Another great purchase
Another great purchase. Great service, what I really like is, unlike other garages, there’s no pressure, and everyone we dealt with took time and didn’t make us feel uncomfortable. Hayselden Barnsley is brilliant, and huge thanks to Jess!!
sales exec that couldn't be bothered
I arrived at the dealership today at 3-15 21/05 had a look at the demonstrator line I wanted to view an id4 gtx and id7 gtx . there was a id4 on demo line so I went to the showroom . had a look round the id7 but couldn't get the seat to move I asked an exec and was told battery had been flat for a couple of days so nothing could be done . I then asked if the had another id7 told no so I then enquired about an id4 was told they didnt have one curious as I saw one in the demonstrator line , at that point I left and went to another vw dealer and ordered my new id7 .
AVOID! Two dangerous defects and a £400+ defect.
It is often the case that you don't find out what a company is really like to deal with until you have to raise a complaint. In the case of Heyselden Skoda, the answer is abysmal.
Whilst the pre-sales experience was fine, Hayselden Skoda couldn't care less once the car was off their premises. I had to resort to Doncaster Trading Standards ADR service to at least get some compensation because it would have cost me more time/effort to file a small claims summons and have to travel down to South Yorkshire to present my case in County Court, than it will cost me to repair the most expensive fault myself as I will be doing. On the plus side, that means I don't have to take the car back to a dealer I consider to be completely untrustworthy and wouldn't let anywhere near a car I own.
The three defects were as follows if you'd like to read further and understand why I have such a justifiably poor view of this dealership.
1. Car sold with the original (8 year old) perished tyres on the rear, and I note it isn't the first time they have had a bad review on Trustpilot for tyre defects. One of the tyres suffered sudden deflation due to a four inch split which developed along the treads - and not only were Heyselden unrepentant and denied any liability, they admitted they don't even consider age/perishing related defects when checking a car and declined my suggestion that they should start doing so in the interests of safety of their customers. So if the tyres aren't actually illegal due to wear or severe defects, they will happily leave them on a car. I accepted £90 compensation at ADR for this.
2. Related to the above, two front suspension bushes perished and shot. These were classed as dangerous and fixed under warranty by my nearest Skoda dealer in York.
3. Wiring loom into the tailgate completely shot where it goes through the rubber grommet because the wires are as tight as guitar strings with no slack in them at all. One wire was already broken and several of the wires had the copper cores visible as the PVC insulation was literally being pulled apart. This manifested itself as a false self lock and alarm activation if the boot was left open for more than 40 seconds, and the boot light not working. Hayselden didn't dispute my claim that we had first experienced the fault just FIVE DAYS after we picked the car up, but claimed it was normal wear and tear (on a car with just 35K miles on it!) and that the loom must have failed in those five days. As "evidence" they produced a pre-sales checklist suggesting the interior and boot lights had been checked - but dated a full two weeks before we even bought the car so they had no evidence to backup their claim whatsoever, and three unrelated checks on the list were ticked which were not done properly or at all so the whole credibility of their checklist was open to question anyway. The Skoda warranty has a specific exclusion on wiring faults so Heyselden refused all liability.
I checked with the director of a very well known and respected VAG independent garage who confirmed this is a common issue on the Skoda Fabia as the loom is just too tight, so the claim this is normal wear and tear looks like BS from Heyselden to avoid having to take the full hit of a £130 part and a couple of hours labour to fit it.
RESPONSE TO HAYSELDEN COMMENTS:
You have not changed my opinion.
1. "only some age-related cracking was noted" Not on your checklist it wasn't. You didn't put a fresh MOT on the car where it would have been flagged as an advisory either.
2. Not the point. It is how it passed pre-sale check #75 when the suspension bushes were absolutely shot to the point of being dangerous a relatively short period later. Heyselden ticked #27 when I have photo evidence that proves that the infotainment system had NOT been factory reset. A wheel was seized solid to a hub just a few months later, and shouldn't have been if #94 had been done properly.
3. "ADR also agreed that we were not obligated to fund the repair". Had they said that, it would have surprised me greatly because ADR tries to find a resolution to the dispute and doesn't judge the technical/legal merits of the case (courts do that). So I spoke to ADR again today in light of your claim, and they confirmed my understanding.
A claim was made (and acknowledged by your Sales Manager) under CRA 2015 Right to Repair within 5 months of sale of the car - and at that point, Heyselden are obligated to provide evidence to me that the fault was not present at the time of sale, when you are not disputing that it was present five days later. You have not provided ANY credible evidence.
In my experience, manufacturers will only recall when the evidence is overwhelming, and sometimes, not even then. The absense of a recall in this case does not support your position at all. This loom would have been destined to fail early from new.

My Dealings with Hayselden
I approached Adam my sales exec without appointment and he had time to give a price on my new vehicle. I informed him of my online price and he gave me a deal that didn’t match my online price but was at a price I thought was fair and I could also use VW finance offer.

One happy customer
From initial sales enquiry to final collection, sales executive Carl Dixon provided excellent, professional service. This was somewhat tricky for me because I live in South Wales and had to arrange everything over the phone, but I couldn't be more pleased with the service they provided. I would be happy to recommend Hayselden Volkswagen to friends and family.

Me and my partner highly recommend Hayselden Barnsley! This car is the first one we have ever had BRAND NEW and we haven’t once regretted that decision. Jane who looked after us was fantastic from start to finish, even checking in on us/the car afterwards.
If you fancy a new VW, go see what they can do for you and ask for Jane! We already have two people that are going to go see her in the near future from hearing our experience!

After 3 times telling them my water…
After 3 times telling them my water pump was leaking, and fobbed off because my warranty was nearly over , had to resort to telling them I will boll the engine over which would result in them putting a new engine in . And after service not resetting service light and not putting battery cover back on . I told them and got fobbed off again saying it didn’t have a battery cover which I know it did 😡 I couldn’t prove it so had to take there word ??? . I suggest anyone takein there car, to take photos under bonnet for proof because they won’t honour their mistakes. Lies lies lies will never buy a car off them again
