I attended their Girraween store to…

I attended their Girraween store to check out their guitars a few years back and although I'm local, I've not yet returned. Some are very affordable. There are many guitars to choose from. I wanted to try some, so I was plugged into a decent amp. Strangely, the guy there insisted on tuning every guitar himself, using his own tuner. Though many of the guitars looked good and felt fine, ALL of them sounded so far out of tune/intonation that it was painful to hear. If others had the same experience, not many would have sold. I suppose the guy did not know how to tune correctly, or had a faulty tuner, but at the time I just assumed that all the guitars were weirdly bad. Date is approximate.

I write this review on Hillsound in…

I write this review on Hillsound in Australia because Hillsound, Kookaburra Music Tree and Haze guitars are intertwined…

I purchased a Multispecialist III from Haze Guitars. Customer service in buying the guitar was great. Then the guitar arrived in Canada…

Brand new out of the box the guitar didn’t function properly. The volume pot didn’t work - it was “no volume” or “full volume”, nothing in between plus loud snaps and pops when turning the knob.

Customer Service didn’t seem to care - lots of excuses, lots of “our great quality control”, lots of “you must be doing something wrong”. No warranty, no offer to help with parts or repairs. Nothing!

I shouldn’t forget their offer to refund my $500 if I returned the guitar. Cost to return - $1000! Not helpful!!!

Be prepared… If you buy from them and something goes wrong, you’re probably out of luck!

1 star - more than they deserve!

Ehhh :S

Eh, they're a legit company but aftersales service is a bit lacking. I order the haze HSFV-1940 flying V guitar for just under 400 dollars. I needed to shave a quarter inch from the neck, modify the lock nut, shift the strap lug and rework the tonation just to get the guitar remotely playable (still not the best action around).

They seem to be affiliated with Haze guitars somehow. Not sure if it was just my particular guitar like this or if Haze is like that in general, but Hillsound didn't even respond to my email about the situation. It seems they were not interested or worried that the guitar I bought wasn't as well built as the 120 dollar ebay special and made no attempt to communicate let alone offer any solution. So be careful.

3 stars given because at least I received my goods, about 4 weeks after the order date.
