Easy to find what I wanted and simple to book. Confirmation time was swift.

I paid for KTMB (Malaysia) tickets in May 25 for June 5, 2025 journey from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth. The tickets were issued but I had to change plans and so, on 31/5/2025, paid for a modification to a Jan 8, 2026 departure. HST were unable to issue tickets for this new departure before I got to KL on 5 January, because they had not processed the modification and re-booked the tickets. I was offered different seats or a different departure time, but cancelled. HST deducted their 10% and then 40% carrier's fee. I objected to paying the carrier's fee because HST failed to re-book the seats and also I cancelled more than 48 hours before departure meaning that the carrier did not charge any fees for cancellation. Despite knowing that my tickets had not been re-booked since 8 December 2025, since that was the date the tickets should have been issued, HST also failed to advise me that my seats had not been booked until after their 60 hour no-full refund window commenced.
Numerous emails over the past week have received inaccurate, incorrect, obtuse reasoning and finally the catch phrase for all entities seeking to avoid responsibility for their own actions, ie this was caused by 'circumstances beyond our control' !! This was after having received an email stating that the operations department failed to process the modification, for which I had paid and HST did refund in full, thereby clearly acknowledging it was their error.
For completeness, HST's T&C's imply that the carrier's fee for a cancellation is 40%, however, this is not the charge from the carrier according to the KTMB website, so they are misrepresenting the carrier's actual charges for their own advantage. I believe that HST cancelled my tickets, pocketed a full refund and then retained a further 40% of the original ticket costs ( which were 100% more expensive than buying directly from KTMB's website, I subsequently discovered !!)
The lesson ? Try and use the local train operators' websites rather than use HST, which is only interested in making money rather than supply an honest service to travellers.

Easy to follow web site

Easy website to navigate. Booked train journey for May and confirmation email stated that it would be a few days before we would receive the tickets. Less than 1 hour later we had the tickets.

Easy to use website: It was clear to see what was available and to book the tickets

Everything was very good, except for the receipts. There was no breakdown except for the actual train tickets receipt. There is no brekdown of the other 257 Euros. No breakdown was included with the conformation email, only the total of 796 usd.
