My husband had very poor service from…

My husband had very poor service from John, he failed to send a letter out which resulted in armed police turning up and holding my husband till court the next day.. that isn’t even the worst.. after judge apologising, he then got given a trial date. Where Hines solicitors got him a “ barrister “ ( Gareth JAMES ) who never used any police crime reference numbers/ emails in court. Never used any evidence we had, emails, texts, videos, Then on day of sentencing my husbands own “ barrister “ told the judge to activate his suspended sentence … which the judge didn’t do. Wasn’t until we left court and googled his name. And he is a SOLICITOR FOR HINES !!!! He isn’t even a barrister!! Avoid at all costs! GARETH JAMES IS rude, arrogant, and clearly a fr* *d representing as a barrister when he is only a solicitor.

Ignored Instructions to Pause Work – Still Charged £1,440 Out of £1,620

My experience with Hine Solicitors during a property purchase was extremely disappointing and stressful.

I clearly informed the solicitor in writing that I would be unavailable and requested that no further work be carried out until after 20 May. Despite this clear instruction, legal reports and documents were prepared and sent to me during that period.

The property itself had issues identified during the process, including asbestos concerns, and it appeared the property had previously struggled to sell. During this time there was constant pressure from the estate agent, who was contacting me and my solicitor frequently asking for updates and pushing for completion dates.

Despite explaining multiple times that I could not deal with the matter, the solicitor continued to contact me and proceeded with work I had asked them to pause.

The original quote for the full legal service was approximately £1,620, yet I was later invoiced £1,440 in legal fees, even though the purchase never progressed to exchange or completion and the work was carried out during the period I had asked them to wait.

I ultimately felt pressured into paying the invoice for work that I had not asked to proceed with at that time. Because of this experience I have submitted formal complaints to the appropriate regulatory bodies.

For transparency, I have posted supporting screenshots of the email timeline on my Google review, showing the instructions I gave and the dates involved. Anyone reading this review can verify that the events described are based on real correspondence.

Legally competent receptionist?

Called and requested legal advice on a clearly defined situation. The response was not as expected.
Advised that the category I enquired about was not covered by this company.. but a simple definition question prompted a different answer.
The different answer was a referral for examination and considered opinion on my original enquiry to a specialist unit in the company
Unbelievable how a "receptionist" can perhaps be deemed "legally competent" to determine if an enquiry is within the scope of company competency.
Quite a revealing circumstance that leads me to question the viability of the firms competence in any area of law.

Avoid the firm if you want a competent solicitor

The solicitor acting for us was extremely slow to do anything, communicated very poorly and at one stage (despite us having been recommended this person for the work we needed doing) told me that she had never heard of the thing we were asking her to do - a very straightforward and well understood thing! A complaint to the firm was batted away and made out to be everyone else's fault.

Service you rarely get.

A while ago we went through difficult times, having to find a care home for Kath’s 93 year old mother, finding and arranging a long term care annuity to fund her care and selling both our own home and hers and relocating from Watford to Poole. We chose a local legal firm for our own sale and purchase, but despite them having good reviews we came to regret our decision. When it came to selling Irene’s home we knew we had to look elsewhere. We mentioned this to Andrew Brackenbury of Keep Trust Planning and he recommended Hine Solicitors at Swindon, who we went with. This proved to be a great decision, and we were lucky enough to have Karen Gleed and Angela Clayton looking after the sale.

They were both very professional, always cheerful and a pleasure to work with.

If you want to waste time and chase your tail, then this is the company to use

iPhone twice On Thursday and was assured of a phone call that day which did not happen. I also left a message on Friday and still did not get a callback. I finally got a call back on Monday to let me know that I would have an appointment today by phone and that did not happen and then finally Friday’s phone call happened late yesterday but I already had an appointment also I thought does anybody actually know what they are doing?
11am was my call today and no call was received. If a call cannot be kept can you seriously rely upon them to do right by you in your legal battle?!

Very helpful

Very thorough, extremely helpful and very friendly. Also they seem to explain things in a way I could understand. I highly recommend. Thankyou Hine solicitors.
