Scam site that takes a percentage of your invoice without telling you

This tool is absolute trash. A glorified time tracker at 2X the price. Not only does it lack basic feautures, but they'll charge you a 3% fee on invoices. My client was confused into thinking he had to provide payment via Bonsai's platform and as a result, I was charged $140 for the privilege. Avoid at all cost. Their customer support is also completely useless.

Nice interface

Nice interface, terrible everything else. They held my first payment for two weeks, locked me into their weird “Bonsai bank,” and still charged fees and subscription costs. For small businesses that need cash flow, this is a nightmare. Hard pass. If you're going to use it, skip that weird business banking setup and use something else.

From onboarding new clients to managing contracts, invoicing, and time tracking, it’s all in one intuitive platform.

What really stands out is how seamlessly it integrates into our workflow. It has reduced admin time significantly, improved billing accuracy, and made it easier for our consultants to focus on delivering value rather than chasing paperwork. Overpriced, Understaffed, and Buggy: A Cautionary Tale for Small Business Owners

As CEO of a boutique creative studio serving entertainment industry clients, I migrated from three reliable tools (HoneyBook, ClickUp, Acuity - $55/month total) to Bonsai's all-in-one platform at $150-200/month, expecting premium service to match the premium pricing.

WHAT WENT WRONG:
The platform itself has solid features and an attractive interface, but the customer experience was deeply disappointing. Within weeks of implementation, we encountered persistent technical bugs affecting core business operations - team members couldn't see assigned tasks, clients were locked out of portals, and our global team struggled with timezone limitations in the scheduling system.

Most frustrating was the support experience. Despite paying 3-4x more than our previous tools, we received email-only support that consistently redirected us to help articles rather than providing actual solutions. There was no meaningful onboarding for monthly subscribers, extremely limited educational resources, and support responses that felt more like deflection than assistance.

After 3-4 months of workarounds and frustration, I escalated directly to CEO Redon Gjika and the leadership team. Rather than addressing the fundamental gap between premium pricing and basic service delivery, their solution was to offer a refund and facilitate our departure. VP Olga Balkina candidly admitted they weren't equipped to provide the support we "rightfully expected."

HOW THIS COMPANY CAN IMPROVE:

1. Invest in customer success infrastructure - Premium pricing should include premium support, not just premium features

2. Provide meaningful onboarding for all subscribers, not just annual customers

3. Offer multiple support channels - phone, chat, or video calls for complex technical issues

4. Improve platform reliability - address persistent bugs that affect daily business operations

5. Be transparent about service limitations - don't market premium service if you can't deliver it

6. Focus on customer retention - when customers escalate concerns, address them rather than offering exit strategies

THE OUTCOME:
We successfully migrated back to our specialized tool stack and couldn't be happier. While consolidation seemed appealing, reliability and responsive support proved more valuable than platform integration.

Sometimes specialized tools that excel in their specific functions are better than an all-in-one solution that under-delivers on customer experience.

MISLEADING MARKETING:
It's worth noting that Bonsai's homepage displays 5-star ratings when their actual TrustPilot score is 4.2 out of 5. This type of inflated marketing should raise red flags about transparency in other business practices.

THE BIGGER PICTURE:
What we experienced represents classic ENSHITTIFICATION - an extreme focus on profits and growth metrics while refusing to invest in customer success infrastructure. This isn't just about disappointed users; it impacts real humans - business owners trying to serve their clients, team members struggling with unreliable tools, and customers affected by operational disruptions.

I've never written a negative review in my life, but I felt compelled to share our story to help other small business owners coming up beside and behind us avoid the Bonsai mistake. Premium pricing should mean premium service - demand better from your software partners.

Outstanding support from Dorian – helped us win a major dispute

We had a high-stakes chargeback case that could have severely impacted our small business, and Dorian at Bonsai went above and beyond to support us through it. He was responsive, clear, and genuinely cared about helping us present the strongest case possible. Thanks to his guidance and support, we won the dispute.

Beyond that, the Bonsai platform itself has been a game-changer for our agency over the years. From invoicing and contracts to project management and payment processing, it’s streamlined so many of our operations and made running a creative business far more efficient. We’ve relied on it for years and continue to recommend it to other freelancers and small businesses.

Best CRM, and task platform. (tested against the competition)

My agency was managing task in Google Sheets and it was long overdue to use a better project and task solution. We were bumping into far too many limitations of just relying on Google's sheets and Docs. My whole agency was tasked with signing up for trials with the major project management platforms, ie Clickup, Monday, Zoho, etc. We signed up and played around with about six or seven different platforms and played with them for months. We were really surprised to see some of the limitations that these big solutions had. Something really simple like keeping some client contact information in the system was completely missing. As a result every platform felt incomplete. Hello Bonsai was literally the only solution that we found that felt like it was well thought out and had the ability to manage tasks and projects intuitively in addition to storing some mother information that we considered to be a basic necessity. It has features well beyond what we even need but it gives us the ability to grow into them as we need it. It really consolidates the fragmented tool ecosystem that so many agencies have to deal with. In my opinion this isn't the best choice, it's one of the only solutions that has a comprehensive suite of solutions that doesn't make you feel like you're being nickel & dimed. I highly recommend it!

Feature-rich without being overly complicated

Having investigated many more well-known project management tools I'm so glad to have found Hello Bonsai - it not only gave me what I was looking for (ease of tracking tasks and a clean client portal) but offered much more (integrated estimating, proposals and contracts).

I'm actually amazed that more people aren't talking about and using this system as it would seem to fulfill the needs of many businesses like ours far better than bigger, more expensive tools.

I'm happy to see that despite the fact that the team involved may be smaller it's all still being actively developed and support is also pretty good so would highly encourage agencies like ours to try it out.

Great product and brilliant customer support

I've been using Bonsai for years and won't go anywhere else for my client management. The interface is so easy to use and makes keeping track of my contracts, invoices, and task lists a breeze. But the best thing is the Bonsai team. I can get a little confused when it comes to all things software and technology, and the team are unfailingly kind, knowledgeable, supportive, and explain things simply.
