could ask for better or friendly service, the 2 guys were very good.

From the first phone call to the finished walk-in shower installation,everything went smoothly. The two installers were polite and cleaned up after themselves a big thank you to them. Customer services phoned twice during installation to make sure everything was going ok. Then phoned a few days later to make sure we were happy with everything. It has made our lives so much easier, Thank you.

After having a stairlift mis sold and fitted by another company I contacted Handicare who visited within 24hrs of my initial contact by a representative who went through everything and did all the measurements and left me with a quote which was acceptable so went ahead and ordered, due to my circumstances with the previous lift which was removed Handicare arranged for the installation the same as the old one was removed. The only issue was on the day of installation the lift was due to be delivered by courier between 7.30am and 9am but did not arrive until 1.45pm by which time the fitter was already on site but all in all very happy with the service and installation.

My wife is a dementia sufferer with very limited mobility. Showering her in a small en-suite cubicle was becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous. I asked Handicare if they could look at the nearby bathroom space and advise whether it could be converted to a wetroom.
Between them the sales the technical team came up with a great design that made the best use of a difficult space.
Work began surprisingly quickly. The fitter Danny was the best I could have or ever hoped to have had. He was professional, skilled, neat and tidy and explained everything clearly. He did a truly excellent job to the highest standard and created for us exactly what we wanted - a safe, accessible wet-room which is stylish and smart and blends in well with the modern design of our home.
All material arrived in site in time and were tidily stored. Our house was treated with care and respect and the fitting did not impact on any part of the house other than the room being converted - no dust around, no rubbish and minimal noise.
Throughout the fitting the office staff kept in touch by phone to check if all was well. They were so polite and helpful. At the end all rubbish was removed from site by a separate contractor.
All-in-all we are most satisfied with the job done and with the quality, attitude and competence of the people who did it.

Made the call lovely lady on the phoned arranged for a lovely guy to come explain things to me and my mother. It took only a few days to sort the order for a fitting the following week, Had issues with mom our way but the team rescheduled the fitting for the following week. A super lad came and fitted then explained how to work it to myself and mother, the whole experience from start to finish with product working well was excellent!! Couldn't fault the process or the staff in any way what so ever!! Kind caring and very understanding!!

The Handicare staff are very helpful and bend over backwards to help. I recently had a minor problem and phoned first thing. By lunchtime a friendly, kind, professional and polite engineer had come and fixed the minor problem. He was a pleasure to have in the house.

Ordering was very straightforward, the surveyor explained everything in great detail. I had to have a plumber to replace a radiator and a joiner to fit a handrail. Both of them were very knowledgeable and efficient.

Quick service from enquiry to installation. Handicare were in touch throughout the installation process. The fitter was courteous and helpful and clearly knew what he was doing. Rubbish was collected from outside our premises within 48 hours of installation being finalised.

First let me be clear, my Handicare 4000 Perching Stairlift was supplied and fitted by a 3rd party supplier. It is a heavier duty stairlift, designed to take heavier people, so one might imagine that it would be supplied with a longer lap-belt, as heavier people tend also to measure more around the hips, but this common sense solution appears not to be something that they want to know about!

The perch does not come with an anti-slip or fabric cover, and nor do they supply one to purchase as an extra. As a result I am constantly slipping off it, which feels dangerous. I have secured some foam to the seat, with rubber bands, as a temporary fix, but I'm currently looking into creating a more permanent solution.

The seat issue would be less problematic if the footrest was also not slippery. I am told it used to be carpeted, but was changed to a moulded plastic to facilitate cleaning. It is a shame that safety was not considered, as my slippered feet could not get a grip, until I bought some anti-slip self adhesive tape, with a surface like rough sandstone. Now my feet no longer slip, making me less afraid to use the equipment.

I tried to pass my findings on to Handicare/Savaria's Customer service team, so that they could pass my comments on to their management, and consider resolving them in the future. When I worked in Customer Service I was trained that Complaints were an opportunity to Learn and Improve, but this was not my experience with Handicare's team. I was rudely told that I should complain to the Installers, and then when I explained that I had, and they explained that they installed the equipment was as provided by them, they repeated that it was not their problem, and cut me off. I tried again, with a different member their of the team, but the result was the same, despite my only wanting them to record my observations, and consider them when designing future "improvments" to their stairlifts, as the stairlift, as designed and supplied, was, in my opinion, quite dangerous without any modifications! Manners cost nothing, and cutting off a polite, non-swearing, customer without registering their comments to pass on, shows a lack of Customer Care, which, in my opinion, the Senior management ought to investigate and look into staff aptitude, and training.
I will not recommend these products to Anyone, bearing in mind their lack of Customer Care, and the lack of safety features designed into the seat, lapbelt, and footrest.

EDIT: Shame I can't remove the minimum 1*! Handicare, this is about a DIFFERENT staircase, and a stairlift supplied by you to an installer. You are now aware of the dangers inherent in your perching stairlift, however, which is ALL I initially wanted to achieve by contacting you, in a polite and friendly manner! Any injuries resulting to 3rd parties caused by these issues after today (21/5/26) may thus be legally your responsibility. AND this is now Public Information, while it would have been private had my calls been dealt with politely!
